  1. So the game would revolve around everyone analyzing RP. That's a lot of pressure on the elims to write appropriately revealing RP to keep the game fair. At the very least, you'd need to GM to assign weaknesses so people don't pick obscure ones. And maybe you could have people pre write their RP or get the dead involved in helping inactive people have some up. I think you'd be better off having it run as a normal game where everyone writes RP as if they were Epics, then there's an arsonist component where you can prepare people's houses for burning if you guess their weakness. But you need an incentive for the elims to write fair RP. Or you could make it a regular game with a side of clue discovery, where if you use a search action, you recieve some RP with hints to their weakness. Then you can use their weakness to action block them or something.
  2. Oh hey Szeth, I owe you the ability to juggle. *boop* Kel is totally real, by the way. He's Kas' cousin who skateboards on frictionless ramps. Other thoughts!: -Can I get an official nod that PMing the IM directly (instead of using the GM PM) is encouraged if you want to vent about how the GM is running the game? And that the expectation is that those conversations remain reasonably confidential? That was never said anywhere specifically, but I got the sense that it was encouraged if necessary. -If you're a player, it's good to be mindful of how your posts will affect the motivation of others to contribute. Put another way, wallposts can be intimidating. As discussed somewhere else, everyone has a different approach to analysis, and they're all valid - but sometimes your gut read feels less valid when compared to say quantitative analysis, which is easier to write more about. I feel like that feeds the cycle of inactivity. So it's good to emphasize the limitations of your analysis which provide opportunities for others to fill in the gaps. And on the flip side of that, giving even a basic a vibe check is often helpful if you're unsure what to post. Especially if you be specific, such as by quoting one sentence someone posted that you think is villagery. -Regarding emotions, remember that luck plays a big role in this game. Villagers kill the right people for the wrong reasons all the time. And this is a game of trial and error. The order that people kill those in their suspect pool in is often arbitrary and hard to explain. There's only so much reasoning you can do with someone before you have to accept that they're working through what they see as a set of similar options, and the order they chose to do that in is based on murky logic. We all have to commit to testing our theories at some point, so if discussions are going nowhere, it may be time to agree to disagree and wait for rollover to provide more information.
  3. Nothing, what's auditor with you? :P.
  4. I sign up as Skmurph, a polar bear that ate the first man off the helicopter and is staying with the team until he gets hungry again, but no one suspects anything because their travel agent told them that polar bears don't live in Antarctica. Also, I just listened to the fabulous Snapshot audiobook, so I'm very excited there's a Recknoners game to be played. :D.
  5. DANGIT. I was self protecting most of the game but I thought I'd be smart and protect Mat at the end... did I lose the spheres, Tani? If I'm reading this right, Karn didn't actually choose to kill me, RNG just favored us. Which I think is really fitting. :D. The Truthless got good roles, the NK hit a Ghostblood, the boss elim was made my Betrothed- all this before Illwei decided to be a game breaker. I think this game looked less balanced than it was. Normally we can't clear half the players based on their votes within the first two cycles. This was less a case of the elims lost and more a case of the village won. The Deception role was fun, but hard to play. I can write bad analysis, but if someone had really put me on the spot with some direct counter arguments, I think I would have struggled to maintain anything believable. Based on how many mistakes I made interpreting the rules before I was Deceived, the elims might have been better off leaving me as I was. The Windrunner role seemed fine. I liked how the interaction with the Betrothal condition incentivized me to consider not protecting someone every round because the math became potentially two villagers for the price of one elim. It was mostly just the similar pairing of e!Devo-v!Steel in a recent game that made me guess the matchup wouldn't be v/v. Even if it was RNG. Thanks for playing, @JNVand @JungleFiend! I got the sense that the game pace made for a steep learning curve, but I think you both played admirably under the circumstances. I look forward to seeing you around in future games. Thanks for running this, Devo and Tani. Sorry we speed ran a rulesset that looks like it took a while to create.
  6. Update: we received confirmation that a role was switched, presumably Jungle's. And I missed Karn's last post. I only saw the one where they voted Danex, which was a brilliant move on their part since I was inclined to suspect whoever self pressed. I'm expecting to drop dead at any moment based on the Will, so if I do and the elim team is taken out with me but the game doesn't end, remember to differentiate between Helpful People and confirmed Villagers. I trust all the role claims so far, but not all have been definitively proven, so keep your options open. One of Illwei or Dannex is probably a Jailor King. What'll prolong the game is a rouge Ghostblood, but they won't control the exe and there's no NKs unless the Truthless roll it, so you're probably going to be fine so long as you go down the list in order of least confirmed village to Mat.
  7. I haven't been told of Jungle's role changing, but it's possible the GM hasn't gotten around to it yet. @Tani Also, Karn, why'd you self pres. I'm extremely confused by that. Dannex, if you do have a kill role, I'm self targeting (assuming Karn doesn't kill me before the end of the round). Feel free to shoot me or Jungle.
