Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There's only two Sadeas left. They've been claimed as TUN and Xino. If anyone else wants to claim Sadeas and challenge either of those two claims, now is the time to do so. Meanwhile, there are four Aladars left. Wiz and I have claimed two of them, the others are unclaimed. Less worth claiming this, but it could still be useful. Two Slayers have already won, making victory for us Attackers impossible. The best we can hope for was a tie, and without a personal victory, a tie isn't good enough. Even if I fail, I can still hope for Merani to rescue me, to take whatever spheres we can get and run. She always knew who she was marrying, and even almost a year later I believe she'll make the same decision. -

Here should be the claim table. C1 C2 C3 C4 Player Target S/F Player Target S/F Player Target S/F Player Target S/F Kas Whysper X Kas Chantara X Kas Elk X TUN Silho O Wiz Book X Wiz Book X Chantara Elk O Wiz Mist X Book Wiz X JNV X X TUN Whysper O Dannex Cinn O Whysper Devo X Silho JNV X Devo Silho X Devo Xino X Silho X X Devo Book X Silho X X JNV Wiz X Whysper Devo X Book Dannex X Devo TUN X Bookwyrm JNV X Wiz Nerdy X TUN Kas X Nerdy Kas X Nerdy Kas X Turtle O TUN X X JNV TUN X Cinnamon not posting C2 or C3 makes C1 immunity more likely. TUN killing two people uncontested makes him a probable villager. Neither elim made any claims. That doesn't mean none of them did but does indicate that claiming is an imposition to them. -

They wasted a mark by killing Turtle, who would have died anyway when Chantara won. This is why it's critically important for the TDs to find the partners of dead duelists as quickly as possible. I attacked Silhouette because he was the only one who claimed attacks without being targeted himself. I'll probably make a different decision this cycle, but won't be around to see it. Of Sadeas we have TUN who's probably village from claiming the Whysper kill. Not so sure about Xino, nobody gets immunity in a tie so Elkanah would have needed to vote for Xino in order to protect him and breaking a tie seven minutes before rollover is noticable if either dies. Better kill someone soon Kas. Cinnamon hasn't posted since C1. Aarakocra's just voted Xino a bunch of times, which indicates Sadeas probably more than TD. -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Why? There's no reason not to know who killed Turtle. I notice my brother's fiancée and her family in the audience, no doubt watching me to ensure I don't skip out on my debt. My family has refused to repay the dowry this entire time, blaming my brother's death on Merani's corruptive influences. I've tried to explain that she didn't coerce me to do anything, but my family isn't interested in listening, not least because they wanted to keep the money. Now, Merani's family who've always blamed me for the engagement's failure are here to reclaim the wealth they hadn't been prepared to spend. So long as I win, that won't be a problem. If I lose, they might resort to drastic measures. -

I'm guessing it was someone who hasn't posted for a while/ever, like Dannex or Misting. And it's still early enough that attacking a duelist is unlikely to kill them. -

So what are your options here? I'm not going to stab myself, and I'm willing to consider you and Wiz village for now. That leaves an only choice as someone who hasn't played in a year, or shooting blindly into a mix of unclaimed, which also has a lot of new and returning players. -

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
They can mark every cycle so it makes little difference to them whether they kill one person each C2 and 3 or two people C3. It's one more potential attack C2 in the latter case but that's worth it if there are fewer attacks overall. Since they now win if everyone dies, minimum is four cycles if they kill exactly two pair. If they kill unpaired it would be up to eight. I think it means whoever did it wasn't around this cycle, since there's little reason for a villager not to claim. I think the TDs will be very careful about not visibly supporting each other in immunity votes. One cycle of being unkillable isn't worth 12, now 11 attacks being more likely to hit. -

Because they claimed teams? No, they still need at least three more kills. If they still have immunity they have a better chance, or if very few people submit kills in even cycles. -

Who do you think is most likely to be lying? I'm thinking the people who claimed after the first few, but before we'd filled in the table enough that a claim seemed unlikely. -

