  1. "They aren't here now, they don't get to have a say over whether or not we get to have a say. Sorry." Another of the DA lawyers added. "But it's fair that we at least put it to a vote. All in favour of the DA remaining?" The DA delegation raised their hands. "Motion is passed."
  2. Savantism for physical metals is more damaging than other types of Savantism but I don't think it's disadvantageous enough to actually count for much as a weakness compared to the benefits, that being said this is Archer's decision to make and it's likely ultimately up to how it's RP'd. If every time there's a gunshot or explosion it knocks Jackal out for a minute due to the pain of the sound then yeah that's worth a fair bit. If the downsides are more or less ignored other than occasional discomforts that don't actually make them any less effective then it should probably be counted as a bonus. The point is also kind of moot because the poll is showing that people are on average ok with the OP version and I think most people who are going to vote have voted.
  3. It also violates conservation of Investiture, which Brandon has established is a legitimate physical law in the cosmere. But yeah, technically someone without the need for Stormlight is more powerful than Voidus, that's literally infinite power, albeit limited to certain things. EDIT: I've also made my preferences on Time Travel clear and when we took a vote last time I think that was also the general consensus of players. Time travel gets way too complicated way too quickly. We can take another vote if needed though.
  4. Ok sure. The Mists aren't a Shard, they just primed Vin to Ascend to one. Also, you're the one who started with divine assistance, not me.
  5. But not before Vin throws her through the moon and into the sun. Technically this would be just prior to Vins Ascension, not after. So not technically a god. The case could also be made that Shards aren't actually gods.
  6. The woman - Indy, gave her an awkward, mechanical smile as she spoke. But it was what she'd said rather than how that had confused Megan. She knew someone like me? Allison? But she had to ask if that was my sister. She stared blankly as she tried to figure this woman out. She hadn't run when Megan had told her she was an Epic. Indy might have been an Epic name, it would certainly explain the lack of fear. Though it didn't explain the lack of bloodlust. Or did she mean my situation? Crying on the street like an idiot. I'm sure she's seen plenty of people like that. It took her a moment to notice the hand that was outstretched and holding a cloak, and a moment longer to realize what it meant. She gave it a suspicious look but it seemed unlikely that someone would walk up to her and act nice even when she revealed that she was an Epic, just to give her a coat that exploded or something. She quietly accepted it, beginning to pull it on. "Well you're too nice to be another Epic. And you're still standing here so you can't be a vanil- er.. a maple." Megan stammered. "So I guess that leaves an angel or some kind of grief-and-cold-induced hallucination?" She pocketed her handkerchief and began rubbing her hands together. Sparking cold.
  7. Voidus nodded, taking a quick look at what remained of the ball bearing. "Very normal. A little better actually, for a first attempt." He commented as he inspected the small pits that covered the surface of the ball. "Feeding physical matter to the Void is very inefficient, even I couldn't do this on that large of a scale. But practicing should give you a better feel for Voidmaking, and it's the fastest way we have to increase your ability. Once you've mastered this we can move to Investitures and other magic." It would take time, though Mac seemed to be picking up things quickly. But Voidmaking had certain other restrictions. "Now, once again. Concentrate. Focus all the willpower you can and try to get rid of it." Hopefully Mac would be strong enough to survive.
  8. Then Vin gets the mists and definitely instantly decimates anything in LoTR.
  9. TLR and Inquisitors were also considered impossible to kill with mortal weapons. Actually they were considered impossible to kill at all. Then Vin killed a bunch. Unless it is literally impossible to cut a Balrog's head off (It isn't) then Vin can do it. Because Atium is an insane cheat.
  10. And it took the power of a god, surprise, intricate knowledge of his powers and a complete lack of defensiveness on his side to kill TLR. But again, mentioning something that has subdued Ungoliant only places an upper limit on her power, not lower limit. Morgoth and seven Balrogs could also subdue a bunny rabbit. So bunny rabbit=Ungoliant? Vin spends 3 books killing things that rely on size and power. She literally fought an entire army of beings like that, for the most part single handedly.
  11. Voidus nodded, calm had taken him once more as he waited for Mac to proceed. "It can, and yes it is of Odium. But Hatred isn't the key, just the easiest way for most people to access it. Some things you need to get rid of not because you hate them but because you need to protect, or out of shame, regret, even love. Sometimes for something you love, oblivion can be the best option." He stopped, picking the ball bearing up again and silently regarding it. "But those kinds of feelings aren't usually as easy to manifest, this is simply the first step. Emotions help to generate the required strength of will, you just need to channel the parts of it that you need and don't let the rest of your anger affect you. It's not unlike embracing Saidin in a way, but instead of eliminating your feelings entirely you burn away all the parts but what you need in that moment. Use it to fuel your motivation but don't let it distract you. Eventually you'll be able to avoid the emotional requirements entirely, but it takes a firm mental discipline to have free access to that kind of willpower." He placed the ball back on the table and took another step back. "Now, unless you can find some way to consider annihilating this ball to be an act of love then we'll keep going with anger." He said. "So, let's try again."
  12. Say what you will about Ungoliant but no one ever claimed she was the fleetest of foot, TLR still wins in a 'who reacts first' contest. So the fiery weapons of death are definitely non magical and definitely have no light whatsoever? Then good news they're also completely ineffective as weapons. And the thing that defeated something just means that the thing they defeated was at least weaker than they were, it doesn't set a lower limit only an upper one. So all you can establish is that a Balrog as a threat is somewhere between literally not a threat to anything and less threatening than a Maiar. Vin accidentally murdered some people when she was holding Preservation and she spun the world around too quickly so technically it took a Shard in order to kill those people. Does that mean they can only be killed by a Shard?
