Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Signing up as Sheodan, a soldier in Eondel's army. Sheodan had lived in Arelon for all of his twenty two years of life. His existence had never been pleasant, but the last few years had been steadily getting worse. Count Eondel's private army may have been the best fighting force in Arelon, but such status did not lead to prosperity. Rather, it meant patrolling empty roads through the night, waiting for bandits that never came. He did not leave though, could not leave as there was nowhere else for him to go. The skills he had learned from his brother had no place in a civilized society. Sheodan was a man of the sword now, bound to his liege lord. Eondel was an honorable man, and a kind one. He hadn't turned Sheodan away ten years ago when Elantris fell. Sheodan would follow him anywhere, even back to Kae, his birthplace, a city he'd hoped to never revisit. The place he had fled as far from as possible while still remaining in Arelon. Apparently, there were some Mysteries cultists that needed killing. If that was what Eondel wanted, that was what Sheodan would do. Life was so much simpler without the responsibility of choice.- 1185 replies

Mid-Range Game 28: Knives in the Dark
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Elenion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm fairly sure that Jondesu has sold out the village to the people actually helping him with his win condition. I suppose Madagascar is the other person most likely to be the last Escaped Inmate, so I can vote on her, not that it makes much difference. @Jondesu, if for some reason the game doesn't end after this cycle, would you mind not helping the evil players win? If I die this cycle, you will have already won, and if I don't, I will vote for a contagious player, which will trigger your win condition. -

Did you try to use your ability last cycle? If so, who did you target? Similarly, we could lose in a turn or two. The best case is that the alignment change was neutral->good, in which case we would have a 5:1:1 good/neutral/evil ratio. The worst case is that there is an evil convert and a converter in addition to one remaining Escaped Inmate for a 3:1:3 ration, which would make a mislynch fatal. The tinfoil corollary to this is that said converter and convert are Stink and Hero, voting on Steeldancer in an attempt to get Jondesu to support them. Which is actually seeming a little bit likely, as Jondesu shouldn't normally want to lynch a contagious person. Since we've had a consistent one non-Skybreaker kill every cycle, it seems reasonable to assume that either there is at least one Escaped Inmate, or the Escaped Inmates can't kill and that all the deaths have caused by an evil kill role. I would view the first possibility as more likely, but who knows. Eternum's death could have been caused by an unscanned player lying about their role. This does mean that a situation where an evil converter can have up to two converts in unlikely, as a maximum six evil players in a game with only 19 players, four of which are neutrals, would be extremely hard for the village to win. 1. Jondesu: Div Neutral Hiccuper(contagious) 2. Devotary of Spontaneity: Akhanaka, a fearless ardent Scholar 3. Droughtbringer Scholar(contagious) 4. STINK: Trumpet Guy, BWOOT Politician(currently exposed) 5. Madagascar: "Mad" Mapadonet, a famous pig researcher. Psychiatrist 6. Herowannabe: Nabbers, a Herdazian chouta street vendor Scholar(currently exposed) 7. Steeldancer Scholar(contagious) If the cycle ended right now without a win for either side, the only players without the hiccuping disease would be Madagascar and I. @Jondesu, I assume that you win if the game ends with the last non-infected player dying, but could you confirm that? The only way to confirm my role is to vote and hope for a Citizen!Stink to target me. I'm concerned about Jondesu's vote on Steeldancer, as that doesn't make any sense unless Jondesu is voting as part of a deal. I would not be at all surprised if Madagascar or I end up dead 3 hours from now. For now, I'm going to vote on Herowannabe, as he's one of the two players most likely to be the last Escaped Inmate(if any are left) and is a potential convert if indeed an evil converter exists. -

You wouldn't be corrupted unless you used a Shardic ability twice consecutively. Being roleblocked when Silverlight blew up stopped this from happening. Also, Joe has already given away his Odium. It would have taken a long time to lynch either Drake or I. Drake had his 11 starting charges of Investiture, and I could have given Ruin to Ripple, which would have allowed me to become an unlynchable Scadrian hemalurgist. Fifth probably would have killed me, though. Ah well. We were only one turn away from getting your Shard, and then HH had to end the game on us. Seriously, 5 Shards invested in Ripple? I don't suppose you'll accept this as a new container? I'm not sure what you need a container for, but this polestone will hold a being of Shardic power. -

