Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame
Opal Lion replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I know that recently people have been relying too much on PMs. I do believe that the Docs are nice, if we don't have our PM god (especially Shadesmar), but also I know that some people still would like PMs and also don't all want to flock to Shadesmar Your concern about "trying to fish for Culti" is why I altered my message. I find it much more likely that Culti will heal me if I announce who I am, and let her know she can do it anonymously than if I request she first get in contact with me. The only way that Culti can be found off of visiting me is if an Elantrian or Truthwatcher specifically targets Culti and sees them visit me, but even then they would have to know who Culti was in the first place I also disagree about the whole "able to roleclaim without letting everyone know" and I don't think PMs are that useless. PMs in vanilla games are even useful sometimes, and people don't have roles in those . They allow people who have found solid trusts to share thoughts freely, they allow you to fish out Elims under the pretense of trust, where it might have been hard to in thread. Of course the game is solvable without PMs- and sometimes they can make it worse. This too, however, can be said about roles as well. Would you rather take away all the roles in this game as well? no! that's part of what makes this specific game appealing to play! ED1T: Against Private talks do you say? I guess this checks out, with the only thing you said in the doc was asking me to roleclaim- 1222 replies

Hello! After reading (for a...10th? time?) the Rules I modify my statement! Culti, there is no intermediary! if you want PMs then target me! (hey hey hey Elims, don't you guys want PMs too? I think so! they're fun! you can manipulate people, like me!) -- Remy liked pockets. Warm, cozy, just the right size for- What was he doing again? he was here to...find something. something that was not...pockets...- 1222 replies

Cultivation, I am in contact with Prudence. If you have a PM ability, please contact me and I can direct you to Prudence. If you value PMs, that is. :P. If not we can probably survive off of Docs is what I'm thinking.- 1222 replies

So you believe that the Odiuminions intentionally targeted Heron because it would Implicate Gecko, but that Gecko is an Elim? Or are you saying that you assume the Odiuminions thought Mint was an Important Shard, and wanted to get rid of them, despite the kill seemingly implicating Gecko?- 1222 replies

I can't help but see this as anything but an Elim trying to, for some reason, Justify their TMI village read on a player. This of course wouldn't make sense with all the Null reads you stated. Perhaps there's PM or Doc Happenings, but preferably that would be stated.- 1222 replies

I understand Contribution Crusades aren't a great thing this early on, (nor are they...late game, but I digress), but I would like to see something out of Penguin. @Chartreuse Penguin Do you have thoughts on what's going on? while I understand you can only repeat things that people have said, there has been quite a bit said already that I'm sure you could piece together if need be.- 1222 replies

A few, disorganized thoughts. Hm. I believe that Gorilla claimed that they voted on Kangaroo for actually saying something, for there were no better reasons to vote at that time, and that it would promote discussion. I don't then, see Gorilla try and promote this discussion that they say the vote was for, so this is why I'm a lean-elim on gorilla. Well, apparently there was just this one thought, so. Remy wandered around Sel. There weren't many people here. He had come to Sel, hoping to find different people, thinking that they would not all be flocking to Shadesmar- as PMs weren't all that useful as long as Prudence was in the game. But Prudence...had now died. And all the people who had left to Shadesmar seemed even the wiser for it. Remy was feeling...Lonely. -- Do you imply that he meant to hit Prudence, or that this slot was saying specific things on Roshar that were making him nervous, and we shouldn't operate off of the assumption that Prudence in particular was targeted? I would say that I think people asking for protection is good for the village mostly, as it causes IKYK scenarios for the Elims to have to sort through (or ignore) but I understand that you're talking about paranoid 1-shot protection havers, so- this is a pretty much useless statement for me to make! :P.- 1222 replies

Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg. I'm not feeling this part of the message. Reading wayyyyyy too much into things is my speciality, but- "I am glad it happened anyways" is an obvious statement that need not be said by anyone who truly feels the same way. "Suggests that the others on Braize are Odious as well" plants seeds of doubt into the minds of those who actually do be searching for the Odiuminions. Just my thoughts - as those might just as well be yours.- 1222 replies

How interesting. I do wonder how that tiny straw man will be used. Nalthis is the lottery, yes? So it's announced what Item is up beforehand? interesting. So in looking over last cycle I'm not so fond of elephant? At the end they retracted their vote on Mauve, and basically shaded everyone else on the wagon, saying that they all jumped on opportunistically. could have been a last minute attempt to get people off, but- okay, probably unlikely, seeing as that would be a risky play. the jump to a completely different target was strange to me.- 1222 replies