  13. Voidus watched with a hint of surprise as Mac began to scowl at the ball bearing. No questions, no hesitation, he'd just started staring at the ball until eventually he'd started frowning, then scowling. He might have a talent for this. Eventually Mac seemed to reach an appropriate state of mind and spoke. "I think I hate it. I certainly need that out of the room." "Good." Voidus smiled for a moment, taking the ball bearing back and putting it in a pocket. Then his expression firmed again and he took a calming breath, trying to keep his mind still even with what he knew was about to happen. Perhaps this was why he hadn't been checking up on Mac before now, he'd known that he'd have to face this eventually. Even knowing that it was nearby caused him pain. "Drop it." He said, speaking into a nearby intercom. A moment later a small hatch opened in the ceiling and a small object fell down, bouncing a little as it hit the surface of the table and rolling around towards Voidus. Instantly his face twisted into a mask of seething hatred, he clenched his jaw until his teeth began to creak. "Next." He growled. "You get rid of it." A small patch of pure darkness flashed across the room, colliding with the pineapple on the desk before promptly vanishing, along with the pineapple. And the desk. And a portion of the floor. Overdid it again. Stupid, disgusting things. If I ever finds who started importing these here then I will erase them and everyone they've ever met from existence. He took a sharp intake of breath before remembering that he needed to relax. It took another minute before he calmed enough to look at Mac. "Now you might have felt something when you first snapped, a sort of empty feeling? You might want to use that like Stormlight, take it out and throw it at things like a Radiant. That's a sure and easy way to kill yourself. You don't take that out, you put other things into it. Once you hate it enough you need to focus on it, hard as it may be you need to force yourself to think about it. Think about it rolling into that emptiness until it turns into more emptiness. Until it joins the Void and there's nothing left to hate anymore." He took the ball bearing out and placed it gently on the table again. "Just don't overdo it, if you get too carried away you'll end up throwing pieces of yourself away as well." Voidmaking was a dangerous art to learn, to even acquire it at all you needed to be closer to death than an Allomancer and more broken than a Radiant. And things only got harder from there.
  14. Voidus arrived at the lab, the air around him still dark and he clenched his teeth in frustration. Every time I get distracted for just a moment... His eyes darted around, seeming to focus on things that lay outside the room rather than the objects within. The darkness around him seemed to ripple in response to his gaze, silently shifting to match the focus of his vision. "This is going to need to be a little rushed." Voidus said, finally letting his eyes focus on Mac. "We're a little pushed for time. So, first lesson!" He placed a small ball bearing on one of the lab benches, ensuring that it didn't roll off. "You need to hate this ball bearing. Hate it until it hurts you to be around it, hate it until you can't stand for this to exist in the same universe as you." He looked back at Mac with an expression that would brook no refusals. "Questions?"
  15. If that's the rule you want to go by then sure. TLR still murders her 5000 times before she even notices he's there. Chromium. Balrog is now unable to fight (Because apparently light = Investiture) stabby stabby stabby, balrog is now dead.
  16. "Because everything that exists resides within time, and I have the ultimate power over time! All shall tremble before the wrath of my -It's now 4 o'clock- the wrath of my power!" -Metronome "Because someone needs to keep the clocks working and it seems to make him happy" -Everyone else
  17. Why did she do this? Why run? Megan had wondered this before, but then she'd always rationalized it, Allison hadn't run there must have been some Epic who was keeping her hostage, or threatening her or something. Once Megan caught up again the two of them could fight off Allison's kidnappers and return home together. But she chose to leave. She left me back then, in the Dalles. She never meant to come back, never wanted me to come after her. "So... um... uh... are you cold?" A nervous voice asked. She looked up, blinking through tears once again and saw the woman who'd been talking to her on the rooftop. Before she'd jumped down from it anyway, most people would have taken the hint and left at that point. Don't mess with Epics was the rule that almost all Vanillas and Maples learned early on if they intended to survive. After a moment of silent staring she finally realized what the woman had asked, she also realized that she wasn't cold. She was freezing. Her hands were even paler than usual, and completely numb. Her neck and chest were stinging from direct contact with the air. Megan gave a small, sullen nod to the woman, muscles jerking awkwardly, but there was something that was more interesting than getting warm at the moment. "Are you alright?" She asked "In the head I mean. Or did you just not realize what I am?" Not that she could blame her, she probably didn't exactly look like a normal Epic right now, shivering and crying. She could feel her nose beginning to run as well. She pulled a handkerchief out from a pocket, wiping her nose with that as she rubbed her eyes with her forearm to try to clear the tears again, though not being too successful. "I'm MV. An Epic." She said pointedly, waiting for the woman to freeze and run away. Or attack her, though few people who were still alive thought that attacking an Epic head on was a good idea.
  18. Darn, I was hoping I could get that approved before anyone who also follows the Reckokners RP noticed it.
  19. New E3 character @Archer
  20. Mack slid across the cold floor, curled into a ball and sobbing. In all the scenarios that Voidus had considered this had not been high on the list of probable responses. "Please don't hurt me. I didn't even fight against the DA." Standing nearby and confused, the voice finally triggered a memory and Voidus thought back to an even that happened nearly 18 years ago now. "Ah. Sorry, forgot about that." Voidus looked somewhat awkwardly away as he spoke. "So... nice weather we're having here right?"
