  1. "Is this grass?" wondered Selppaenip, inspecting the floor. Not to be outdone, Bacon the Bard turned everything a pulsing neon orange.
  2. "Hmm," said Bacon the Bard. "Were you evil? I can't remember."
  3. Lettuce stirred. [Hmm? Did something happen?] "I imagine we can help with that!"
  4. "Yes..." said Bacon the Bard. "The only question is where 'here' is."
  5. Bacon the Bard sighed. "There sure are a lot of weasels in these woods," he said, considering all of the glowing outlines. "How are we going to find your weasel?"
  6. "Would you like me to annihilate that rock for you?" Bacon asked.
  7. Bacon followed, humming an off-key tune. Coincidentally, it happened to be a magical spell that applied the Minecraft glowing effect to all mustelids within a mile radius. Selppaenip thumped to the ground as the portal closed behind him. He surveyed the space. "What a peculiar location! Where are we, precisely?" @Ancient Elantrian Nogard dropped to his knees next to Subversion. It didn't look like she'd been injured seriously, but... Please wake up, he thought worriedly.
  8. "I'm sorry," said Pheonix from behind Star. Nothing else. What else was there to say? The wind blew, gentle yet firm. Pheonix's flame flared slight, then dimmed once again. "They all hate me," whispered Star. "For who I was. Who I am." I don't hate you. The words formed on Pheonix's lips, but he couldn't force them out. What use were they? They were just words. "Sometimes..." The wind blew Star's hair into her face. She made no motion to move it away. "Sometimes I wonder if everyone would be better off if I just... didn't exist." Pheonix couldn't think of any words that would make that better. So he just hugged her. They sat like that, together, until the last of the light faded from the sky.
  9. "And don't come back to me until you have!" declared the oracle, stepping back behind the tree and vanishing.
  10. "Everywhen and nowhen," replied Bacon cryptically.
  11. Erif frowned, trying to read the book. "What's annoying?"
  12. The book described the current scene, up to the point where Tull had begun to read. Bacon pulled out a magnifying glass, peered at Shoe, then nodded. "I pronounce you pneumonia-free."
  13. Erif glanced at Tull, then at the oracle. "What?" she said. "The journey is important." Then she sighed. "But sometimes the destination is also important. You haven't read the whole book yet, have you?" Eric paused. "No, but-"
  14. Erif looked at Ista, confused. "I met a what?"
  15. Erif fished the Book of Unwinding Thread out of his pocket and brandished it. "You told me this would help me!" he accused. "But it's just a book of stories!" The oracle folded her arms. "And has it helped you?" Erif sputtered. "... how is a book of stories supposed to help me?"
  16. "Right here," said a voice. A tall, middle-aged woman stepped out from behind a tree. "Now. What are you doing in my forest?"
  17. "But nothing," said Erif firmly. "You saved me; I'm not going to let you pledge yourself to a crazy lady that clearly does not have your best interests in mind."
  18. "You broke my curse! That wasn't a disaster."
  19. "No, Tull!" Erif said sternly. "Don't listen to her!" He glanced at Ista, questioning. "Mostly we run away from trouble!"
  20. "Who is back?" Erif asked sharply, looking to Ista. No not Tull "Oh, we've been all over the place! There's so much to do!" "Then let us depart!" Selppaenip lifted ... and took a mighty leap towards the rapidly closing portal.
  21. "Well," said Erif, "there is an oracle nearby I need to..." He trailed off. "Are you well?"
  22. Bacon lowered his voice. "Here's a secret; so am I." He grinned.
  23. Bacon grinned. "She proposed the idea. I thought it sounded wonderful! And her adventures have been quite interesting since we met."
