Gratz! Very good!

On the not breathing, it's kind of a way to give you an idea of how powerful Miles is. The sheer enourmous scale of what his power can do is expressed by his lack of need to breath. While piercing spikes instantly brings to mind Hemalurgy, to me all he was doing was replicating TLR's trick and keeping his metalminds from being pushed and pulled, nothing more. The odds of him and/or the set somehow stumbling on to Hemalurgy aren't good, and Miles doesn't ever really ever hint at having other powers. If he was a Hemalurgist, he'd probably have given himself more abilities. His determination can be easily chalked up to his personality. His POVs indicate that he's got a goal he believes is not only true but also divine. That's enough to make a non-allomancer determined enough.

You could always pulse your copper on and off over and over next to an allomancer and see what kind of effect it has on a seeker. Maybe you could make one misting sound like a different misting...

Humans tend to vary throughout the cosmere, though they maintain the important things. I'll sum up what we know on this, most likely through using information already stated above. Adonalsium watched over his own little planet filled with humans. One day for unknown reasons Adonalsium shatters into 16 shards. 16 humans take up the shards and split up. What happens to the old planet is unknown but likely not good. Eentually the shards want to make life, and they all do it based on the animals and people from their old homeworld, with varying degrees of success. I imagine Dragonsteel, when it gets out, will have a lot of familiar creatures in it.

Store health until you die -
We know that the dead can see into the cognitive realm and the future. Maybe they're one and the same?

Not in the IRC, but a PM conversation that went something like: "Hey Death, if it's one against ten, how good of odds are those?" "Extremely good. The first guy has already one" [insert various bad pun reactions]

I would like to announce that I checked off one more thing from the "Things I've always Wanted to do" list!

Feruchemy has the most real-world application of them all. Success here has less to do with talent and more to do with being able to memorize and regurgitate factoids on command. In the cosmere worldhopping could easily give you the others. A stop on Nalthis and some torturing work will get you enough breaths to be immortal, and from then on in you have all the time in the world to track down most of the others. If you work right you can use tiny needles for Hemalugy to avoid the awkward spikes, and once you got double gold your quest would officially reach the "Easy to the point of laughability" level. The only thing that would be remotely difficult would be getting a shardblade, and with so many other power you could probably get that with ease anyways.

Short answer: No Longer answer: You can't push on metals inside yourself for two reasons One: Steel and Iron are external metals, not internal Two: The reason it's really difficult to push on metals in a body is because the body's investure screws up your magical changes. Your body has investure too, and therefore will resist the magic being used on it.

The genetic component is simply the ability to be an allomancer. Two Coinshots are fully capable of having any kind of allomancer, including a Mistborn. It'a more to do with your spiritual connection to Preservation, which is only, as you put it, loosely genetic. So no, I don't think twins would always share an allomantic power. Feruchemy, however, is quite possibly a whole different animal. AN animal we really don't know as much about as we do allomancy, so whether or not the argument for allomancy still applies is up in the air.

Questions and Nearly Baseless Musing
Observer replied to Lord Of Nothing's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'll go with wilson's theory, but also offer up the possibility that the visions are entirely in Dalinar's mind, and like a bad dream where you can't make your legs move he finds himself unable to get out that stupid sword. An entirely different and rather cool option is that the visions are literally taking place in the spiritual realm, which could work depending on how you view it but probably doesn't. Ah heck now I'M blabbering. /post -
the most useless uses for useful powers

Using lashings to spoonfeed yourself. Or better yet, using soulcasting to repeatedly dismantle and recreate a spoon to spoonfeed yourself. Not only difficult but a total waste of gems and stormlight! Yeah! -
Not much I can say to that...

Sorry Lyre, but as continueable as that is it isn't very gripping. TBH it feels a bit mundane, though that could easily be a strong point as it's relateable and maybe leaves you anticipating some future action. Meh, just my irritated opinion at 10 PM, so ignore me :/

I concede to your argument in that context. Showing the aftermath of the 'Chosen One' leaving would be interesting. I was taking it more as yet another typical story with a clunky-ish first line. But enough babbling, I agree. Don't worry Shiv, we all love posting multiple lines, or at least I do. Helps the context a little I think. I like it, though I don't love it. Good hook, bringing you into the 'action' and making you wonder why Bhua (I keep thinking of Bhupu when I read that) is climbing stairs and can't stop. I can't think of a definitive reason NOT to like it, yet for some reason some small thing about it nags at me a little. Not enough to undermine it, but enough to make a tiny difference. I like opening deaths, though they are a bit overused. The use of 'he' simultaneously leaves you wondering who this person is and kind of alienates you from the situation since you don't have a main character to associate with.

Awaken the corpse of Monty Python's Black Knight, or anything that lacks the ability to move or be useful in any way but will hold your breaths forever. Awaken a headless monkey Use lashings to turn the pages on your book Use lashings to push keys (I just realized lashings require physical contact. Duh. Twice as useless now.) Soulcast a gem into stone (Not sure if that's possible, but if so, who would?) Convert the air in a sealed room to smoke Burn and store things like pewter at the same time Tap and fill a metalmind at the same time Store identity and then throw away the metalmind Make your lenses into retro-reflectors, so they'll hit you no matter which way you put them on! -
Since the breaths are just going into keeping the awakened alive they wouldn't give it an aura. Extra breaths though... I've always wanted to awaken something to awaken something else. Just 'cause.

How to defend against shard plate, shard blades, wind runners, ect.
Observer replied to RJWB0mb's topic in Stormlight Archive
Because smoke is one of their 10 main elements. Like Jasnah said, blood, being an element, is easy. Water is difficult. Mustard gas would probably be next to impossible. -

Can a soother/rioter push/pull there own emotions?
Observer replied to SirShemmington VI's topic in Mistborn
Though its unlikely that you could hit a person hard enough to knock them out without duralumin, it'd still be pretty awesome. I should use that in the RPG some time if this is confirmed... -
Giving us another chance to relate to Szeth and his "Return to the stones". Yay relevance!
