  2. I was thinking that it could be how the spiritual DNA makes Spiritual aspect, in a similar manner, Mental DNA probably makes up cognitive aspect of a person. So, A.Brass and A.Zinc could also be manipulating the mental DNA to Shape the way Cognitive aspect works thus resulting in manipulation of emotions in the Physical being. Mental DNA might also be at work with the Lightweaver Resonance, which is their mnemonic abilities..
  3. Oh.. it is a single story dealing with same characters throughout same era.. However, you can just skim through books 8&9 very quickly.. and books 10 & 11, focus on all the Mat and Egwene and Rand stuff.. mainly.. you can skim through if you are having difficulty with how long the series is..
  4. I would like to see that.. In Soviet Roshar, Spren trap YOU in Fabrials
  5. Its ok.. But i agree that i don't think that Heralds had access to Honorplates.. If they had, then they would have left behind the honorplates too and nowhere does Szeth mentions any such plates either.. Also, the confusion where Kaladin and Dalinar might look at warriors wearing Shardplate and think that it could be a herald, could come from - Long time has passed and over time people might have wrongfully ascribed radiant shardplates to Heralds too.. - Nalan could have confused matters further, by becoming an actual herald who also possessed a shardplate
  6. I am actually happy that you think that because i don't think heralds had plate. I think it should be mentioned more if it were so. And when they left their honorblades, why did they not leave their "Honorplates" too. But "kaladin and dalinar being open to the idea of heralds having plates" still negates the point i had earlier made in this very thread, let me quote it here again : As we know that her recollections are fairly accurate, we can rely on this as what the Vorin mythology teaches about heralds. All the things mentioned about heralds are true so, if there was a plate, it would be mentioned somewhere. But it is not
  7. I understand totally. Book 2 is my least favourite Sanderson book in Cosmere.. may be you can read the summary somewhere and then go for the bands of mourning directly..
  8. Ok I am trying to check this out.. @SzethIsBadAsHell So far I have found one mention in Chapter 27 Twok, chasm fury where kaladin finds a knife which has a depiction of a man in plate and kaladin thinks could be jezerein or nalan. But if it is Nalan then that would make sense because he is also a radiant and will have shardplate. And I found one more. Dalinar in his vision of Aharietiam sees the stoneward knight wearing shardplate and asks stormfather if the man was a Herald. So, this seems to suggest that kaladin and dalinar are open to the idea of heralds having shardplates..
  9. Welcome to the shard! Don’t worry too much about keeping your breath, we assure you, you will never really know the difference! Trust me, I am as trustworthy as the name-sake character in Cosmere..
  10. Welcome to the shard! OB is my favourite book too. And please avoid the Cosmere Discussion section till you read HoA and Mistborn era 2 And Mistborn secret history.
  11. SA 4 rough draft : 79% !!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Welcome Khriss of Siverlight to the 17th shard.. I was also very close to not finishing era 2 book 2 of Mistborn but I am glad that I did, because “the bands of mourning” book 3 makes it worth going through book 2.. It really is very good. I agree about Emperors Soul, I think it can be a great entry point into Cosmere.
  13. The spren can get the idea of plate from the singers themselves. They have carapace- like armour plate that covers their bodies and protects them.. Since the radiants were fighting them, it seems possible that they got the idea of giving an armour to their radiants also.. As far as heralds are concerned, we have References of their blades but nowhere in the books has people mentioned them as having a plate. The Vorin mythology that teaches people about heralds mentions no plate As we know that her recollections are fairly accurate, we can rely on this as what the Vorin mythology teaches about heralds. All the things mentioned about heralds are true so, if there was a plate, it would be mentioned somewhere. But it is not
  14. But how will the natives of fots sense the rhythms? It might be just a Rosharan thing.. seeing as the humans can not sense rhythms
  15. Possible but the trapping itself required him to invest atleast a little.. Also the phrasing “where three of sixteen once ruled, now the broken one reigns” seems to imply that all three resided in the Rosharan system peacefully atleast for some time.. Also the first wob I quoted in the OP, suggests that Odium has invested on all planets he has visited, even if it was done sparingly.. I agree.. I don’t think that the residual investiture present in threnody system was enough that CS has always existed even before the conflict.
  16. that is an interesting notion.. i do wonder if it is possible.. But how do you go on collected such investiture? Is the amount of investiture only relevant factor in making someone a Sliver or the amount of time spent immersed in the investiture also relevant?
  17. Yes i think that is the case.. Preservation and ruin are more concentrated on Scadrial but a little bit of their investiture is everywhere.. The longer a shard invests more on a single location, the more difficult it is for them to leave the system, because their investiture permeates that system. Loose investiture around other non-shard world does associate with one or the other shard. The only thing is most shards are letting those investitures be. In fact, that is how some think that ambition is creating her avatars. She is finding ambient investiture keyed to her and creating avatars out of them.. i think..
  18. I think i remember that too but we are not clear about the location of the heart and therefore, the natives could miss the heartbeat not knowing where to look.. Besides, beneath the Chitin plate attached to the chest, the heartbeat may not be so easily traceable..
  19. Yes i agree.. but Adonalsium's Investiture permeated all the worlds in the cosmere. On his shattering, each such investiture automatically got connected to one or the other shards based on closeness to intent may be... Later, Shards settled on planets based on pure choice or based on these associations. However, if what you are saying is correct: So, by this reasoning, we can also reason that all the non-shard worlds have residue investiture that earlier belonged to Adonalsium, which has not been actively taken over by some shard. So, in that way, symbolically speaking, Adonalsium still reigns on all the non-shard worlds too. I actually do not mind this idea.. It sort of proves that if Adonalsium were a true God then he could not be killed, so, in a way, may be, Adonalsium the power was not really killed, it is pure energy and energy can only change forms but can not be destroyed.. So, the original 16 shards may not have been as successful as think they are..
  20. By that interpretation, Adonalsium is still reigning on all the non-shard worlds too.. I really think "the broken one" is referring to Odium
  21. hmm but it may not be located where human heart is located. So, a heartbeat may not detected easily and pulse rate also may not be easily detected if the wrist is covered under chitin plate armour.
  22. In a similar way, none of the death rattles or Renarin’s visions are exactly showing the future either. They are also only showing the possibilities which is exactly what gold shows but for the past. In the same manner, death rattles showing past events may be showing true past events or dead branches of paths never taken..
  23. Yup Agreed.. we don’t know how many they control and if there is even any crucial hoardlings that if die, the sleepless will die.. May be the ones that form the brain part of a sleepless but I am not sure.. In fact m, it is also possible that as long as one of the hoardlings survives, the sleepless is alive.. it might take them time to rebuild themselves to full strength but they would still survive.. I also like the idea that creeping is a general term that Rosharans use like they call every bird a chicken.. and sleepless can go to other Shardworlds and cultivate their insectoids as hoardlings..
