  1. @StrikerEZ if the people who voted for you are a variety of alignments, will the vote for sure be added? Or if someone of the opposite alignment is rolled first, might it not be added. Interestingly, SE rarely has roles that simply add one vote. Normally they remove a vote or visibly move a vote. But Striker has claimed that the Zombie role can add a vote once per game, which would allow them to fake the results of Lynchbait. Can you receive PMs? By the way, I'm questioning the strategy of PMing the neutral and Trolling people who agent submitting the NK. I'm assuming it's similar to a roleblock. I feel like there's better ways to use our resources.
  2. Interesting. Can you vote? Can you submit the elim kill - theoretically? What was the role you were talking about in your post at EOD? Maybe the thread is being Trolled!
  3. >. >. The site and tallybot both hate me I wish I had voted for Striker because their final post reeked of an elim trying to unflip themselves. A villager says exactly what their role was to give us info, they don't hint at it. Alternatively - Jester? Elandera's post coupled with the choice not to strikethrough their name makes me think Striker's impact on the game isn't over. AHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHH
  4. -On the subject of surprising early claims, it's convenient that TUN's story changed to back Aman's up despite the apparent personal risk involved with claiming. It's possible that Aman knew their high profile style would make them likely to be scanned, and so they came up with the neutral claim to deter it. But the PM request reads a lot like they're trying TK help the village for whatever reason, and the role (if not the alignment) is too audacious to be less than mostly true. So I don't want to vote for them. -I still don't like how much Wiz wanted us to know their role. I wonder if they're trying to feed off our desperation for PMs to make us reluctant to exe them. -Good vibes from Ashbringer -Sidenote: Congratulations to Bip and Striker for getting married so soon after the engagement! -The way to read Xino is apparently e!they don't post much and 15 seems above that threshold. -Spent too much time watching hockey. Wiz I don't know whk to vote for uh
  5. In soccer, you get a penalty kick when the other team receives a penalty, right? What if the Referree can gift a penalty kick (which could be a kill or something) to someone somehow related to the victim of the card (the other alignment? The other country? The person receiving the card themselves?). Then gifting two cards kills the person as advertised. Devo's right about the SK thing so I need to rethink that.
  6. I agree that doting Jester isn't standard practice. You'd have more success fully claiming and getting sympathy votes or not saying anything so no one worries about the implications of voting you possibly being bad. Jesters can sometimes make others lose if they win, and you don't want to give people the chance to consider that. It appears that many people have references to Trolling in their role description. So I imagine multiple elims do as well. So e!Araris would know that using the word Trolling would reveal his role eventually. I think he didn't and was just being clever. I'm against poke votes that are advertised as such and are dropped easily. The conditional action style takes the cake because it automatically gets removed regardless of my response so why would I feel pressure from it? Aman's role makes sense to me because it's a claim deterrent. Other features of this game are also constructed around reducing the knowledge the village has (blackout, limited PMs - although I'm working on making as many as I can!), so this kind of role fits. I think it's meant to discourage claims, conveniently saving the village from themselves in the early stages of the game by giving power roles cover as well. If Steel (or anyone) can scan dead people, I'd like to run with the theory that Wiz is an elim on a team with no Word Cuppers because it leads to some easy clears. Aman will have to go in that scenario, but that's fine Technically, there's zero reason that anyone who can should confirm your role. Especially if they're villagers. My vote is on Wiz, see my last post @Kasimir
  7. The simple math here is that 6+ neutrals would break a game through collective action. Siding with the elims for example gives them something like a 13v:12ne ratio. It'd be weird not to have an elim World Cupper, but if there isn't one, I can see e!Wiz getting to this assumption. Wiz TJ The nature of this thread is that your opinion will be lost among the pages unless you add weight to it with a vote. The VC is a summary of people's top suspects that has more visibility. I encourage you to vote for Aman if you're leaning that way.
  8. I generally agree with you (see previous comments of mine), but Randby offered a good opportunity to confirm Aman's story. They didn't seem caught up on the thread, so they probably weren't aware of the implications of claiming a World Cup role. Worst case was that n!Aman skewers them for it, but I trust n!Aman to self-moderate in that kind of situation. We didn't get that, but we did get good reason to believe in v!Randby, since elims usually prefer to hoard their secrets.
  9. That makes things clearer, my apologies for misunderstanding. Ideally we'd have discussed this in our PM, but I'm too swamped to reply to yours right now. I didn't really care about Walin specifically though, I just wanted to see if you had a game solving based reason for any of your behaviour. Nonsense, it's a team sport, so you can only be bad if your team is bad. And our team is excellent. The whole soccer theme helps build that comradery. Which position did you get?
