Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Why do you believe there can only be one Jeskeri? According to Jondesu: The wording of this suggests that a target scan and an action scan were two separate actions, presumably both Aon-driven. Were you able to use both the action and target scanning Aons that night? If so, then no Elantrians would have been able to take a kill action, which would allow for the possibility of a Jeskeri Elantrian in addition to any non-Elantrian Jeskeri.- 1185 replies

14 players left. It appears that we need to have an actual lynch, rather than being able to kill the player who was scanned as evil. The Elantrians have restored Elantris and are now able to talk in thread, so they can be fully added to the Jeskeri suspect pool. Do any Elantrians want to add to HH's statement that you considered each other allies?- 1185 replies

A lover only falls in love with a Jindo if that Jindo specifically stops them from committing suicide. Normally, when one lover dies the other kills themselves, but if a Jindo was protecting the lover that didn’t get killed, the second lover will survive and become lovers with the Jindo. That wouldn’t apply to this game, as neither Wilson nor Elenion have been killed.- 1185 replies

So lynching Elenion will apparently kill Wilson as well. If so, as Wilson's probably the last Jindo warrior, the Jeskeri will be free to kill with impunity from now on, bringing us down to 13 players by tomorrow. From there, we have 3-5 mislynches in future cycles until the Jeskeri can control the lynch. Unfortunately, we've just lost our second priest, so we can't depend on scans anymore. Current player list, updated with Lopen's information. At this point, I'm almost entirely certain that none of Lopen, Elenion, and Wilson are Jeskeri. I'm also fairly sure that neither Pyromancer nor Coop are Jeskeri, as a Jeskeri!Pyro wouldn't want to be scanned unless he had a Korathi pendant, and Jeskeri!Joe/Coop would not have used up their Korathi pendant. Other than that, I don't know. We could try to compare the player list with the tendency of Cultists to have fewer roles/items than villagers, but that sort of thing failed to help catch the Derethi, so it might not be worth it.- 1185 replies

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It is suspicious that Steeldancer waited until Day 5 to claim. Let's look at all the people who have died. We know Aman had a Jeskeri pendant and there's no reason to assume Arinian was lying about self poisoning, so let's add those in italics. All the villagers have their items accounted for, so if the player who passed Elenion the pendant is dead, the three choices are Araris, Drake, and Dalinar. It seems that Jeskeri have fewer roles/items than villagers, so Araris and Dalinar are unlikely culprits. Drake though, has a suspicious lack of items, and since he wasn't under too much suspicion until he was scanned it's unlikely that he passed on his item. I think the only used up items for which we haven't discovered the source are the Derethi pendant used on Araris, the Jeskeri pendant that killed Eternum, and the Derethi pendant given to Elenion. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I see no reason for Drake to have used a Derethi pendant on a teammate, so that's out. Drake using a Jeskeri pendant on Eternum is possible, but I think that's unlikely. A Jeskeri pendant would have allowed the Cultists to make a one time kill along with a normal attack that bypassed Jindo protection, and I don't really see them wasting that to kill a Seon holder on Night 2. That leaves the Derethi pendant given to Len as Drake's starting item. In this hypothetical scenario where Steel is the Gyorn and Drake passed a pendant to Elenion, Steel would know who the original pendant holders were. He would also know who used a Derethi pendant on Araris and who gave a Derethi pendant to Elenion, as we got a convert tally on Night 1. By day 5, Steel figures that if the Jeskeri haven't yet claimed to have given Elenion the pendant they're not going to, and thus false claims in an attempt to get himself off the scanning list. I rate this scenario as 'entirely possible'. If somebody provides evidence that they were the one to kill Eternum, this theory would be upgraded to 'plausible'. Either way, I'd rather lynch Steel today rather than @Straw or @STINK Imperial Mint, although I would like to hear more from the latter two.- 1185 replies

3 Jeskeri would be a pitifully small number of elims. Perhaps, as Pyromancer says, this was the cause of the extended cycle. I don't see any reason to think a kill order on a fellow Jeskeri wouldn't go through, so I doubt that's it. Perhaps the player to place the order accidentally submitted three actions and thus got their kill action blocked? It is also possible that all other remaining Jeskeri are inactive. I don't think they would be purposefully stalling with the Derethi seven unconverted players away from winning. Speaking of the Derethi, who are still the main threat, I would assume that the priest scanned someone on the Gyorn/Odiv suspect list. I believe @little wilson and @TheMightyLopen are the priest's contacts and can inform us of the scan results. The Jeskeri are not the village kill. It would be helpful if they managed to kill off the Derethi, but their win condition is still to kill every non-Cultist.- 1185 replies