Aladar Sadeas Unknown Unknown 2 Kas Xino Misting Whysper Devo TUN Bookwyrm Wiz? Silho Dannex Turtle Cinnamon Chantara Elkanah? Aarakocra? JNV Here are claims. Elkanah for RP (Sadeas should take off Plate, anyone who doesn't is on 'our' team), Aarakocra for voting Xino after he'd claimed Sadeas. I feel the desire to have your opponent dead so they can't steal the win from you outweighs the extra danger having a dead opponent puts you in. Devotary (2): Kas, Wiz Elkanah (1): Chantara Xino (1): Aarakocra Kas (1): Turtle Silho (1): Bookwyrm Somewhat more likely Aladar Chantara, Bookwyrm's vote came before Silho claimed Sadeas. Claiming might not be 'strategically sound', but it's worth testing and the TDs need all the help they can get. -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
They don't, they just have to guess randomly. All they know is that two people on the same team can't be paired. I'm not sure how the random guessing part would be taken out. If duelists knew who their partners were, it would be too easy to clear people. The TDs would either need to counterclaim a pair and reveal that one of three players are elims or claim each other as opponents, which would fall apart if either died. The TDs could have a scan or something but that's less fun than being able to figure it out from behavior. Maybe TDs start knowing everyone's team and duelists are informed if they attack their partner? -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
They need to find pairs and quickly because if a killed duelist slays a TD, then the TDs kill was wasted. Killing duelist pairs ensures that every TD death kills two duelists instead of one. -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We could all kill the person being protected but then the game would never end. There's not really a lot you can do to make your faction win. There's no PMs, so there's no way to signal that you think someone is a TD without the other team knowing. The best we can do is win for ourselves, which counts towards the 3 training dummies killed a faction needs to be the winner. It's helpful for the TDs to know who's in what faction, since they'll want to alternate marking Aladar and Sadeas hoping to find pairs. It's possible that claiming could help us find TDs but I'm not sure how we'd figure out who's lying out of say 7 claimed Aladars. Since this is a break tank, I say it'll be fun to see if mass-claiming breaks the game. -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
If they outnumber both other factions combined they auto-win anyway, so sure, but that won't be a concern this game. The TDs are so incredibly disadvantaged that I'd be surprised if they managed to kill everyone. If they do manage it they deserve the win. In a game with more equitable numbers, they shouldn't win if they all die. -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So 6/6/4 is basically impossible for the training dummies to win but we'll see I guess. Six cycles is the bare minimum for them to win. Their best chance is to lose three players today while killing one of the duelists who wouldn't have already died, making it 3/2/1, then kill the pair of the C1 victim 2/2/1, then survive at least four more cycles in a string of miracles to win without reaching 1/1, which is an auto-loss. Trying to keep all their players alive merely ramps up the difficulty, increasing the number all duelists they have to kill from six to a maximum of nine while increasing the odds of wasted kills where the partner of a killed duelist kills a training dummy, rendering the initial kill pointless. At the very least, they should be able to win even if they all die at the same time all duelists die @Matrim's Dice. That can be removed in a game with fairer numbers, but in this game gives them a chance to win C4 at 2/1/1 and any time at 1/1. We're already doing much better than last year's loss to Sadeas' Slayers in the first round. We've made it all the way to the finals, and this time we're going to win. Half the team wants revenge on the Slayers for killing my brother, and I haven't tried too hard to discourage that notion. If they feel the need for vengeance, best to direct those feelings to an outside source. Plus, it's great motivation for winning the competition. 1/6th of the prize money will go a long way towards fixing our financial problems after my brother's engagement "fell through". Wait, why are their four too many people in the arena? Are the Slayers trying to cheat again? -

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
5-5-5 should be fine so long as the TDs lose if they all die even if all duelists are also dead. It's just very swingy, with the TDs needing to kill one pair to win which could mean 2 dead duelists in two cycles or up to six, which takes six cycles minimum and requires them to survive 45 attacks with no casualties. -
Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There's some solving. TDs have to figure out which players are most likely to be attacked and then guess randomly who the partner of dead duelists are since it's much more efficient to kill duelists in pairs. Duelists figure out who the TDs are by seeing who votes where for immunity and then trying to kill people to see what happens. -
The cycle is over! The aftermath will be up in a few hours.

Break Tank 3: Dueling at the Warcamps
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It's balanced by the guaranteed two village kills for every elim death. I think the training dummies lose if everyone dies so if we get 15 players and it's 5/5/5 they need to kill a pair to win, or an entire team + 1 other at worst. If there's 14 players and it's 5/5/4, then if the TDs need to kill 2 pair or an entire team + 2 others at worst. It seems unlikely the training dummies can survive the minimum 6-7 cycles required in those worst cases, so they'll really need to focus on marking opponents, which is difficult and random since no player has any knowledge of pairing information. It's entirely possible that 12 is in fact the only fair player count but let's see if it can handle 14/15. Signing up as Kionara, taking the place of her twin brother who died in a tragic accident shortly after last year's competition. -

Duelists only win if they kill a training dummy, so any duelists still in the game when all dummies are defeated lose. -
