  1. Perhaps the blood of an Epic would be like Kryptonite to him? So murdering/Sacrificing a fellow Epic would weaken him, and defeating an Epic would leave him very drained. He would have enhanced senses and reflexes, and a Sherlock like ability to re-conjure any information has ever taken in - though it takes a little while.
  2. There is something I have done many times...
  3. Do we have confirmation that the Dawnshards are not another name for the Honour Blades? Other than that, I would speculate that they are Cultivation's equvilant of the Dawnshards. The name impklies to me they were the first splinters that Shards made... So maybe they are that? Or maybe they are the name of Adonailisum Spren? DAWN shards, splinters from the Dawn of life on Roshar?
  4. I just realized how much of an emotional experience realizing Dragonsteel/Liar will be. Because by the time they come out, we'll know precisely what Ati and Leras will become, and the destiny that awaits them all...
  5. Well, I would discount any of the Shards, because their actions are dictated by their nature... I despise Wyrn - his perversion of a world religion for military conquest is despicable, and is clearly capable of genocide. He's like a Fusion of Bin Laden and Hitler! Sadeas on the other hand has a personal treachery to take into account... Its very difficult.
  6. "Split Atoms" might be interesting....
  7. I kind of like to imagine The Lord Ruler with Starkid's rendition of "Twisted" which is a parody of Aladdin in the style of "Wicked" showing the traditionally "Villainous" characters in a sympathetic light... I can imagine The Lord Ruler singing "Twisted" (The song, for which the musical is named) from a thematic standpoint, but I can't imagine what the other characters singing the chorus would be... Other than that, Vin and Elend, when the world is ending... Queen's "Who wants to live forever?" Could be rather moving.
  8. When your mad, because the nearest signing is 4,000 kilometres away, and in a different timezone.
  9. Small Gods is FANTASTIC. It does contain a lot of reflection on the merits of religion, and what can happen when it is abused. But from someone as critical of Religion as Pratchett, its very balanced and thought provoking, and the story is great. Reaper Man is excellent - as is Mort. If you are a first timer, you can't go wrong with the "Watch" sequence of Discworld. "Guards Guards" is a little wobbly, but everything after that is excellent. Night Watch and Thud are my all time favorites. I have heard good things about "Sourcery" though I've not read that one yet, and Hogfather is brilliant.
  10. I caught this on Second Reading - but couldn't make head or tail of it.
  11. I would suggest that the Kandra were a thriving civilization now - without the fear of Allomancy, they need not have a Contract at all, since they have no motive to gather Atium. I would suggest that in this universe, Kandra owe their sentience not to Hemalurgy - but to their being splinters of Preervation. As a result, they would be unfamiliar with Blessings, and the like. On the other hand, Mistwraiths might owe their existence to Ruin Splinters. This would grant them the size increasing and strength increase capabilities of a Mistwraith - absrbing bones and bones to become stronger - and yet grant them the sentience that makes Kandra dangerous. Mistwraith would become a viable threat. I would suggest that the Homeland was known of - if not specifically by the characters. Rumors and legends of the Kandra Homeland might be abound, forcing the characters to go the Homeland at some point? They could even be the ones responsible for the gathering of Lerasium (which would have the effect of weakening the overall population in regards to Allomancy). Since this is a game - it could result in a Mistborn character burning a piece of Lerasium in order to become powerful enough to challenge the Lord Ruler - since in this version of the Universe, random Spikings are unlikley to occur. This could be your gateway to hero characters. Kelsier, Vin, Marsh etc, have obtained (knowingly or not) Lerasium at some point, and have used to make themselves stronger. THIS Is what grants them the ability to puncture Copperclouds etc. I have a suggestion. Mistwraiths would be much more powerful, now that Ruin's power is free to manifest... Mistitans - Titanic mistwraiths, of huge proportions could appear. One could even attack Luthandel, forcing the emergence of the Lord Ruler (Who uses his powers to defeat it?) would be one form of a Mistwraith, infused with Ruin's Power. Perhaps, since Mistwraiths and Kandra could become the splinters of Ruin and Preservation, they would seek to devour splinters - devouring Kandra, humans and other mist wraiths to consume their investiture. The Deepness would not be the mists, out of control, but a Mistwraith of Apocalyptic proportions. A Leviathan Splinter, with enough invesiture to swallow the world.