  8. If no one's game, @KarnatheonI think my personal preference is that I die so we get Jungle's flip. Totally not because McDaggers has a fear of parenthood. What'd you think, @JungleFiend?
  9. You right, it'd make more sense to do it with Newei. Worst that happens is we end up at 2v:1e and win with a Dannexe, unless a Ghostblood stays alive somehow. Hm. Do we know if there's any left? Mat scanned me as village C1.
  10. I really thought Dannex was the Messanger. If the elim is nice enough to shoot me specifically, I think there's a way we can cause five deaths this cycle. We exe JNV. Elim NKs me. As a Windrunner, I shoot them back, and as a Betrothed, I also take JungleFiend down with me. Karn kills TJ. Anyone feel like setting a record?
  11. Two problems with that. 1. XP had the killshot on TUA that e!them had zero reason to make. 2. We've got enough protection roles that the elims need to make unorthodox kill choices to try and avoid hitting people who might be covered. I'm not willing to exe based on the NK choice. I'm waffling between reads enough to believe that's an intentional blunder designed to distance from e!Szeth. It's the nakedness of that vote that pings me. Karnatheon There's a small chance you're a Ghostblood who has committed to helping the village. Just want to keep the option open for later. But you're definitely not evil, which means I don't recommend exing you at any point.
  12. XD. Just so everyone is clear, I don't know Jungle IRL. I merely have a PM with them and will die if they die, and vice versa. My actual girl would throw things at me if I didn't clarify that :pensive:
  13. Thanks, it happened very suddenly The title of our PM and wording of the rules imply there's only one Betrothed couple. So you know know one else has private messages now. The complication this raises is that if we are v/v, the elims may be able to take down a third of the village in one shot. Or if I'd been exed and another person NKed, half the village would die in one cycle. Is that a risk GM Tani is willing to take, trusting we have some decent kill protection on our side and the advantage of a two man voting bloc for self preservation? Or did they pair me with a Ghostblood, whose would cause less of a swing? I'd pegged the odds at 50/50. (Yes I know they ostensibly RNGed it.) I'd considered the possibility that they'd paired me with an elim as well, but if Jungle is evil, they can't kill me without killing themselves, so we should exhaust all other reasonable possibilities before checking them. Ghostbloods aside, it's basically a guaranteed tie, depending how the GM rules OOA. I know that's not really a clear, so our announcement is basically bait. Either we survive and will use our votes to try and kill the last elim, or we'll die and save the village a mix. Given the strength of our position, I'm fine with either outcome. Edit: *or possibly boy. We're not above challenging your monopoly on homosexual relationships. :P. I should really ask what they go by
  14. Good work, gang. As some of you guessed, I was Deceived last round. As such, I have some retractions to issue: -While I think the elims starting with a bad sphere would be a great troll move to make the village think they’d blocked a kill, given Illwei’s hand in TUA’s death, I believe XP blocking the shot is what more likely occurred. -I really hope nobody actually sent Bad Spheres my way. That plan was designed to waste village resources and make the elims reconsider killing me because then they’d inherit the spheres. Bad for everyone. -I think JungleFiend is a Ghostblood. I commend their responsibility, but I’m far from marking them as village. -TJ is definitely not an elim. The role swap claim was issued too confidently, and I trust everyone with a C1 vote on TUA, even if theirs was the least trustworthy of the group. -I am not Truthless. I believe Mat and TJ’s claims to be. -Discussing elim Deception strategy is moot now, but they appeared to prefer using it offensively instead of covering themselves in case of a flip. -Tani allowed Deceived claims and subsequent posting to show you hadn’t been Silenced if it was in the service of mind games. -I did not switch anyone’s roles last Night. Sorry, Striker. That’s a rough situation to be in. (I will say I was side eyeing you though, so I’m lowkey glad to have your flip.) -I never articulated why I am suspicious of Karnatheon. It comes down to for the amount they’re on, they say very little of consequence. They were also the only person on at end of day C1 that I don’t have a village read on. * Again, no Wills? Am I the only one who wrote one? :/. We should be careful to avoid confusing village with not evil, but I want to run through the clears we have so far. And a reminder, there’s only one elim left, so two people can’t be lying together. Villagers: -Mat sent Illwei a scan. -Experience had the kill shot on TUA, so even though their roleclaim hasn’t been confirmed, I’m choosing to believe it. -I was scanned by Mat (thanks!). -TJ helped kill TUA and made a strong Truthless claim. Not Evil: -Illwei has been lights out, leading the charge on two elim flips. TUA also explained how to vote using them as an example. But I don’t think we can guarantee they’re village with knowledge of their role. -JNV is a Ghostblood, per the GM. Possibly Evil: -JungleFiend is a big ol’ question mark. I think they're a Ghostblood, but have little proof of that. -Karnatheon is a serial lurker, but I’m confused by their passive response to the C1 exe if they’re evil. I think they might also be a Ghostblood. Last game I was a neutral in, I leaned heavily into the non-intervention angle, to the point that I never voted. -Dannex has had consistently poor votes. * The elims have gotten caught so far because they were over fascinated with their own roles. TUA asked about my Assassin strikethrough, and Szeth played with the Deceived rules. I think the GM would be smart to give a new/old-and-returning player the Very Important Elim Kill role so they aren’t randomly exed D1. We should also keep the possibility that the elims are willing to bus to protect their power role in the back of our minds. As for the reason Striker was killed, they were an early vote on Szeth, what more do you need? No one has been Silenced yet, right?
