  1. Working out was life changer for me. Still feel sad sometimes of course but I need an important reason for that now. Started working out a year ago, simple push ups and stuff, life seems better. It does not have to be about bodybuilding or fitness, all I do is push my body a bit. I burn through that excessive energy which most of us bookworms and nerdy people tend to hoard and suddenly I don't have enough of it to waste it on being sad :)) Clears my mind as well and after some time of doing it I started getting serious confidence boosts out of it. It's good for health obviously and when I started seeing changes in my body I stopped being lazy and avoiding stuff that need hardship and time to give you something back. So yeah, best medicine for my sadness is imagining I'm some badass warrior who's gonna kick some villains chull later on but first he needs a little timeskip to get stronger and this totally works :D :D

If exercise doesn't works, than stop being sad, be awesome instead and try it again. Simple as that :D

  2. Haha, Benjamin is my Llarimar! He is one of the ones I could move around, though, as he doesn't really fit Llarimar's description (portly). I can see him as a reasonable choice for Denth as well, but I don't have a good backup for Llarimar then. This casting was like a puzzle that's missing pieces--I only have so many pieces that can go in so many places, and if I fill one spot then there's nothing else to fill this other spot and it is very annoying Hollywood needs more Latin@ actors.

So you can reference here, Cracknut, "I made my cast on the assumption that the area of Nalthis where Hallandren and Idris are located is environmentally similar to South America, specifically between Peru and Brazil. As such, all of the images in my graphics are from there, and 99% of my actors are either born in Latin America, of direct descent in a very few cases, or at minimum a person of color. Hallandren is a jungle. I picked the Amazon, but we could very well use the Congo, or India, or Polynesia."

Hence my exclusion of anyone from the Firefly cast, because although the verse is apparently dominated by the Chinese, they did not feature a single Asian actor, and the majority of the main cast was white.. I am attempting to avoid using black actors or Asian here, as I am using them more heavily in my Mistborn casting and, should I take up the burden, a possible Stormlight cast. If it makes you feel better, if I do an Elantris casting there will probably be mostly white people there.

Also, because of the sheer amount of ah, usage of any actor from Firefly/Lord of the Rings/Doctor Who/Sherlock/Supernatural etc I've seen on all the casting threads on 17s, I am rather biased against any actor from there. It's totally fine if you think Baldwin and Fillion would be good in Warbreaker! They're decent actors! You're welcome to list them in your own dream cast. But I do not want them anywhere near my casting.

I read that I just don't understand why. And I'm saying this third time: I don't find Baldwin and Fillion fitting. I don't really do these dream-cast things but okay for letting me do it. Did I ever tell you that you should put Baldwin or Fillion in your cast? Nope. I simply stated my opinion on your choice of Denth. Or I'm not supposed to do stuff like that because that's your dream cast?

  3. John has had a huge variety of roles, and most of them are /not/ bad guys or any twist to them at all.

Adam Baldwin? Does the "good guy was actually a bad guy all along" in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS ROLES. all of them. This is his typecast. He also is, tbh, not that great of an actor. He has a limited skillset. And Nathan Fillion is almost always the traditional buff superhero type, which does not fit a single character in Warbreaker (I'm assuming you're suggesting them for Vasher vs Denth, so Adam would give away Denth's true allegiance instantaneously, and Nathan is just. I'm gonna laugh if you think Vasher is a buff manly dude. He's a dweeby, if talented swordsman, scientist.)

Furthermore, they're both white and therefore have no place on Nalthis.

If you had read previous posts you would know its reversed. Nathan as a bad guy(denth) while Adam as a good guy(Vasher). He might have played mixed roles but for me that guy pretty much screams villain. As of Nathan Fillion, I don't see him being your average 'hero' in Firefly. He's pretty good at being gray morality kind of a good guy which Vasher is. But again I was talking about him being bad guy... And as you can see I've stated it myself that they don't fit those roles...

Btw why should Denth be Latino?

Edit: Yes I can see Vasher as a buff manly dude. Scholars can be buff manly dudes. But again, it misses the point.