Ruin #1 was Megasif. You don't really need two copies of Preservation, do you? I can trade you a charge of Preservation's Investiture for the old one. -

So now the lynch is tied, and the options are a player who will survive the lynch and a player who can't be bothered to defend themselves. I would prefer to lynch someone who will actually die, so I will vote for Livinglegend. Perhaps Odium or Ruin will kill Drake tonight. I have purposefully left this until the last minute in an attempt to force Drake to take the Scadrial action to defend himself from a possible lynch, which will allow him to be killed tonight. -

I'm pretty sure Elbereth can't be Ruin, because she hasn't signed into the Shard since before the start of the last night cycle. @Megasif has been online several times, but hasn't said anything since Tuesday. I am entirely willing to lynch Drake, as his reasoning for lynching Fifth were shaky and his comment about trying to keep the elim teams balanced could easily have come from a member of Hoid's team. @Drake Marshall, although you're online and will probably see this anyway. However, these posts from @livinglegend are confusing. If LL gives a convincing reason for this discrepancy, I will probably vote on Drake. If not, there may well be a good reason he's under suspicion from three different angles from Randuir, Fifth, and Stick. New Vote Tally: Drake(5): Randuir, Fifth, Eternum, Pyro, HH Ripple(2): Joe, Steel Fifth(2): Drake, Mage LL(2): Stick, Arinian -

If so, it's probably one of Droughtbringer, Coop, or me. Hero is confirmed, and Steeldancer was the first one to claim. Droughbringer could only be lying if he was an escaped inmate since C2, which I don't think he is. And of course, I know I'm not lying about my role. That leaves Coop. -

Coop(3): Eternum, Herowannabe, Devotary Madagascar(2): Steeldancer, Coop We have 25 minutes left if @STINK, @Jondesu, @Madagascar, or @Droughtbringer, would care to vote. I don't like to roleclaim, but at this point I don't think it does any harm to declare that I am also a scholar. This can be confirmed by either Eternum or Stink. -

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Elenion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I could go for a Coop lynch. @Coop772, you should probably respond because you have 3 votes on you. This post seems off to me. I can kind of see the assumption that a scholar who had their alignment changed is now evil or neutral, as scholar by itself doesn't seem like a neutral role and it's unlikely that an evil player changed alignment. I don't see why someone couldn't have their alignment changed to neutral. I've already explained why I found it odd that Coop voted for Hero, so I won't quote that again. I do find it odd that Coop would make the assumption that the removal of Hero's vote meant he was evil. In Coop's first, and so far only, game (QF 29), he was lynched precisely because a village vote manipulator removed his vote two cycles in a row. That isn't actually my role. Elenion won't be on for rollover, and wants someone to announce the end of the cycle when the countdown clock hits zero. As the first person to post after Elenion requested this, I volunteered. That would be an interesting role to have, though. -

Vote Tally: Madagascar(1): Steeldancer Coop(1): Madagascar, Eternum Drought(1): Stink Hero(0): Coop, Eternum Eternum(0): Coop Player List: Claimed roles appear in italics. 1. Jondesu: Div Neutral Hiccuper-Everyone whose final vote is on someone w/ the hiccuping disease is infected. Jon wins if every living player is infected. 2. Devotary of Spontaneity: Akhanaka, a fearless ardent Faux GM-Has the power to announce the end of the cycle. 3. Eternum: Aiden Detective-Learns the name, but not description, of a player's role. 4. Droughtbringer Scholar-Immune to vote manipulation 5. STINK: Trumpet Guy, BWOOT Politician-Can remove someone's vote 6. Madagascar: "Mad" Mapadonet, a famous pig researcher. Psychiatrist-???? 7. Herowannabe: Nabbers, a Herdazian chouta street vendor Scholar-Immune to vote manipulation 8. Coop772 Scholar-Immune to vote manipulation 9. Steeldancer Scholar-Immune to vote manipulation At this point, I mostly trust Stink. I believe that Eternum's announcement of being a detective was something he decided on his own. If he had been working with teammates, he would not have claimed Hero was a scholar as at the time that appeared to be demonstrably false. That's no guarantee Eternum isn't evil, as he could be the last escaped inmate, but it does mean that I believe his role claim. Drought hasn't posted much. The main thing in his favor is that Drake tried to get him lynched towards the end of C1. Steeldancer was the deciding vote on Drake on C1, which makes it less likely that he's evil. All C1 activity could be invalidated now that a player has changed alignment, but it seems unlikely that any of these players were escaped inmates at the start of the game. Jondesu is neutral, and is willing to help any other side. I would suggest that in the case of a solid lynch, perhaps one or two players volunteer to spread the hiccuping disease. This cycle, Stink appears to be that volunteer. The players I'm not sure about are Madagscar, Herowannabe, and Coop. I'll probably vote for one of them before the end of the cycle. -