  10. That post is such a flowery way of saying you were attempting a reaction test. So why Walin specifically? Sailor who doesn't realize he just ran over the pier be like ^ I can tell by this post and your pfp that you're a fan of light refraction and it's various uses. What I don't know is how you feel about Aman's neutral claim. Do you believe he's being honest about his role and intentions?
  11. Big Goalkeeper energy Thanks for offering to do some analysis. Would you mind starting with your thoughts on this post?:
  12. It's weird how no one followed up on Wiz's claim, but they kept offering more details as if they had been asked. I think we've covered this in previous games, but I really dislike how easily you drop your poke votes. Feels like a gamble to name 5+ roles and expect us to never realize they're absent from the game. I'll reiterate my recommendation against mass claiming because we presumably have some power roles that would benefit from cover. I feel the same way. My inbox is so full I still haven't gotten around to making that Tani PM. Actually, would you mind repeating why you're voting Walin? I had clocked them as a candidate to vote for, so its worth discussing.
  13. pokemons in battle be like ^ See I thought this was a joke, but if it wasn't a joke, why even bother with the vote if you've publicly said you'll automatically retract it? Why not do it? Budget Bugs Bunny be like ^ That would require knowing we're at parity, which assumes we've failed to hit any elims by the final round. Seems like the best path to victory is to hope that either Archer or Croc are elims and wait for them to dun goof. Get a room, you two. Or actually, I'll make one for us once I get around to doing the PMs. And TJ Shade Xino why'd you drop the teamed/not-teamed chart now? If people know you're making it based on early game events, they'll start intentionally trying to confuse your data. That's the kind of chart you should have constructed over a week or so, then revealed. and now this is a faction conversation game
  14. Wiz? You're talking to Mat and not me?? After I sent you such a lovely PM.... :(. ngl that looks a lot like a hacked account
  15. ok but my initial plan for this game was to pretend to be a Jester role that wanted to die C1 but I couldn't figure out to profit from it. Besides maybe living longer but who wants to do that in a game like this That's not a cursed cat. Looks like a cursed gopher That! That is a cursed cat! You win all the points So you're the flash player. I thought you were discontinued?
  16. I've been dreading this. In a good way! First of all, I intend to send every one of you a PM. I'll get to that when I have the time. Secondly, my brilliant theory about this game is that there's an alignment scanner mechanism. My guess would be the reason for the backchannel blackout is to avoid scanned trust circles taking over the game. Thirdly, since us knowing the distro would probably be to our benefit, you should claim if you're about to be mixed. I'm operating under the assumption that a mass claim scenario risks exposing some valuable assets, but if we're going to lose you anyway, you might as well give us clues about the overall distro. Hey, hey new guy. Since you're new, I bet you didn't know you've spelled your username wrong. It should be Xineoph512 I've got a burner account I plan on using if it comes to it (hopefully the mods don't remember to change the anon account passwords)
  17. In as Archer, a player that's hellbent on PM spidering.
  18. I think the fundamental issue is that you have a discussion of who to kill in thread and a similar discussion in the IC doc of who to kill. The redundancy pushes you exclusively towards the thread. It's a better use of your brainpower to push for the exe of people you suspect and convince fellow voters through public dialogue to join you. Repeating the discussion in the doc has enough risk associated with it that it's untenable. So I think a rerun should give the IC a different mandate that encourages discussions that aren't primarily about who to exe. Maybe something like they name pairs and if the pair is e/v, the villager is advantaged in some way. Ignoring the risk of that easily outing elims, at least that discussion only narrows down who you suspect to two people instead of one, so there's room to discuss suspicions in a less directly identifiable way. You might even push including Mat in the pair as the villager when really you think he's the elim. By the way, it's worth noting that this game incentivized very specific kill choices, which reduced the elims' ability to gun for an alternative objective through their NKing, such as thread control or conf villager murdering. In a rerun, that might have been more disastrous for them, so I respect treating it as a difficult wincon. Good game, everyone, but especially Devo for their IC personna. Also, Aman, you gave me an adrenaline rush when I saw I got voted on. :D.
