  1. First, before I forget, on the WTCC, while he has several children, I HIGHLY doubt that Straff has ever had a "romantic" relationship. With that out of the way, I wanted to say that when you were discussing the annotation I realized that whatever allows Returned to have kids, it must have been happening with Siri and Susebron (otherwise, what would be the point of it all), meaning that it has to be something that works evenif the participants don't know about it. Maybe it is just a specific type of food or something. If it were some sort of fish or other sea-based ingredient, it would make sense that Vo could have had it by accident on a boat.
  2. Yeah, I finished my SA reread over a month early, mostly because of extra reading time on Shabbat and the holidays.
  3. In the OB part five Overlady Reads video, a specific bit inspired me to make this as a template for future Cosmere memes (posted with the Overlord's permission). If you use this, please @ me.
  4. In that case, I retract my comment about Khriss fangirling over Vasher (though she would probably be really excited to have him cornered to talk to) and strengthen my comment about him fangirling over her. We must always remember that, despite having the look and temperament of a grizzled old soldier who doesn't care how the weapons work as long as they kill stuff, Vasher is at heart a HUGE nerd who would rather have a discussion of subaxial physics in Klingon than hit people with sticks, no matter what he tries to claim. Him meeting Khriss would be like Albert Einstein meeting Isaac Newton.
  5. The saddest part about this one is that Jasnah would think she is in the upper 50% of knowledgeability (that is SUCH a weird word) in the room on the topic, but she is actually the lowest. Vasher is either the last or one of the last two living members of the foremost scientific body on Awakening in the Cosmere (honestly, Khriss would probably be fangirling so hard over meeting him (he might be fangirling over meeting her, too, honestly)). He also likely knows more about shardblades and other Rosharan magics than most native Rosharans, including the queens. Khriss has a strong personal knowledge about Sand Mastery and a really good generalist knowledge about all of the other systems (likely knowing more about the surges (even those Jasnah uses) than Jasnah herself) and is actually likely the oldest person in the room by a few hundred years (based on current estimates). Marsh, while not a scholar, has access to almost every single aspect of the metallic arts and uses them regularly, plus he is in near constant contact with Harmony. He will know almost nothing about any other magic systems, but he probably knows more about the metallic arts than anyone else in the room, including Khriss, and most other people in the Cosmere. Navani, while not the leading expert on the topic, is very knowledgeable about fabrials, an area that Khriss has had trouble with and Jasnah never really bothered to study, so even she knows more in one area. What would most likely happen is that Jasnah would repeatedly make a suggestion or hypothesis and then one or more of the others would explain to her how it has already been proven or disproven and everyone knows it. It would basically be like what happened with her and Hoid in the WoR epilogue but longer. Also, any room without Hoid can't have ALL of the magic knowledge.
  6. Here we have another with minimal changes: "Fortunate Son" as sung by Moash (circa WoK/WoR), to the tune of the song of the same name by Creedence Clearwater Revival (Miniscule WoR spoilers):
  7. While I agree with what you said about Teft, Lunamor, and Vyre's relationships with Kaladin, I don't think Teft will be promoted above Sig and Skar. Teft does very well in his position as sergeant, but while he is good at directing and mentoring individual soldiers, he has neither the temperament nor the desire for higher level leadership, and I don't think he'd want the job anyway. On the other hand, Sig and Skar are both natural organizers and coordinators, and are better suited to that kind of large scale leadership position.
  8. I always assumed that Ryshadium had developed tiny gemhearts, which is why only they have the bond. They also have stony hooves, which are reminiscent of native Rosharan nail and shell adaptations, so it seemed logical that they would also have gems.
  9. I thought they might have. In Gallant's defense, I'm pretty sure that what was said there doesn't apply to Ryshadium. On the other hand, Dawnshard also really has practically nothing to do with Derethil and the Wandersail.
  10. OK, but like actually, which? @Ghanderflaffle?
  11. Am I expected/allowed to vote in my own competition?
  12. Fleet, prepare to be crushed under my supernaturally resilient and crystalline hooves:
  13. I know it's been a long time, and this has very few changes, but I just finished my OB reread and it struck me. Basically no spoilers:
  14. This is literally the best thing on the internet. (Yes, including the RoW samples (which admittedly I haven't read yet).) Also, @AonEne or anybody else in the memes thread, please make some memes of screenshots of the Overlords face while he comically describes people on Roshar being stupid, because that is some great emoting.
  15. Actually, Jester isn't part demon. Tieflings are basically humans with major phenotypic warping due to their ancestors altering themselves on a genetic level in diabolic rituals. Of course, tiefling traits seem to be somewhat dominant, so the human side of the potential Fjorester would probably be tiefly.
  16. Are we allowed to vote on our own battles? Also, welcome to the Shaed @float. Don't eat the cookies but do visit the Cosmere Musical thread, where I've been meaning to post something new for like 2 years.
