Don't forget the Terrismen!

Autonomy's "intent" has always been a bit weird to pin down. What is Autonomy? Isolated from the books, it seems to refer to one's ability to thrive without needing any outside help. The Shard having multiple avatars complicates this, though, because it seems at a glance to be a contradiction. I've come to the conclusion, though I may be wrong, that Autonomy is trying to create multiple communities of independent people/species/ecosystems that are self-sustaining, and wants to watch those communities progress without any outside interference, hence the Taldaini travel ban mentioned by Khriss in the Taldain essay. The Sand Masters are a good example of one of those communities - isolated, strong, independent. At least, they thought they were. Additionally, the manifestation of Sand Mastery being many ribbons bonded to one master follows this "autonomous communities" idea.

Pure speculation, but it could possibly also be modified to feign death rather than cause it. It could be very useful to fake one's own death at times in the Cosmere.

Aaric ran off to the local Dark Alley document and artifact repository to check on that file Mac had mentioned. Let's see... he said he was looking for 'the case file on Winter devotion when the essence spike was inserted.' I wonder if that would be filed under "winter," "devotion (attribute)," "Devotion (Shard)," "essence spike," or "miscellaneous." He had forgotten just how extensive the repository was.
-
Aaric walked to the wall of the laboratory, summoned his Shardblade, and plunged it between two bricks, severing the copper wires and shorting the circuit for the fire alarm. "Yeah, that was getting storming annoying," he said, ears still ringing.
-
Aaric stroked his chin thoughtfully. "This application of Hemalurgy could change everything. Do you suppose will we need to spike an Azish man to make the Essence Spike?"
-
I might be going on Friday, and if I do I would definitely visit the signing, but I have no recording equipment to speak of.
-
"Wait!" Aaric jogged up to the couple and handed them a white tree branch. "This is my gift to you two. It's from either Yolen or Gondor, and it's a symbol of peace and happiness. May you enjoy your time together." He bowed profusely and exited the dance floor.
-
Aaric and the squadron of Lifeless finally finished putting up the chairs (in arrangement B with the surrounding crowds as sub arrangement F, and the officiator's rostrum set in the micro-arrangement R') and turned around just in time to see everyone where they'd started: Rhazien was looking at Yzabet. Only this time, everything was ready for their wedding.
-
"Absolutely! Can I use a squadron or so of the Lifeless to help me try out a few different arrangements? I've been looking around the HQ records to get ideas of what we've done in the past, and I have a couple of things I'd like to try."
-
Aaric walked out of a nearby alley. “Hey, Mac, Lopen, I heard we got called in for an Order 77? What can I do to help?”
-
Turning a corner, Aaric saw Rhazien and Yzabet presumably having a tender moment. He turned right back around (they clearly needed a minute alone) and was headed down the corridor he had came from to wait until something more interesting than a Dakhor monk caught his attention.
-
That was sudden, Aaric thought. He ducked around a corner to take some time to plan out his strategy. Unfortunately, he ran right into a monk who started, then began glowing. Storms, why does so much Investiture make people light up like broams? he wondered as he reached out with his right hand, Verdant Aether extending to grab the monk, Tern coalescing into a Shardblade in his left. That was one of the disadvantages of the Aether (along with its unpredictability) - it was attached to his sword arm and he was still working on left-handed wielding. When the first tendril of Aether touched the monk's skin, it dissolved. Unexpected, but Aaric quickly switched his blade to his right hand and swung at the monk, catching his left leg on the downswing. The monk collapsed on his now useless leg letting Aaric finish him off. He continued quickly down the corridor, the eyes of the monk still smoking behind him.
-
Aaric runs out to stand by Mac and tries to grab one of the runaways with his Verdant Aether to reason with him. He succeeded in grabbing a nearby tree instead. "Storms," he said, "I'm never going to get used to this thing, am I?"
-
Gaining control of his newly spiked body, Aaric rises from the table. "Thanks, Mac," he says (after reading the disclaimer, of course). "I should be able to teach the others the Metallic Arts now, I think... it might take me a while to get used to Allomancy though."
-
"I'll join," Aaric said. "Rhazien poses a threat to the Alleyverse at large and needs to be stopped. What are you asking me to do?"
-
Aaric appeared on Sel with a similar Aon Tia card in his hand. "What's going on? Why was I summoned here?"
-
@Llarimar I’m not completely sure, but I think you may be confusing Rial and Rlain. If I remember correctly Rial from Bridge 13 isn’t a parshman, while Rlain from Bridge 4 is. Edit: @Llarimar No worries! It happens to everyone haha.
-
Aaric stumbled back to his feet as the blow of emotional Allomancy wore off just in time to see Rhazien disappear with the monks in a flash of light. Storms, he thought. I'm not ready to fight this kind of power yet. Looking around, he saw the wasteland that had formerly been the Alleyvillage being consumed by the beavers and meerkats. It's time to go, he decided. He saluted Lopen with the Honorblade. "I'm going to need this to get out of here, but I'll give it back when next we meet!" Then, sucking in Stormlight, he channelled all his will into a dramatic, cape-swishing exit via Transportation to the Cognitive Realm. It didn't work. Huh, he thought, looking at the Honorblade. Why didn't that - The Surge finally kicked in, dragging him to Shadesmar and away from the remains of the Alleyvillage.
