what do I read after the Stormlight Archives?
MistbornAlpaca replied to qhizzle's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Wait, what? Do you happen to have the link so I can grab that? I've already read it, but I would love a digital copy as well. -

Jasnah. I felt like some of the questions didn't have an answer for me. Maybe that's just me though. -
Clean Fantasy Suggestions
MistbornAlpaca replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Brandon Mull, done years ago with Fablehaven (I might read the new series sometime), the first Ranger's apprentice was great, but after that it was the same story over and over again, and none of the characters were ever at risk of death or injury despite the dozens of battles there were, the Brotherband books were all great until 5, at which point it started to have the same problem as Ranger's Apprentice (this is all in my opinion) I haven't read Septimus Heap, so I might try that. Another quick question, how are Terry Goodkind's books? I've seen them around, but I haven't actually picked one up and read it yet. This is kind of turning into a book recommendation thread, which is great! I've been thinking of trying a straight-up mystery, any suggestions? -
Wow, just wow. My collection is a drop in the ocean compared to these.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
MistbornAlpaca replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
"Uh, can I get this form on a thin sheet of steel? Ya know, in case some evil entity wants to makes sure I can never sell my house." "Don't worry about the signature, I brought my own chisel" -
I think that's the best guess we have on who the non-human Shard is. Having so many different personas with different genders makes her a prime candidate. If I was a non-human Shard, interacting with humans and other Shards that are human, I would want to make myself look like a human, to fit in. After that point, creating multiple personas would also help cover up what she was trying to do in hiding her true identity.

Clean Fantasy Suggestions
MistbornAlpaca replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Thanks for all the suggestions @CaptainRyan! I'll have to try a couple of these. My definition of clean is probably Warbreaker, if there's any more that you didn't include due to confusion on my definition please feel free to throw them in! -
For a second there I thought that maybe Frost was a Shard, but that last WoB kind of burst my bubble, but that's okay, at least we have confirmation now. I still can't figure out what Hoid's purpose in Shattering Adonalsium was though, although I'm keen on the idea that the Vessels offered him Odium or something and he was smart enough to turn it down. I guess we'll just have to wait and see on all of this...

Apocalypse Guard Officially On-Hold
MistbornAlpaca replied to CaptainRyan's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Brandon must be pretty storming excited to put a book that's in its second draft on hold for something else. I am so Storming excited! -
Quick question. Can I post a question to the Cosmere Q&A that are related to a specific series? i.e, can I post a question that only relates to Mistborn on the Cosmere Q&A? If not, what do you think about putting a separate Q&A for each series on its discussion board?

Official Star Wars Episode VIII Spoiler Topic
MistbornAlpaca replied to Briar King's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Just wanted to clarify on this. Rian Johnson has confirmed it to be singular. Some of the translations were plural, but that was just a mistake. It is singular, and I believe Rian Johnson has also said that at the beginning of the Last Jedi, Luke is the last Jedi. (I could be totally wrong on that last part though, so please correct me) -

As an LDS teenager, I love fantasy and basically any book I can get my hands on, but so many modern fantasy books are full of sex, pornography, and dirty jokes. Are there any recommendations you guys have on CLEAN Fantasy?

Thanks for the quote on the rules, that really helps! @Nashan'Elin that's crazy that you read that fast! Good for you! I can't stand reading for more than an hour at a time, I prefer to digest the info slowly.

1) Good point, whoops 2) Basically, the main form of Investiture is mediclorians, (no clue where they came from or how they were created so don't ask me) this means that surgebinding, allomancy, everything is powered by mediclorians, so you're mediclorian count goes down when you use them, and they have to recharge. Because Anakin had been doing so much before that final fight scene, his mediclorians were low so he was just simmering pewter to keep himself going. Also, he didn't want Obi-Wan to know he had powers beyond the basic allomancy that all jedis have. 3) Like I said in 2), I have no clue where they came from or how they were created, but because of the nature of their replenishing and diminishing, it does not make sense to store things in them like you would metal minds, because all the information or whatever stored in them would dissapear as you used the mediclorians, and you'd have to restore it all after your mediclorians had replenished themselves. 4) Just FYI I'm really surprised that I managed to come up with a semi-convincing argument for this, I didn't expect this thread to last past the first two replies.

I prefer to read a little slower and absorb everything. Also I feel I get more out of it when I take my time. Also having not read the sample chapters, (and not wanting too) it will probably take me longer than everyone who has read those chapters. Thanks for the heads up on the spoilers thing, good to know. Do you happen to know where that thread is at? Just want to double-check so I don't stumble on something I didn't want to know.