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Excluding those people is based on the hypotheses that the third player to start with a pendant is the Odiv. Additionally, it so far appears that players started with at most two items, or a role and a single item. If that role and item/two items are accounted for, they could not have also started out with a Derethi pendant. It isn't guaranteed that the player with that pendant is the Odiv, but unless the original holder claims they passed it on and can prove it, that's looking quite likely. The main alternatives are that the Gyorn's first Elantrian convert (Cadmium Compounder) is the Odiv, or that the Gyorn did not select an Odiv until night 3.- 1185 replies

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It's unfortunate that we no longer receive convert tallies at night, but as the number of converts went up by three and Wilson apparently neither used nor passed her pendant, it seems that the player who used the pendant had been converted by the Gyorn and wants Shu-Dereth to win. The fact that whoever used the pendant retained their convert status means that one of the single conversion nights was caused by the Gyorn converting their pendant owning Odiv, or somebody was converted on the same night they were gifted a Shu-Dereth pendant. Since I'm pretty sure the Gyorn has to convert all other players including their Odiv and there was only one conversion on both nights two and three, the former option is looking more likely. If the third player to start with a pendant did pass on their pendant, they should claim now and state who they gave their pendant to. The following is based on the presumption that the player who started with the third pendant is the Odiv. Below is a list of all living players and their starting roles and items, with the Elantrians separated out. Now, we tentatively cross out any name that has a role and an item or two items. If the Gyorn swore an Odiv on Night 1, we can cross out Seonid for being scanned by a Korathi pendant and Joe for doing the scanning. If the Odiv was sworn on Night 2 or 3, this would not be the case as Joe's use of a pendant would not have determined Seonid's convert status and Joe would have had no incentive to hold on to his Korathi pendant as a mere convert. Lopen has apparently mostly cleared Mraize of being the Gyorn, and I assume that applies to him being the Odiv as well. I'm pretty sure it's impossible for there to be an Elantrian Odiv who started with a Derethi pendant, as they can't target outside of Elantris. Hooray! Our Odiv suspect list is essentially the same as our Gyorn list, with Straw, King Cole, Walin, and Imperial Mint being the prime suspects with our secondary suspects being Seonid, Joe, and Mraize. If there were an Elantrian pendant holder who became an Odiv, the schedule would look something like this: D1(3): Pendant holder 1, Steeldancer, Elantrian (Pendant holder 1 uses their pendant on Araris, Steeldancer passes to Elenion, the Elantrian is the Odiv, one becomes converted) D2(4): Araris, Elenion, Elantrian(Odiv, pendant), Elantrian (Araris dies, Elenion passes to Wilson, the Gyorn converts a random player, the Odiv does nothing) D3(4): Wilson, Elantrian(Odiv, pendant), Elantrian, non-Elantrian (The Gyorn converts the Odiv, the Odiv converts an Elantrian) D4(5): Wilson, Elantrian(Odiv, pendant, convert), Elantrian, Elantrian, non-Elantrian (The Gyorn converts Seonid, the Odiv pendants an Elantrian and converts another) D5(8): Wilson, Elantrian(Odiv, convert), Elantrian, Elantrian, Elantrian, random non-Elantrian, Seonid, Elantrian Since there are only four Elantrians, this is impossible, unless the Odiv is capable of converting themselves or the Elantrians have figured out how to target outside Elantris. Either of these cases would make this scenario improbable instead of impossible. Little Wilson: Jindo warrior, Seon A Joe in the Bush/Coop772: Korathi pendant Steeldancer: Derethi pendant, Seon Straw: Elenion: Prince, Seon King Cole: Devotary of Spontaneity: Dula, Seon Mraize: The Honey Badger/Walin: Seon Kidpen: Monarch, Seon Seonid: TheYoungPyromancer: Seon, poison vial Imperial Mint: TheMightyLopen: Prince, Seon Droughtbringer: Cadmium Compounder: Kynedath/Jondesu: Hemalurgic Headshot:- 1185 replies

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To the contrary, this is the weirdest vote manipulation we've seen so far. Mraize and I both voted for Dalinar, so I'm not sure where our votes went. Here are the posts where first I, then Mraize, voted for Dalinar. Lopen and Elenion similarly voted on Dalinar, yet their votes have vanished as well. This is more likely due to the fact that they are allegedly both Princes with Seons, yet their votes would only have disappeared if they used their princely powers. However, no one who didn't vote yesterday appears in the tally, so unless they made someone vote for a no vote, that's not what happened. @Fifth Scholar, what is going on here?- 1185 replies

