  1. "Well," rebutted Bacon, "If you aren't the leader, your instructor might argue it doesn't count. Defeating Ciara didn't count, after all." "Too much responsibility! I make it my business to avoid such at all costs."
  2. "Is that not part of your CD? Learning how to be a leader?" "That I'm the leader!" grumbled Bacon.
  3. "Beosta, of course! This is her final project, after all." He sniffed. "And I don't appreciate your implication." "Beats me," grumbled Bacon. "I guess Onyx thinks it would be 'too dangerous', or something like that."
  4. "Spirits of darkness and destruction. They have a nasty habit of making more of themselves if left unchecked." "Perfect!" said Bacon. "A withergeist infestation is unquestionably dangerous, but also very likely within your capabilities. I-" Bacon suddenly spotted a note included next to the posting. But it wasn't part of the dump- it had been added after the information had been retrieved from the ennullers' system. Bacon. Don't get involved with this one, or I'll lock you up for a hundred years. I mean it. It wasn't signed, but Bacon knew who it was from anyways. "...huh," said Bacon. "It appears I will not be able to accompany you. How unfortunate."
  5. Bacon bowed. "Thank you, thank you." "Actually, that part's already been done for us, courtesy of Onyx! He has a backdoor into their system." "Well, there are a few options here. There's a crack in the Wall... a Narrator who attempted an assault on Ennuller HQ... a town with a withergeist infestation."
  6. "Well, your instructor is an ennuller, yes? I happen to know that the Ennullers keep a list of 'current situations of interest' in their system. Sort of like a cross between a to-do list and a bounty board." Bacon paused for emphasis. "So, what if we hacked into the system and found a job for you to do?"
  7. "Hmm. You know, I have an idea of how to find something your instructor will have to recognize as heroic."
  8. "Are any of those things heroic?" asked Bacon dubiously.
  9. There is little I enjoy more than endangering characters. A spirit of darkness and destruction. They spread corruption and devastation wherever they go. "Well then!" said Bacon. "What next, Beosta? Do you have any heroic deeds in mind?"
  10. How about a powerful withergeist? "Rogue Narrator." Somewhat of an oxymoron, that is.
  11. "Don't worry," assured Bacon. "I have a one hundred percent success rate with form fabrication."
  12. Cold hands? Yrank and Castom... I don't know where @The H went. "Well, we don't know what we're doing either, so you'll fit right in!"
  13. Selppaenip jumped down and peered through the portal. He gasped. "The Plan! They have captured him!" "What?" exclaimed Nogard, following closely behind. He gasped as he saw what was happening on the other side of the portal. "We need to help them!" "Certainly I could, if I so wished. But are you so certain you would be willing to accept the consequences of my involvement?" TP felt a tickle on the end of his nose. He frowned, crossing his eyes to try and see what it was.
  14. Only 100 more to go to the big 3000! The two Bacons merged into one. "Here's the rest of the adventuring party! Shoe, Beosta, this is Salem." "Just put the soul on the body; that should do the trick."
  15. "Back at the castle," said Bacon, reopening the portal.
  16. "Friends of mine," replied Bacon. "We're a sort of adventuring party at the moment." "Yep!" Bacon said to the group of wall-replacement consultants. "That's good!" There was the beep of heavy machinery as a new wall was lowered into place. "How'd it go?" asked Bacon.
  17. Bacon shrugged. "Anything I want, really. Whatever I Narrate becomes reality. And my name is Bacon because it is."
  18. "What?" said Bacon. "I'm a Narrator. I have no need for any physical thing. I can make food simply by willing it into existence." He conjured a banquet table for emphasis.
  19. Bacon waved his hand, and a string appeared between Salem's hand and the doorway. It faded from view, until all that was left visible was a thin band around her finger. "Wherever you are," Bacon explained, "this will pull you home. Now! Bacon sandwiches!" With that, he teleported them both to his castle. Tomato the Tarantula cocked her head as they appeared. "Oh! Are you new?" Salem wasn't part of the group where everyone else is. She was on her own, alone, in a house. Bacon just showed up. "The machine is functional," said Onyx.
  20. Perhaps that is for the best. Selppaenip nodded as though he understood. The group stood and waited for Subversion to open the portal. "What sort of help do you think I could provide?" The voice was very slightly bitter.
  21. Do you not remember Bacon's deranged alter ego?
  22. Bacon immediately had the thought arrested and executed.
  23. Bacon coughed. "I'll just, uh... go then." He strutted out awkwardly in his mech.