Elbereth has responded in the Nalthis world doc, and said that she would be able to post today. Does this mean you're planning on staying alive for another cycle? So here is Fifth's post that you were concerned about: I read the use of the plural 'kills' here as analogous to using 'things' as a plural, able to cover any number of results. To make the phrase unambiguously ambiguous, he would have had to say something along the lines of "We'll see how the kill(s) shape up tonight". I could perhaps see an Odium!Fifth saying this, but I wouldn't say that the two kills were a result of collusion for the reasons Fifth, Randuir, and HH brought up. @Drake Marshall, I am slightly confused about your statement that it would be preferable to keep the two elim teams balanced. A single member of an elim faction can still kill (except for Hoid). Eliminating an evil faction reduces the number of threats the village faces and makes it harder for the other faction to hide. Killing members of Khriss's team is all well and good, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't go after Hoid's faction. If you make a good case for why someone is likely to be on Khriss's team beyond accusing Fifth for his word choice, I'll be willing to consider that. From the bottom of page 1 of the signup thread. -

I was more thinking that anyone who went for Preservation N0 could counterclaim these actions. We know a maximum of two people went for Preservation that night, and a maximum of two people went for Honor on night 2. Straw claimed to have gone for Preservation on N0, and I see no reason for him to have lied. It seems unlikely at this point that anyone will claim, though. I didn't get to finish that last post. There key combination for posting really shouldn't be so close to the key combination for copy/pasting. Monster: -

Why can't Odium be aligned with Khriss? YoungBard wasn't a member of her team. @Odium, if you didn't target YoungBard last night, would you mind attacking your target again? It's possible that YoungBard died because he used his Shardic power on teammate. The four main reasons I can see for this are 1.Endowment was roleblocked/redirected 2.They didn't have enough actions remaining 3.They don't want to gain Endowment's win condition and 4.They're an elim and don't want to Return any more villagers than necessary. If this last case is true, there's a fair chance that Bard will be Returned tonight. If either Drake or livinglegend were on Team Hoid, they could have summoned a team member to make it more likely that their team would receive Honour. Since neither of them did, it's probable that either Adonalsium's Chosen has another Shard, or Drake and livinglegend are less likely to be evil. -
Mid-Range Game 28: Knives in the Dark
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Elenion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This is exactly how you got mislynched in QF29. Politicians are not magically endowed with the ability to determine whether someone is evil. Especially with such an uncontested lynch, it seems more likely that a politician attempted to remove Hero's vote not because they thought Hero was evil, but to see if Hero was immune to vote manipulation. The prevalence of scholar roles suggests that scholar is this game's equivalent of roleless, which gives no indication of whether someone with that role is good or evil. I thus see no more reason to suspect Stink for being a politician than to suspect Eternum for being a detective. One could make the claim for either of them that they're likely to be evil because there's already been one villager with their role, but I would not be willing to make that claim. I sincerely doubt that Stink is an Escaped Inmate. I could have seen a team of Orlok and Stink bussing a teammate who wouldn't be sufficiently active, but I really don't see Stink by himself deciding to join a last minute vote to kill a teammate given that Orlok was neutral. -

If it's that Hero's vote is no longer removed, it's a pretty significant change. It means that Hero is indeed a Scholar and Eternum is very likely a role scanner. -

Hero cannot be a scholar if Steeldancer and Droughtbringer are telling the truth. Scholars are immune to vote manipulation, and Hero's vote was removed. Also, The_Lady_of_Chaos posted in thread the cycle they were killed, so her death could not have been caused by Ecthelion. -
