Long Game 79/Anonymous Game 10: The Rhythm of Freedom
Opal Lion replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
What are you talking about? Artform is essentially a Tineye role and can be confirmed via usual Tineye authentication methods. Mavset-im's bodysnatch is essentially a conversion mechanic that has the potential to mess with Village trusts because anyone could be Mavset-im and the writeup won't tell us. As Rhino boi pointed out, someone not talking in PMs is indicative. So is someone who, not to put too fine a point on it, used to be able to put things in write-ups. Mavset-im's bodysnatch boils down to a conversion mechanic with three tells we can use: it turns the player into a vanilla, it renders them unable to speak in PMs, and it will likely cause a change in speech or activity patterns. With regard to the last, I'm minded of the warrant canary Maill did, where he embedded a series of keywords in his posts. We never did understand what he meant by them but it was telling when he was bodysnatched and the codes just...stopped. Players with distinctive speech patterns will likely make poor targets as well so I suppose I should have committed to playing this game in iambic trimeter. But then I'd go insane, not Mavset-im! Anyway I feel like a lot of the "don't roleclaim" or "do roleclaim" discussion is pointless this early on. Both elims and vil have sensible reasons to not want to roleclaim out the gate. But my experience has always been that talk is one thing and what players do is another. Realistically I expect a decent amount of claims to happen by midgame and believe the point is to think about how this can be leveraged to serve vil because the elims sure will do their damnedest to use it against us.- 819 replies

Requires opening PMs. Remember it takes an action and lasts only a cycle, which is the counterbalance, though it could certainly be another avenue. Action economy is real. I'm not a fan of roleclaiming wantonly but cards on the table—I especially think anyone going artform should consider this angle.- 819 replies

I don't think I realised how interesting my boi Rhino's question to Steel was until I thought through the implications. Mavset-im cannot have a form. If Mavset-im bodysnatches, that account loses its form. Steel has already said this. The corollary is that if you provably have a vil form, you may not be provably vil as but you are certainly provably not Mavset-im. I'm not saying go wild with the role claims, especially not right out the gate. I feel obligated to shake my fists like an old curmudgeon and mutter about opsec. But it is an option to keep in mind going forwards. Incidentally, has anyone heard of the legend of warrant canaries? It's not a tale Mavset-im would tell you.- 819 replies

I assume that Vulture Not Valerian has deduced that a poke vote without a threat of imminent death is toothless and has elected to stab their beak into it by forcing Weasel into the lead. Regardless of Heron's reasoning, they did tie Tuatara with Weasel. Whatever the specific tie mechanics of the game are, this should be noted. I am generally in agreement with those who think there is something off about Tuatara's reasoning but I see nothing wrong with a tie at this point in the cycle. In the interests of presenting the intrepid with more options, I will move off Rhino and on to my old friend Swan.- 819 replies

Mate, do ye know what a pain it was to get that RP out? I'd rather cut me good arm off and type with me leftie than have to deal with bloody Artform. Thank the gods no one can force another player into a form in this game... I might be a wee bit tired but I swear I read Amber Vulture as Araris Valerian at first and had a few moments of "Da heck do ye mean Araris is playing this game as himself?" Dunno, I didn't eat dinner and you looked tasty I guess omnomnomnomnom- 819 replies

Said as though some players on the forum won't jump on the chance to RP whether they have a role dedicated to it or not. I'm going to laugh if Ash is playing and takes Artform. Sending a PM is an action. An additional action could be an extra PM which isn't too shabby either. Despite being an old curmudgeon, I'm generally a fan of being able to communicate. Whoever who had this account before me used a lot of PMs, I like you already. CBA to read so deleted them aaaaaalll. I haven't ever seen a no lynch option on this forum, but I don't want to open the 'to lynch or not to lynch' can of worms. I think I will vote today however. Plum Rhino, I choose you! I have been informed that I am contractually obligated to RP so have at ye: Atticus had nightmares. Bad nightmares. He trudged along with the others.- 819 replies