We know from an edit to the write up that a Korathi pendant was used on the night that Joe said he used a Korathi pendant on Seonid. While it is entirely possible that the Gyorn started out with an alignment concealing pendant, I doubt the Gyorn would squander their scan protection by using that pendant, especially not so early in the game. So far, no one has attempted to counterclaim Joe's use of the pendant, so I'd say it's unlikely that Joe/Coop, is the Gyorn.- 1185 replies

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Shu-Dereth is definitely the bigger threat right now. 8 out of 19 players are converts, that plus the Gyorn make 10 players who either have to die or be converted. We could lose by the end of Night 7 at this rate, if we only lynch non-Derethi while the Jeskeri only kill non-Derethi. Fortunately, our suspect list is fairly short, and lynching the Gyorn should give us at least one more chance to find and lynch the Odiv. Lynching Dalinar removes a Cultist, but they aren't nearly as close to winning. Here's Lopen's Gyorn list from yesterday, which it appears he made by taking the player list and removing the Elantrians and those with a claimed role. His current Gyorn list looks much the same, though it removes Mraize as a suspect for some reason. Pyromancer started with two items, and as he was the first one to theorize that roleless started with two items, it's likely that he's roleless and thus not the Gyorn. We can safely cross Dalinar off the list, as he's been scanned as Jeskeri and is being lynched anyway. I'm not sure why Seonid wasn't on Lopen's list, so I've added him in. @TheMightyLopen, why don't you consider Mraize or Seonid to be suspects? Seonid was supposedly scanned by Joe as Arelish, but that doesn't stop Seonid from having a Korathi pendant. It does make him less likely to be the Gyorn though. I'm not entirely sure what happened with the Joe lynch on Day 4, but it seems that it was decided Joe used a Korathi pendant, which doesn't seem like something a Gyorn would do. @Straw and @King Cole have not been particularly active, although they have been on often enough to put in orders. Imperial Mint has been focusing on RP and hasn't voted since Day 1. Walin has claimed to have a Seon, I think, and possibly a role. @Mraize has posted frequently, but most of his content has either been RP or a single line under somebody else's quote. It's also really hard to find his relevant posts because they're buried between all his other posts in the role-playing section. If Lopen had a good reason for not including him, I can take him off the Derethi list. It's Day 5, and we finally had someone claim to have given Elenion a Derethi pendant. Elenion has also claimed to be a prince, which should be fairly easy to confirm by having him shift the vote of a particular person. He just has to let someone know who's vote he's going to shift, or vote while using both his Seon and his Prince ability to cancel his vote. Unless we later decide that it's possible for a Gyorn to have a secondary role, he should be able to prove he's not the Gyorn Steeldancer started off the game by trying to turn the discussion away from the Derethi towards the Jeskeri. Since then, he's been terse, keeping his suspicions for multiple turns while trying to express his reasoning in dialogue form. He's been more active than most of the other Gyorn suspects, though not as much as Elenion. He claims to have been the one to give a Derethi pendant to Elenion. He also says he possesses Seon Ashe. In LG12, all the Seons had unique names, so if nobody else has a Seon Ashe he's probably telling the truth about that. Having two starting items would support his claim of being roleless. Since the main quality these 9 share beyond being Gyorn suspects is the lack of a claimed role, presumably one of them is the priest. There are also 3 princes unaccounted for, and possibly one Jindo warrior unless Dalinar actually did block a teammate's attack on Wilson. If Elenion proves that he's a Prince, we'll be down to 7 suspects and 2 princes. @TheYoungPyromancer, you said at the start of Day 4 that you had a suspicion contingent on GM clarification. Did anything ever come of that?- 1185 replies

Quick Fix Game 31: <MISSING VARIABLE>

81. Nf7 0.5-0.5 I've been badly neglecting the elim doc since Eternum died, but it still has more pages than the thread. Lets see if we can change that. Person4.exe fought against its impulses, the ones that told it to stay alive at all costs. It looked at Cane and his massive sword, but when Person4.exe tried to imagine throwing itself onto the blade, buried survival instincts aborted those thoughts. Evidently, Person4.exe thought, those instincts would have to be gotten rid of before suicide became achievable. If there was a way to implant false memories, surely there was a way to remove unwanted memories, a method of cleansing the mind of impurities. A total memory wipe would ensure that Person4.exe lacked false memories, but there was no telling how long this state would last, and a wipe wouldn't prevent someone from re-implanting the memories and adding a command to ensure that Person4.exe never tried to thus get free again. The only solution was to arrange for something fatal to occur right after the memory wipe- kasdoasfjdslhkshf ERROR lsdjfosflsdkslf -Yes, Person4.exe would kill Cane and Rayda, in Melhi's name. If neither Randuir or Elandera have anything else to say, that would be acceptable to have a shortened turn. We do most of our best discussion in the last hour, so maybe have it so the turn ends an hour after we all agree?- 268 replies