Edit again: You obviously haven't seen EVERY SINGLE ONE OF ADAM's ROLES.  Firefly even though he's not the best guy there and Chuck.

  4. Best part in this book for me was that twist. You cast someone like John Leguizamo as Denth, I'll see it coming mile away. I would rather have someone with more of an trustworthy reputation, who hasn't done that twist role thousand times already :D

Adam Baldwin vs. Nathan Fillion is too good even if they don't fit their roles at all :D

  5. Eh, theres some minor character development for Kvothe, but really nothing important. I'd skip it if I reread the book. The you'll notice when the section starts and I believe it ends at the end of a chapter so just skim read whatever you want.

There's some stuff later on, but its not as graphic and can be skimmed very easily.

Can't agree with that. First off it has important character development. There's a big confidence leap between Kvothe before Felurian and after. Especially when interacting with women. Whole redheaded waitress part proves that. Then there's a lot of information about world and some of the legends get touched. And as far as I'm concerned there hasn't been anything in these books that was unimportant. It might look that way right now to some of that but I doubt it won't play some kind of role in part 3.

I read both books when I was 16 and didn't even think about it.

Edit: Just remembered that it was recommended by 15 year old girl............

  6. welcome timemagetim

I generally favor battle anime (manga), but I agree, anime has so MANY different types of shows within it.  If you like Death Note, you may want to check out Bakuman.  Totally different type of story, but done by the same two creators of Death Note.  I enjoyed it immensely.

And it kinda tells story of them writing Death Note :)
You should watch Code Geass if you haven't. Sci-fi/Mecha version of DN with more school/comedy/romance/action and a much better ending.

And check out Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It's done by the same two dudes who did Kill la Kill, although it's much more serious project and has less fan-service, art and animation is samey.

oh and It has as much in common with Mistborn as Death Note has with Code Geas.

btw how far are you into Cosmere?

  7. So there's what I think.
17thshard is trying to catch him because:
    a) They don't know what his motives are and he has too big of an influence to leave him alone. He's potential danger to Cosmere, and as long as they can't control him at least to some point he needs to be caught.
    B) They need his knowledge. 17thshard might be most knowledgeable organisation in Cosmere but compared to him they're children.
    c) 17thshard is doing something big, but Hoid is messing with their plans.
    Or all of them.

    Hoid as main antagonist:
I think Hoid shattered Adonalsium but he did it accidentally and now is trying to redeem himself by recreating it. He will be main antagonist of cosmere, because recreation of Adonalsium will also recreate Cosmere and destroy what it already is. I wouldn't say that he would be worse than Odium for that. Odium is pure hate, there's nothing more about him while Hoid is a human. He doesn't wants to destroy Cosmere, but for greater good and righting his own wrong he will do it. So ending won't be some good vs evil battle, it will be human vs human.
At this point I doubt 17thshard knows Hoid's motives so I don't think they're trying to catch him for that. They would be trying harder surely and Hoid's good at hiding his personality.

    17thshard:
There was a topic about Kelsier being a man-made shard and leader of 17thshard organisation. I'm buying that. there it is.
This also would explain why Kelsier and Hoid wouldn't get along. Because Hoid will destroy existing Cosmere to recreate Adonalsium while Kelsier will never have that.

  8. Legion isn't Cosmere novel. I've seen some people recommending it as a Cosmere novel here in a lot of threads but it can really ruin expectations if it's not Cosmere related. Just saying...

Warbreaker is great, I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's my favorite or that it's Brandons best work but it's a must if you're getting into Cosmere and it has all the great things we love in Sandersons other books so you'll most likely enjoy it. I would recommend reading this before WoR though. The Emperor's Soul is best read before Stormlight Archive as well.

I wouldn't go into Alloy after trilogy. There are lots of references and its kinda same world, but it has totally different story/pacing/atmosphere. It's better to take some time and get over HoA first :)

  9. I don't disagree with anything you said, really, but I do have a quibble: Hoid doesn't say he'd destroy or burn worlds to get what he wants, he says he would let it happen. A pretty important distinction. Also, we do know that Hoid can't/won't harm people directly via WoB, Hoid himself in WoR, and Rock in WoR.

