  1. Just upvote ever post I ever made. Even the one that says, "Everyone who upvotes this post will be punched by Odium's giant intangible fist."
  2. So, I decided to make a topic for idle speculation about the Interlude POV characters in book three of the series. Just in case you forgot who the Interlude characters were in the past two books, I'll give you a recap. The Way of Kings - Szeth (Recurring) - Ishikk: Purelaker guy talking with some worldhoppers on the Hunt for the Hoid - Nan Balat: Shallan's brother - Rysn: Thaylen merchant in training - Axies: Aimian who wants to be the very best, like no one ever was, by catching all the spren and becoming a Spren Master. - Baxil: A guy who hangs around with a woman who likes to destroy the likeness of Shalash (though to actually be Shalash). Wants to go to the Nightwatcher. - Geranid: An Ardent who makes a discovery concerning spren. Words of Radiance - Eshonai (Recurring) - Ym: A guy with Radiant powers. (Thought to be a Truthwatcher.) Killed by Nale. - Rysn: Same girl from the last book. - Taln: A madman claiming to be a Herald. - Zahel: Vasher on the lam. - Lift: A girl stealing food with her awesome powers. - Szeth: Still the Assassin in White. - Lhan: A lazy Ardent in Kholinar. - Taravangian: Bad guy pretending to be good guy. Interestingly enough, Szeth and Eshonai both get their books two books after being recurring Interlude characters. Don't expect this to hold, however. That would mean that Dalinar would be the recurring Interlude character in the next book. Anyway, with these guys out of the way, it's time for some speculation on who the Interlude characters will be in Book 3. I'll offer my ideas for potential characters. - Jasnah: Obviously book 3 will have lots of plotlines (Kaladin heading to Hearthstone, Szeth heading to Shinovar, Dalinar and Shallan holding the fort). Having Jasnah as one of the main characters would open a fourth plotline that would quite frankly stretch the book too thin. However, giving her an Interlude to show what she's up to and where she's going would allow us to get back into her head, and give us a glimpse of her before she meets up with the other Radiants. I could honestly see her being the recurring character and having her purposes explained, before she meets up with the others again at the end of the book. Or she could meet with them partway through after having an Interlude to show her travels. - Eshonai: She seemingly died last book, so you know what would be a great way to show her survival? That's right, an Interlude! It would really work for getting us ready for whatever action she takes in book 4. Plus, Szeth had a Interlude in Book 2. - Moash: Would allow the advancement of the Moash and Taravangian plotlines without shifting the focus away from the central plotlines of the book. - Yalb: If he's alive, he could also have an Interlude to show his survival. - Some random Shin person: Well, Szeth is going to Shinovar, so why not? Please post your ideas.
  3. "Don't worry, I've tried this before." -Young Lighteyed officer, 10 seconds pre-death
  4. If this means Jasnah and Szeth working together, I'm all for it.
  5. Yeah, but Shallan is also a prodigy and reads a ton, so I imagine she could manage it.
  6. When Shallan first meets Jasnah, Jasnah quizzes her on which books she's read. Shallan mentions Nohadon as one of the authors she's read the works of, meaning she's read "The Way of Kings". I think it would be possible that she learned the First Ideal from said book.
  7. I had another dream where I was reading a new Stormlight Archive book and in the prologue, it revealed that Lift was at Gavilar's assassination. She was chatting with Nale before Szeth came by, and he gave her his whole dinner.
  8. I'm not sure. See, I looked it up, and it mentions all nine Highprinces being together, but it doesn't mention Sebarial by name. I would think that being among the Highprinces would count as making an appearance, but Brandon may think differently. He could be Ishar though. He has the beard. Also, I have physical copies of the books as well, but you can use Google Books to search through the entire text of books, including The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. Then, when you find references to words, you can go to those words in the text to get full context.
  9. That's a cool idea, but I'm pretty sure Sebarial appeared in The Way of Kings (not by name though) and Brandon said that we didn't see any of the past Radiants in The Way of Kings.
  10. Well, if there's another Herald in the book, it's possible. That guy would have to be Ishar, then.
  11. I was just stuck on Roshar for an extended period of time. It was pretty awesome, except for how they only have a single TV Show. When I was out and about it was amazing to see the sights, but when the Roshars wanted to watch TV (which they did all the time), I had to watch the same episodes over and over again. I got the theme song stuck in my head, so I thought I'd share it with you guys now that I'm home. The moral of the story is, if you like TV head to Scadrial instead of Roshar.
  12. I would assume that Honor's champion is Artmyrn, the bookseller Shallan met in TWOK, and Odium's champion is Barnest, his rival. They will have an epic literary showdown.