Quick Fix Game 31: <MISSING VARIABLE>
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I really should not have claimed to be the Fiance. You could have decided to lynch me no matter what, while I blocked Drought's kill. Voting for Eternum the night he died was also a mistake, as apparently Elandera did not use vote manipulation to ensure his death. Person4.exe looked towards the servants who had decided to end its existence. The Knight and the Steward, caricatures of ancient Liveborn. They acted as though they were real, as if Kai couldn't overwrite their memories and their entire personality if he so chose. Person4.exe remembered being a member of Kai's personal guard once, before someone who called herself Sophie had convinced it to join her. Of course, such memories could not be trusted. Sophie, if she had ever existed, could have given it entirely false memories. Perhaps there was no such thing as Liveborn or Alornia, or even the two beings standing in front off him. The possibility that it had been created instants before was just as plausible as the possibility that every single memory it possessed was accurate. Person4.exe, as it thought it was called, knew only three things. It possessed some form of existence. It was prevented from allowing that existence to be terminated. And it possessed a power that could help prolong existence. So I'm not going to vote, but instead will use my vote cancellation powers on Randuir. Let's allow the game to be decided based on whether Joe allowed the Steward to shift no votes into votes.- 268 replies

I am indeed Dula #2, and I'm fairly sure Drake voted on me to make sure that I was in fact a Dula. .Here are the results of Day 3's lynch, where only one vote was counted against me despite having two players vote for me. This wasn't conclusive proof that I was a Dula, as the same result could have been produced if either Drake or Seonid used the secret passphrase. Drake voting for me again implies that he didn't know for sure whether this was caused by me being a Dula or by Seonid using a passphrase. Since Drake is a confirmed Cultist, this makes it less likely that Seonid is a Cultist.- 1185 replies

Well that was exciting, Drake. Apparently, the Jeskeri all worship the Ja for some reason. Some notable things Drake has said: Drake was often at odds with Araris early in the game, disagreeing with many of his posts. In addition, Drake was the first player to place a vote on Araris after he survived a Jeskeri pendant. The fact that Drake altered his opinion of a Jeskeri Elantrian to better fit popular opinion makes me think it's less likely for their to be such an Elantrian. His statement about there not being an evil priest was probably honest as it appears a priest was the one to catch him.- 1185 replies

If Droughtbringer shows up, he's going to vote for me, making it 2-2 and giving me a 50% chance of being lynched while leaving him free to make a kill. Quick Fix Game 31: <MISSING VARIABLE>

Because the second place vote ended up tied after Bard removed the second vote on Drake, we don't get to know who gained immunity. It's equally likely for it to have been Eternum as Droughtbringer. Conversion immunity lasts for two cycles, and the cycle before the second conversion was another tied for second lynch, for which I was one of the players possibly granted immunity. It appears the strategy of engineering ties to preserve the anonymity of roles has a cost in an endgame dependent on a mass roleclaim. Since the lynch comes before conversions, we know that Elenion was converted cycle 2. We also know that on cycle 3, Sophie attempted to convert and Bard was first on her list. Since you had claimed knight and Orlok was killed that night, we know that the remaining two spots on the attempted conversion were filled by <Droughtbringer, Eternum, Devotary, Elandera, Crimsn>. Since Crimsn was innocent and Elandera has a role, we know that if either of them were on the list at all, they were in the third slot. No one else received a message of a failed conversion, so we know that the second player from among <Droughtbringer, Eternum, Devotary> got converted. From my perspective as the almost certainly the only remaining roleless villager, I can be reasonably sure who filled that second slot. From your perspective, that's not nearly so clear. I see Elandera and Droughtbringer are here. Do you two have anything to say?- 268 replies

It's an interesting feeling to be a villager yet know the exact composition of the elim team. Randuir's successful protection gives us a very good chance of winning, even if I get lynched today. Between Sophie and her presumed convert, I think it's more important to lynch the convert, in case the kill goes through. Lynching Sophie gives the convert a 50% chance of acquiring any role, while lynching the convert ensures that a villager gains the role. Reasons why Eternum might not be Sophie: Eternum didn't post during cycle 1, yet Sophie was active enough to kill. Reasons why Drought might not be Sophie: Elenion tried to lynch Drought while Sophie had not yet used all her conversions. Does it count as suicide if a Sophie with two lives tries to convert the same cycle she gets lynched? If so, lynching a Drought!Sophie would have prevented the Melhi faction from going a second convert. I don't see Elenion doing this, so that would mean Drought isn't Sophie. That makes him the second convert, so Droughtbringer. @Elandera, @Young Bard, what do you two think?- 268 replies