I can try. Not a fan of the votes piling on Sage for trying to promote discussion, basically. feels like an easy mislynch that people jump on. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this, and these votes were to promote discussion, but I see them just saying that Sage is wrong, without much debate happening. First question: Why not mention Invention? they are, like Autonomy and Survival, a neutral party. Yet you only name those two? I think that them claiming is...scary, from a village perspective. ... And from an Elim perspective. So! they claim. then what? what's the point in having this information? well, it narrows down one suspect. it also gives an open shot for the Elims, in my opinion, to get an extra vote. this is all dependent on how these particular players like playing Neutral slots, but to win they all need to target two Elims and two Villagers. It would definitely be easy for an Elim to reach out, and offer two names and a stay of excecution for them to play along. Of course there's the problem where the Neutral could end up siding with village, but what's the fun in that! As an Elim, I would be worried that me saying this would mean villagers might try this plan, no? Well, Shards are pretty easily confirmed. so worry not, Dear Odium- 1222 replies

Well, I have to be honest, I don't think I was aware mauve had a vote on her already. It has little do with past grudges, and more to do with the vibes I get from her. Tell me all you want that it's not the best way of going about things, but it's what I have right now. Still on page 4 of the rules, hoping that my friends in shadesmar will awaken and join me- 1222 replies

I don't think that any vote with little reasoning this early on should be under as much stress as this seems to be. It's early on! Votes will be hasty, they'll be kinda dumb reasoning. I'd find any vote that might have too much reason to be telling. of what? who knows. Kind of how, a while back, I tried to take up pottery, and with each piece you can tell something about the person who made them. I was never good at that...but I'm sure someone could do it. Wasn't that good with pottery either. Bet that's what everyone could tell from my peices. Anyways- I've seen one too many people hide sinister plans behind smiles, Mauve. Just like back when- ... when...I... I'm not sure. But uh, trust me! it's definitely happened. and I can remember. clearly. -- Remy was getting bored again. this 'fishing' thing turned out to be the useless-t of them all, and he had wasted...much more time than some other activities he'd tried. Out of all of them, bead fishing was in solid last place, miles behind Drawing. He just couldn't seem to get that right. Shadesmar was getting old, and it was time to move on. He was thinking...Roshar? not a particular connection he felt, just a tidbit in a help column he saw. Well, guess he was going to need an umbrella.- 1222 replies

Aren't keteks supposed to have 5 sections to them? -- This whole "bead fishing" thing hadn't worked out so far. He had gotten excited for a bit, but whatever was tugging on his line turned out to be some spren playing some sort of practical joke. Remy ignored his fishing pole as he left the sea. probably no need for it anymore. -- Remy ran back to the fishing pole. no telling whether it might be useful for something, his parents taught him better than to waste things. if they- who were his parents? He had a vague feeling of...what was that...disappointment? disappointment from his parents. disappointment in him. He shrugged it off. not like it matters now, right? Couldn't even remember who his parents were. Or who he really was. All he had was his name, which...didn't do him much good. most of the people around weren't even able to pronounce his name very well. His name...and a feeling. something was pulling at him, and he needed to figure out what it was.- 1222 replies

Remy didn't grow up in Shadesmar, but it wasn't that hard to adapt. It definitely wasn't the easiest thing to do, but he also wasn't going to be living here forever, and figured that it's gotta happen sometime or another. for...what reason? Remy couldn't remember... He thought that he'd be here a few weeks, to get used to the environment. then he could return to- return to where? He shook off the feeling of uneasiness. He'd remember sooner or later. Why he was suddenly blanking on the name probably just had to do with...something bad that he ate? Yeah. Probably. It was pretty easy to survive in Shadesmar, but surviving didn't ever cure boredom in a day- or...however that saying goes. Recently he'd taken up fishing. there were no real seas in Shadesmar, but about a week ago he started sitting on the edge of the ocean of beads for hours every day, figuring that if he threw in a line and waited, something was bound to happen, sooner or later. He'd...started to think that he was wrong about that.- 1222 replies

The rest of the votes were actually several hours later in the cycle, IIRC. I waited around for a while after that, to see if Emerald would respond, but when I went to bed there was still only two votes on me (compared to Albatross's three). Hindsight is 20/20- claiming then would probably have been the smarter move, but I didn't want to disallow the possibility of an elim kill hitting me... and I didn't expect the lynch to swing so fast. Also Rhino, because we're guaranteed that at least one of Albatross and Rhino is elim. More analysis to come later, if I have time.

I find Iguana much less suspicious now, which is why I didn't vote for them. As for Toucan, I agree with your assessment - wait for them to become active - which is why I'm not voting on them either. I don't have a strong stance on anything, really. I don't have a lot of content, true, but I rarely ever do. I'd vote on Albatross, but, well... you've said everything I was thinking better than I could. Maybe I need to review the thread more.
-
Ah, I see. I missed that. Ehh... true enough, I suppose. Again, I'll hold off on voting until I hear what @Sunburst Toucan has to say- they haven't been on since their post last cycle.
