  1. "Let's not be too hasty," said Wryn calmly. "It has been many years since we have had occasion to converse."
  2. "Oh, you can always find an equipment shop in a city if you need one," explained Gerald.
  3. His struggles were to no avail. The burning sensation spread into his heart- then, gradually, began to subside. "Life is such a messy thing, is it not?" rasped the Doctor introspectively. "Ah... if you could only see the release that death brings."
  4. "I'm sure that can be arranged," affirmed Gerald.
  5. "Perhaps we should find a scabbard," suggested Gerald.
  6. "Interesting," said Gerald. "Apparently, the sword is not enchanted to be light to wield."
  7. "Brace yourself," said the Doctor. "This will hurt." With one sharp, final motion he pushed the sphere into Daolan's chest. Whatever it was, it burned like fire as it moved inwards. Inwards... and towards his heart.
  8. Gerald shook his head. This place was odd- set off his quest senses at the slightest thing. Most irritating. How was he supposed to know what things would be narratively significant?
  9. Slowly - as befitted doors of their stature - the gates swung open, allowing Herate to pass through and into the courtyard beyond. In the center of said courtyard stood the Wyrn. On one side of him, the regular soldiers stood in a row stretching from him to the gate. Opposing them stood the Myrkaal, looking unusually subdued. "Welcome home, daughter," he said.
  10. The frog, being a cardboard cutout, did not speak.
  11. It was a poster for some event.
  12. Ashley was quiet for a moment. "You know," she said slowly, "I might be able to help."
  13. "Ah, if I could only show you," spoke the Doctor, "Alas, my time with you is short..." He sighed heavily, reaching forward with his hand and pushing the sphere towards Daolan's chest.
  14. "No," agreed the Doctor. "It is more than good. It is glorious." The liquid began to lift off his hand and form into a sphere spinning in midair.
  15. The Doctor coughed furiously for a few moments. "What do you think?" he rasped once he had regained control of his breathing. A smile stretched across his face as a strange dark liquid began to pool in his hand.
  16. Changing the subject, how dost one create memes?
  17. "Hm," said the Doctor introspectively. "People don't usually think so, I've found. I wonder why?" He restrained another chuckle, barely. "But enough with the pleasantries. There is medicine to be administered."
  18. The tattered figure tittered slightly. "You can call me... hm... the Doctor, yes. The Doctor." He gave another choking laugh, as though he couldn't help himself.
  19. "Can you heal transmogrification?" asked Gerald.
  20. "Things went a little too fast for me to recover anything," replied Ashley. She sighed. "It looks like almost all of it was destroyed, anyways. The things I stored in this lab, that is - the things stored on the lower levels may still be intact. But that's not the only reason we need to go downstairs. None of my colleagues were able to escape; presumably, the dyrling that is the root cause of all this captured them and is keeping them somewhere."
  21. His design is successful in allowing him to escape. "We need to go down," said Ashley. "The child ran down the stairs, but he locked the door behind him. Rakushta, could you blow it up?"
  22. The monster takes a moment to register and respond to Andante and Ayia's dash to the door - by the time he moves to snap at them, it is too late. They have escaped.
