Unfortunately, I haven’t learned the little trick that lets you insert WoBs all nice-looking, but here’s one that implies that when you get your Blade (and Plate by association) can vary from order to order (in other words, it’s not always on the 4th Oath). Questioner Do you have to have done the third oath before you can convert your spren into a Blade? Brandon Sanderson In most orders, yes. Questioner What about Shallan then? Did she do it, cause she was a kid when she first-- Brandon Sanderson Yes, um... you will find out more. ——————————————— As for your theory about how Shardplate would function differently on a live Radiant who owns it, I’m betting it wouldn’t suck Stormlight, but rather be powered by some kind of spren, which were later replaced by the gemstone/fabrials currently in the Plate I could be totally wrong about that though. source

Suddenly the air above the island seems to twist in on itself, and a man falls from the knot in reality to the ground. Walking over to @Gancho Libre, he placed a glass of lemonade on the ground near him and muttered, “When I promised to always be where I was needed, this is not what I had in mind.” Then he stepped off the side of the island... and fell through another rift in the fabric of the Alleyverse, possibly never to be seen again.

Here’s a relevant WoB: (sorry I can’t seem to figure out how to insert it all pretty-looking like everyone else) Questioner[PENDING REVIEW] Has stormwater tasted metallic always? Brandon Sanderson[PENDING REVIEW] Yes. Questioner[PENDING REVIEW] Even pre-Shattering? Brandon Sanderson[PENDING REVIEW] Even pre-Shattering it would get a metallic taste, that's the crem. So. That is an indication of Investiture and things. But it was there-- it was in place first, before. source This seems to imply that crem has at least some metal in it, and therefore Inquisitors would be able to see it.

Do we know the begger is hoid? (Bom and SH spoilers)
EddyJ replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Mistborn
Viridian(paraphrased) I asked why Hoid gave the memory coin to Wax, what his motivation was (since it seemed to cast a more positive light on someone Hoid does not like) Brandon Sanderson(paraphrased) Brandon said he did it to correct a lie that was being perpetuated. Viridian(paraphrased) I said that I was still suspicious of Hoid... Brandon Sanderson(paraphrased) ...to which he said I should be, as those two (Hoid and Kelsier) do not get along. He said that the memory uncovered a truth that Kelsier did not want to be known. source So yep, it’s Hoid. If I’m understanding your question correctly. -
What is your favorite RELATIONSHIP in the Cosmere?!
EddyJ replied to TheHeadHancho's topic in Cosmere Discussion
One that always gets me is Tindwyl and Sazed. I don’t know why I like it so much, it just seems real and believable to me. And of course it fuels all of Sazed’s incredibly beautiful character arc in HoA. Aaaaaand now I’m going to go find a corner and cry about it. (Every storming time.) -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
EddyJ replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When your friend is telling a story and says “Me paré con honor” (I stood with honor) referring to a meeting where he was asked to stand, and your first thought is “Wait, but Honor is dead....” -
Here are three, depending on what mood you’re going for: Sarcastic (referring to everyone telling us how much potential we have, also yes, I know it’s not Cosmere, but it’s Sanderson): People can do great things. However, there are some things they just CAN'T do. I, for instance, have not been able to transform myself into a Popsicle, despite years of effort. -Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians Inspiring: ...A man can only stumble for so long before he either falls or stands up straight. (Well of Ascension) Funny: Ah, the outdoors,' Shallan said. 'I visited that mythical place once.’ (Way of Kings)

My guess? If anything super important happens during that year, we’ll find out about it through the tried-and-tested Sanderson flashback.

You would be able to push or pull on distinct parts of the beam. Kelsier pulls a trick like this in The Final Empire with a few metal bars in his final fight with the Inquisitor, pushing on one side and pulling in the other, causing the bars to spin rapidly in the air.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
EddyJ replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted! Your mind is then locked away inside Preservation’s Ruin prison and you spend an eternity with the power to unsplinter Devotion and Dominion but without the liberty to do so. I wish to become a Bendalloy misting so I can hover around Brandon while he’s writing and dramatically decrease time between books. -
You could also just ask Harmony very, very nicely.

This is in the Coppormind with a reference to the relevant chapter in OB: “Glys looks different than regular Truthwatcher spren because Glys has been corrupted through contact with Sja-anat. [5].
-
It’s stated by an in-world scholar that the old Radiants claimed it was impossible to corrupt a bondspren. It’s unclear when Sja-anat actually gained this ability, but she (albeit arguably) refers to Glys as her son while talking to Shallan in Kholinar, implying that she managed to “enlighten” him. Additionally, remember that she was recently able to corrupt an Oathgate spren... it seems to me like her power is somehow growing.

Extremely unlikely theory incoming: Odium is shattered and, to prevent the destruction/damaging of Roshar’s Cognitive Realm (see Sel) one of the main characters Ascends to Odium. Like Mr. T, for instance.

[OB] If Gavilar was alive, who would be the Bondsmith?
EddyJ replied to Ashspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
Good eye. I think the statement about how they didn’t seek to increase their numbers at least implies that they had few (or no) squires, but it doesn’t state it outright. -
[OB] If Gavilar was alive, who would be the Bondsmith?
EddyJ replied to Ashspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
It’s referenced in one of the WoR epigraphs from the in-world Words of Radiance. -
I've been meaning to ask this for a while, but do we know how the Shattered Plains got shattered in the first place? One of my theories is that the Plains were shattered by the Radiants and that was another contributing factor to the Recreance - like, "We've already gone and blown up Ashyn, now we broke Natanatan and if we're not careful we could break Roshar in the same way" kind of idea.
-
Yep! Certain characters are very much “tied” to one Shard more than the others (Secret History has some good examples of this).

I’m with you on this. It’s gotta be Magic.

I might riot if Tom Hiddleston doesn’t play Hoid...

[OB] Revolutionary plot twists of your choice
EddyJ replied to TequilaJack's topic in Stormlight Archive
Odium is the real hero of the Cosmere and has been following the original plan to shatter the Shards and thereby further disperse Adonalsium’s Investiture, which idea the 16 Vessels originally agreed to but have since betrayed because of their mandates/intents. Once Odium has shattered all the other Shards, his plan is to shatter himself a la Javert. -

Just a thought, what are the odds that each Heralds’ insanity is related to the ten fool’s attitude of their respective order?