  13. I think it was "Intelligence can stop what's coming and compassion can save the world, but he can't have them both at the same time."
  14. Well, somebody theorized on tumblr (Megan, I think) that his boon was the compassion and intelligence need to save the world, but his curse was that he couldn't have them both at the same time. That sounds perfect to me.
  15. According to my brother, who reread Warbreaker recently, Vasher is hinted to already be a worldhopper by the time the book begins. You see, there's a part where he says that he had been away from Hallandren with no way to get back for some time. My brother pointed out that since Vasher is canonically a worldhopper, and Warbreaker doesn't offer any suggestions as to what would make it impossible for Vasher to get back to Hallandren, it might mean that he'd been trapped on another world.
  16. Okay, so I know that you all love your stick, but I'm here with a grave warning. As all of you that have heard of it can probably figure out, my primary fandom is the Warrior Cats one. We had a totally amazing stick character once, one that was owned by a character named Rock. The stick was in a totally canon relationship with a sarcastic blind cat named Jayfeather, and all was well. Then this happened. So what does The Stormlight Archive have in common with Warrior Cats? Well, there's a stick. There's a guy called Rock. And the sarcastic Hoid refers to himself as a blind man. So all I'm saying is, don't take your stick for granted. Something could happen to it. Rock could offend Hoid by calling him an airsick lowlander, causing Hoid to break the stick. If that happens, you want the stick to know how much you loved it, and you want to know that you spent every moment you could with your wonderful, beautiful stick. Beware. The Warrior Cats fandom took our stick for granted, and we've never quite recovered from it.
  17. Those are in Words of Radiance, though. The five Heralds thing is for the first book, The Way of Kings.
  18. A while back, someone said that at a signing, Brandon said there were five Heralds in The Way of Kings. However, Peter showed up and said that Brandon got the number wrong. So we know that there are either more or less than five Heralds in The Way of Kings. Now, here are the Herald listings for that book: Confirmed Heralds 1. Kalak (Appears in the Prelude, thought to be at the assassination party hanging out with Nale.) 2. Jezrien (Appears in the Prelude, thought to be the beggar Szeth meets at the party.) 3. Nale (Szeth notices him talking with Elhokar at the party. In Words of Radiance, Jasnah's description confirms that he is the one Szeth saw.) 4. Shalash (Brandon confirmed that she appears in The Way of Kings. Thought to be Baxil's mistress.) Looks like a Herald 5. Talenel (A guy at the end shows up claiming to be Taln. Brandon refuses to confirm whether this is Taln or not.) So, that makes five Heralds. But we know from Peter that five Heralds don't show up. So what could this mean? Well, it offers a few interesting possibilities: - Ishar is actually the guy hanging out with Nale or the beggar Szeth meets. That puts us at six Heralds. - "Taln" is 100% not Taln. That puts us at four Heralds. - There's at least one other Herald in the book that we haven't caught yet. That puts us at six Heralds. - "Taln" isn't Taln and there are at least two other Heralds in the book we haven't caught yet. That puts us at six Heralds. Whatever the solution to this riddle, I'm sure it will be interesting. We should start looking!
  19. "I face the mechanical man who killed my father. He has claimed my hand, and I am beaten. Now I face his truth. He is my father." -Jed-eyed man, 5 seconds pre-death. Hey, you never said it had to be Stormlight Archive related.
  20. I agree with the OP that there's a specific reason Brandon has for keeping Dalinar and Eshonai away from each other. Why? Well, other than this, there was the scene in The Way of Kings where Dalinar fought Eshonai, but when her faceplate came off, Dalinar was too far away to see what she looked like. Having two scenes written specifically so that Dalinar doesn't see Eshonai sets up a pattern, and patterns mean something.
  21. Okay, so you know how all the prologues in the front five will be a different character's POV on the night of Gavilar's death? Well, I noticed a small but neat thing. The first prologue, with Szeth, is called, "To Kill". The second prologue, with Jasnah, is called, "To Question". So, with this being the start of a pattern, I'm thinking all of the front five prologues will be called "To X", with X being the action they take in the chapter. Of course, the only one that seems obvious for a prologue title is "To Die" for Gavilar. However, I have a few ideas for the other characters there. I don't know how well they'd work, though. Elhokar - To Converse Dalinar - To Regret Eshonai - To Fear Liss - To Watch Aesudan - To Waste Navani - To Learn Sadeas - To Curse I don't know, but it sounds cool.
  22. I want to see if this filter has the Scunthorpe problem. Szeth is the assassin in white.