  19. I'll start by saying I'm not married to this idea, but I do think it's a valuable vehicle to drive a discussion about SE player demographics with. For example, some players privilege types of information that are much more straightforward. Counterintuitively, more blood seems to be bled from the stone of vote analysis than gut reads, but in practice, both are used to justify very quick and stable votes. Xino's playstyle is a good example of this, and his success rate indicates it has enough merit he shouldn't be shunned for it. If you lump people who make quick, stable decisions in with those who go inactive due to disinterest, I think the number of people with low activity due to game design is larger than is acknowledged. This frustrates people who thrive on getting more information through discussion. Regardless of your impression of this as a better playstyle (the stats would probably agree with you), enough players don't play like this that it frustrates those who do. They're shouting into the void, essentially. The expectation is that people will play differently in an LG, but I don't think the added time gets used efficiently. If you're going into it with the mindset that Nights downtime is built into the format for resting and refreshing, great. But if you expect people's output to increase proportionally to the extended length of cycles, it can be infuriating. I think we need to clarify what the expectation of activity is - eg. is a silent Night broadly acceptable? I haven't been operating under that assumption, which might be the problem here. I considered this, but it's always the suboptimal decision to shorten the rounds as a villager. In theory, you're supposed to use the extra time to reconsider a million times. Why risk quickening the game when it lessens your time to have a game changing epiphany? Or reduces the information you might get from longer discussions. These rarely happen, but smart players should choose to maximize their in game resources, even if it's at the expense of their non tangibles, like enthusiasm. On paper, the right choice is always to ask for more time. Which brings me to the diminishing returns of added time. People's reads solidify as the game goes on, and their Night actions become more predictable. The elims have a better idea of who they need to kill, and the villagers with roles have a narrower list of suspects and have had more time to plan their strategy overall. I don't believe players need as much time between exes if the game becomes predictable. Side note: This is mostly about games where some elims have flipped, leading to clear suspects and clear village clears. Hence why my suggestion triggers after an elim death. Games where the elims all survive have a much different dynamic. In elim dominated games, pressure builds as they dive towards parity. In village dominated games, pressure releases with every elim flip as the village win probability skyrockets. If it's 10v:1e, no one's on the edge of their seat, but the structure of the game doesn't allow them to hit fast forward on their votes to find the deepwolf. I agree that this wouldn't work for games with complex actions and fluid situations and that aligning the NK with the exe rollover is a big disadvantage. I also acknowledge that due to timezones, an elim could get screwed by a 12 hour rollover during their nighttime. So Nights need to be 24 hours to be accommodating. How do you feel about 24/24, but voting that occurs during the Night carries over into the Day? That'd probably be better framed as an MR with an action dump in the middle of the cycle. Either way, it introduces actual pressure during Nights to drive discussion. It doesn't make sense to me that you're given the same amount of time to find an elim among 20 players as you are an elim among say four suspects with much more information. In the back half of a game, I don't need breaks as frequently, and believe that maintaining them at the same intervals leads to disengagement.
  20. The challenge becomes that signing up for an LG is a hard commitment to gauge. The length you'll be alive ranges from 2 to 25 days. I think that contributes to inactivity problems among players with less stamina/lower expectations of game length. The difference between two and three days between opportunities to vote is small once you've gotten into the mid-game groove of testing theories. It's still a disadvantage, but you're buoyed in this scenario by the elim flip that precedes it, so it balances out. I believe interest is a greater determinant of player engagement than time. In mid/late games, Nights are utilized enough to justify the player retention cost of a 50% longer game. If you're a player with analytical endurance, the question is would you rather have more time to think or more to think upon from a livelier thread? Oh yeah, sorry for being very wrong about you. And TUN. And JNV. And anyone else I've forgotten :P.
  21. That was a marathon! I really appreciate you making yourself available for so many rollovers, Ashbringer. That's a big commitment. Shoutout to Devo as well for being a good IM, as always. Araris, I'd thought you'd peaked with your PM choices, but you really carried the village in the endgame as well. Good job. And well done everyone else, it was a fun game! I liked the transferability of roles. In future LGs, I think Nights should be done away with after the first elim flip to expedite the pace. Anyone want to take the over on the AG lasting longer than this one?
  22. Ping me if you don't get the player count you need, but for now I think I'll pass. I learned from the LG that I'm incapable of not staying up for rollovers because I like instant gratification Specifically the issue is you can't edit a Google Doc in incognito mode on mobile, so you might be stuck doing it all on desktop.
  23. @Ashbringer what are two roleblockers told when they target each other? Double fail or double success? Insanity has to be the culprit. It's Aman otherwise. If it is Aman in a two elim world, protecting Araris needs to be top priority, Tani, because the extra kill can make it 1v:2e not 2v:1e eventually. We can safely lose anyone else.