Same here but the fact that he will 'let it happen' can be explained by that WoB as well :D

  10. Hoid tells a joke about how he can think of nothing worse than a man who tries to change things on a large scale. It's funny, because it's what he's doing, but it also applies as a criticism as Kelsier. Kelsier is also something of a psychopath, and enjoyed killing. Hoid is opposed to the whole killing thing, so it's possible he dislikes Kelsier for that.

Hoid and Kelsier both would burn whole worlds to achieve their goals so that's not exactly the thing there. We haven't seen Hoid kill anyone but that's either because we don't get much of his story or he simply can't harm people directly. Kelsier will do anything for survival of mankind, while Hoid will destroy mankind for whatever his goal is. At least that's as much as we know so far and that seems a good reason for them to dislike each other.

  11. My favorite anime series of all time is Rurouni Kenshin. It was the second anime series I had ever watched (the first being Flame of Recca). It was back in my high school days and I remember watching it on VHS and thinking it was epic. I have yet to watch it a second time, but I plan on doing that sometime in the near future.

    My other favorites are:

    Full Metal Alchemist

    Trigun (Vash the Stampede!)

Naruto (would be amazing without all the fillers and sometimes it drags on and on...)

Bleach (again would be great without all the fillers)

    Death Note

    Attack on Titan

    Gundam 00

I hear that Code Geass: LeLouch of the Rebellion is really good. I plan on watching that next.

Code Geass is closest anime to Death Note there is. It has much more action/romance/comedy/school though which makes it even better at least for me and it chooses sci-fi way of doing stuff instead of fantasy. Ultimately its better than Death Note simply because it's ending wasn't scrapped and it's second season did much better than DN's. So if DN is your favorite as well as Gundam 00 than you'll most likely love it.

  12. One of Renarin's weaknesses so far has been that Shardblade. He didn't freeze in duel because of his disease. It happened because he had to summon and hold that sword. So I don't see why would he want to keep it even if dualwielding shardblades was a smart thing to do.

Having two Shardblades would only be useful if you Were fighting UnSharded Opponents, or if both the Spren blades were still alive, and could Change.  If you got a Bunch of Spren to bond to you, could they all take different shapes, and make a Set of Power Armor? (Not Shardplate, I'm more talking about the Iron Monger suit.)

How exactly would using two Shardblades versus UnSharded opponents be useful? It would exhaust Shardbearer faster and make him slower while giving him no real advantages. Dual wielding is weaker in every way except speed which doesn't applies to huge swords like dead-spren-blades and versatility. First one is pointless no matter who's your opponent while second one... I don't see why Shardbearer would need two Shardblades to fight regular soldier... On the other hand it would work against other Shardbearers, especially in duel matches, because Shardbearers don't get any training with/against two Shardblades and I'm not sure how their stances would work against it. But most likely it would still be worse than a single Shardblade, except in some special cases. Smaller Shardblades though would have a huge advantage while dual wielded. Is it possible to hold two Honorblades? And I'm really interested if its possible to turn your Spren into two weapons.

I hope Szeth will get his own Sprenblade in next book and wield it with Nightblood.

  13. He's got some spunk. He also is a real wimp-although it isn't his fault, it's still annoying later on. And there's some points in WoR where he gets really annoying. I can't say any more because of Spoilers. You should hurry up and read WoR or you'll miss being able to participate in the great threads without getting spoiled.

He was pretty cool in WoR. Awesome enough to stand beside Adolin even though he didn't even have pov. At least that's how I see it.

Edit: Shallan was one annoying me with the way she acted with him and pretty much everyone else except Kal and Bridge 4.

  14. That would be a fun scene to read...

Would you like to kill some evil?

Nale appraised the sword for a moment then blandly responded, "Yes, I would." He looked up to find the strange man who threw the sword at him scratching his head in a very what now? fashion.

Now imagine Szeth throwing it at Zahel :D
