  1. Unfortunately that would require being a full feruchemist. I suppose with proper manipulation you could make a metalmind for somebody else to use...
  2. Book one has allomantic symbols, book two has feruchemical symbols, and book three has hemalurgic symbols I believe.
  3. When not specifically directed, the emotion tends to vent itself. The emotions themselves are the power, and could theoretically be used for anything, but it's difficult to use it for anything beyond its purpose both because of the nature of the magic and because it's hard to make rainbows and ponies when you're a burning ball of hatred.
  4. Crap, I get a perfectly good sliding scale idea from flash, and then in comes another equally good idea to throw me off. (Thanks for the help, it's really nice!) In a world where emotions give you power, I imagine being able to control them well is a general skill, like writing. People can make themselves furious at any moment, or green with envy for almost no tangible reason. When not using any particular state of emotion, most people would probably just keep all emotion from themselves. Basically what I'm saying is that calmness is kind of like colorless for Awakeners. There's no emotions to use.
  5. I Felt your sneaky riotings! It was a noble Venture, but eVin if it kills this thread, I feel with continued posting that we Shallan derstand Sanderson better. Keep Breathing life into this thread!
  6. As of late I've been bouncing a story idea around, and the magic system I came up with is based in emotions, as one would guess from the title. Chenneling an emotion uses it up in the process, so a way to perpetually fill yourself with what you need and good willpower are good traits to have in it. Unfortunately, I have, as usual, hit a bit of a roadblock with the idea, in the sense that I don't rreally know what to use everything for. Anger would probably be more of a destructive power by simple nature of the emotion, but simply deciding to assign categories to individual emotions forces me to pick a handful of "Primary" emotion from which all others are composed. If you go with current theories, this means I have anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise to work with, which leaves me with only one "positive" amung five "negatives". In short, I'm stuck, so instead of butting my head against it for a week to come up with something, I'm taking to (likely more productive) shortcut and asking for help. Any ideas?
  7. I can't let this thread die! Preservation is paramount! All these Mistborn puns. You guys deserve a Metal.
  8. Not a bad theory, particularly the black rock bit. I think the general opinion is that the element is some part of Adonalsium, but I can't speak for everybody.
  9. Jasnah is in for a surprise when she learns that Windrunners don't turn into crystals when you point at them.
  10. As far as I know, the only reason Allomancy is weakening is because Lerasium artificially enhanced it. It used to be still pretty strong, with, say, Pewter making you as strong as two men instead of ten. Lerasium gave it a boost, but slowly and surely it's fading back to a normal level. A kandra baddy. It has to happen.
  11. Either they view themselves as Godlikes or they intend to wield Adonalsium. Otherwise I see no logic behind the name.
  12. I just feel that his character arc has passed the peak, and that there really isn't anywhere else to go with him. Yes, Kaladin is a Windrunner, but so is Szeth, who also has a Shardblade and years more of experience with both. Kaladin's life cannot continue as it is, being nice and happy with the one honorable person in the world. Dalinar has to die.
  13. How about a Nicrorioter? Brandon hinted that Nicrosil can help compound allomancy, so I'll just mindcontrol the sucker. If I get a spike, I'll take another zinc.
  14. Give you a craving for The Epic God Metal. Brandon consumes it regularly.
  15. To be honest I think he's going to die. He's just too honorable to go anywhere else, and it's not like Szeth is going to back down.
  16. This. Hoid is definately involved in Adonalsium's being put together, though whether for or against we don't know. Maybe the name of the Seventeenth Shard is relevant here. Are the trying to add themselves to it?
  17. Huh, not too bad I suppose. Sitting in a cage isn't a very active scene though, and all the words feel kind of passive. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the opening conveyes no sense that something interesting will soon happen, until the end of the second sentence. Even then, it's still passive about it. While I like the idea, the sentence doesn't feel like it was put together very well. It just doesn't flow. Either edit it or split it into two lines, and you'll have a pretty good opening.
  18. A small, foldable tray that unfolds to be about a square foot. Mounted on top of it are hundreds of tiny metal balls that rearrange themselves into the geography around you. An interactive map.
  19. Brandon mentioned how he probably shouldn't make them the way they are, but how it was just too cool to pass up.
  20. Stamps deal primarily with one's cognitive aspect and how it relates to the physical. While they do deal in the spiritual a little, I doubt they do so enough to rewrite a spiritweb, even temporarily. As for soulcasting, the caster probably would only have to use a little more stormlight to make it work, and unlike forgery there isn't a limit to how much investure they can dump into an object.
  21. Except now you have a new irriation in life. YOUR EYES ARE MOVING SOOOO SLOWLY! NOOOOO!
  22. Interesting thing to note: Her father was the one who put her into the devotion of purity. I always wondered if that had anything to do with her/their soulcasting abilities. Dalinar will die. He's far too honorable and perfect to be allowed to last. His character arc is nearing or possibly even past its peak, and the only place to go now is death. Szeth isn't going to back off his orders, and the odds of him being beaten by Kaladin are slim. Chances are he kills Dalinar and leaves everything in chaos.
  23. Could be like the Lego Harry Potter's "Student in Peril" kind of thing as you look for Seventeenth Sharders. Good thing it wasn't Nun-Balat that came for Shallan, or we'd get an extended limb-removal scene. Speaking of which, has there been so much as a whisper about Mistborn: Birthright of late? I'm starting to worry about it.
  24. I always thought that Rashek took some of the Well's power and solidified it into a metal, meaning that Lerasium is as finite as the Well and gets a spike in supply every 1020 years.
  25. I've seen a few threads with some quiet speculations about Harmony finally figuring out how to bring back the dead and giving Vin and Elend a nice, far-away hut to actually live a decent life in for once. I guess it's always nice imagine.