  15. I gotchu. Although my big fear this game is I'll get a kill role and accidentally murder someone I mean to protect. So, hopefully you don't die but I can't promise anything. That doesn't mess up my sphere acquisition plan, right? That's priority number one. Karn, you should be able to guess why I'm voting for you... I'm a little sus that you haven't clarified things yet. But I'll leave that up to you, I guess. Late vote movements don't help anyone. Mat, did you send Illwei a scan of me? They should be able to confirm I'm Truthless then (or does it show up as the role I had that round?), which points to the possibility of TJ lying because three is a lot. Also, this is me not being Silenced, JNV. :P.
  16. Tani can't be the one who is deceived, that's obviously me. Weren't you listening to JNV? :P. I'm just going to abuse the Szeth loophole if y'all insist on saying I'm being deceivey. Based on how long they've been lurking, I'd say Karnatheon is either working on a very long post, or they've been Silenced. Might want to look there instead.
  17. TJ Karnatheon
  18. No, she hasn't said anything at all... DID YOU UNO REVERSE CARD THE GM??? Can't let RNG ruin your day if you don't submit two targets. The spheres are pluralized, so there's more than one. I'm choosing to believe there hundreds, maybe thousands. With some further prep work in a future game, that could be a fabulous investment to feed my doc gambling addiction. Hot take: Mat is also Truthless. That makes three un-dentured servants in play. What'd ya roll yesterday?
  19. I used it on myself so it doesn't matter. ;D. Village. Although its the one I'd claim if I was a Ghostblood Lightweaver looking for cred. Hence the counter claim. Also, we're all cool with the Everyone Target Archer Plan, right? I genuinely want those spheres.
  20. I probably should have expected that. I am also a Truthless, so this is fun. Or you're lying :3. I wrote an essay instead of doing a re-read, so more thoughts to come when I have time. I wouldn't trust the Deceived. I'm fairly confident the elims will use it so their own flips will be misleading. It's a better defensive tool than offensive one. @Tani yes that was a vote. TJ is such a small name I worry it gets lost even when bolded.
  21. The GM doesn't tell you if your action succeeded or failed... I really hope you're a Decieved Truthless because then you can argue they cancel each other out and allow you to be perfectly honest :D. Let me get this straight. This guy votes in C1 to let us know what they're thinking even if they aren't entirely confident about it. And then despite being busy today they make time to let us know they haven't been Silenced? lock village I can't get over the fact that Illwei said "TJ would have voted for me if they were evil" and then two minutes later, TJ voted for them. XD. I'm not above taking low hanging fruit from the elim tree. (Highlighted for **emphasis**)
  22. It feels more likely that the GM was trolly than that you correctly guessed who they were going to target. for my shinies collection. ;3 (It's been a while since we've had an item game, and I'm running low on things to doc gamble with.)
  23. XD. Best writeup. Although there was a concerning lack of a Will. :(. Good work, team! I think the GM gave the elims a bad sphere to start with. Which is great because we now know it's in village hands. If no one objects, I'd like to claim it. All I need is for anyone who might reasonably been NKed to target me with their actions tonight. If someone else does want it, we can work out a pass back and forth agreement and whoever has it at the end will get to keep it.
  24. We only plan on trolling you as much as you've trolled us with the distro. Not at all, right! I stuck the TUA thing out as bait to see what would happen and TJ just edited a quoted response to me into his post. Could be just them not wanting to double post. Or could be a HEY look at us trying to start a CW over here!! Please help me save e!Illwei my teammate. Or e!TJ trying not to die. Stop ninjaing me, I'm trying to think. :P.
  25. It was the part where you said "Have no aversion to killing TUA" that made me think you'd want to kill TUA. I know you went for the other person you said that about, but I'd struck them out for meta reasons because I'm allowed to be a sentimental fool as a villager I forget if a 'sword vote' is a technical term, but it looked to me like they threw a kill-shot third vote on a wagon with no explanation, so I am sus about it. If it's supposed to be like a stab vote, they didn't finesse it enough to be meaningful. blatant attempt to attract my vote for a CW, huh. Joke's on you, that might just work. Unknown! :P.