  12. Perhapes, there would be multiple classes of Kandra now? Mistwraith's and Kandra would not be of the same species - but opposites? One spliters of Preservation - and the other of Ruin.
  13. Perhapes, the Splinters of Ruin, could take the form of some kind of Steel Inquistor/Kandra/Koloss hybrid - with a hell of a lot more power... Since they'd be perfectly sentient, they could be the chiefs of the Ministry? Alternatively, if you wanted to depart from the story somewhat, they could be the real power manipulating the Lord Ruler, Or you can provide the Steel Inquisitors with Weapons of new power... "Savant Scepters" massivly boosting their powers, without the need of hemelurgy? Therefore, the Steel Ministry has a much more human face. Its also possible that the Koloss and Kandra have their own civilizations now - since the splintering would have granted them said Sceptres - and therfore, allomancy - meaning the LR would be unable to mentally control them - due to the decrease in hemelurgy?
  14. When your favourite Christmas Present in the UK, is the Hardback, Signed Editions of "Mistborn", ordered in from the US, because they won't publish in hardback in the UK - At least, until you are halfway through the series, and therefore feel obliged to stay in Paperback to retain the pattern.
  15. Since Spen are splinters, perhaps Honourblades are not Spren - but Splinters? I'd buy that they were Adonalsium Spren - arpart from the fact that They appear to confer Honour's magic system upon the holder, suggesting to me a closer relation to Honour than Adonalsium.
  16. Hmm... This is interesting, because I enjoyed the Story of Elantris very much. The themes on Religion, Romance, Politics, Social injustice, all fairly typical themes that appear in many books, but pulled off so well it wasn't an glorified pamphlet. However, Its not his best written book. Equally, White Sand was a very good read, mainly because it was so self contained, and was a nice change of pace from he universe shattering (Forgive the pun) of the events elsewhere in the Cosmere... My all time favorite though, has to go to "The Well Of Ascension". Its the classic second act of the trilogy. Earthshaking things are revealed, it ends on a dismal note, with friends lost the success of the good guys far from certain. A wonderfully portrayed siege, a marvelous villain in the form of Elend's father, the character of Zane, and the individual character arcs of Elend, Vin and Sazed were marvelous. A triumph.
  17. I enjoy Legion, because it is so different to what I am used to. Although, I have also finished "The Magicians" by Lev Grossman, which reads very much like a mature crossover of Narnia and Hogwarts, but with a darker, mature feel to it. Keeping it grounded, while still having a fairytale feel to it... A Classic Fairytale though... dark and deadly. Its hard to explain, but is worth a read.
  18. Definitely add Elantris to the the List. If you are hungry for more Sanderson, Legion and the Emperor's Soul are both good, as it "The Rithmatist" If you are looking for something a little different, I have been Enjoying "The Gentlemen Bastards". Reads like a Heist Movie, in fantasy Venice.
  19. I don't know what I expected from the title... But I had visions of an Amnesiac Sanderfan, stranded in Dubai...
  20. Well, understanding the Lord Ruler was a big one.
  21. I'll admit it. I was as oblivious as an Aluminum-Burning Inquisitor. I didn't even notice Hoid in Mistborn. I didn't even notice it was the same character that appeared twice in the series - or in Elantris. In fact, I had read both Elantris, Mistborn and Warbreaker - before I noticed Hoid, and even then, only when I realized how popular he was on the Forums./
  22. You ever read David Eddings? The Belgariad and Mallorean Series are some of my favorites.
  23. Washington Cathedral is impressive, but take a look at Westminster. The Catholic Church in England had dozens of impressive Cathedrals until the reformation during which the Anglicans pinched them.
  24. Ha! I loved it, and knew immediately that, of course the fans would hate it. Is a show where you could literally tell any story, in any time. But its always the alien card. You know, in the original couple of seasons, every other story was Historical? It would only feature historical characters and events? "The Aztecs" played with the idea of rewriting history, (To which the First doctor replied: You can't just rewrite history! Not one line!" I loved the episode, although, i'll admit the arrow at the end was cheesy. I loved (After a nights sleep and thinking about it) that the explanation for Robin Hood was simply that he DID exist. Why can't there be Heros? Why do we have to assume that because the universe is so cruel sometimes, there can't be real Hero's? Sometimes, it isn't too good to be true.
