  1. On my phone at work atm but I definitely agree. Gangs would be an awesome addition and provide more opportunities for permanent Salem Epics who aren't part of the official government.
  2. Yeah there'd be a relatively good amount of them in Salem for organizing arena fights and disseminating information.
  3. Yeah this has gotten way out of hand and off topic, Oudeis if you have some problem with me personally just mention it in a PM. I do my best to provide posts that I believe are accurate and helpful, if you want to actually refute a point or request clarification on it, by all means do so. But please don't derail a thread with some personal tirade, feel free to contact another mod or admin if you feel the issue needs moderation, but let's handle personal issues elsewhere and let the thread actually stay on topic. Yeah I think something weird is going on with Sel, it might stem from the unique situation of the Dor being unguided but it seems like it could be something more too, especially with the Dhakor since they don't seem to have as many locality issues. I do like Nashan's original theory though, I hope we can get some more WoB on them but that's probably not likely til we get the sequel. I look forward to your week long post too
  4. Yeah basically because before Harmony's Ascension there were a few years of Noble wars, battles, Ruin murdering everything and general calamity culling out a lot of Allomancer blood. Also Vin murdering a bunch of Mistings and Mistborn. So basically there weren't many Mistborn left afterwards to pass on strong enough genes (Maybe none except Spook, can't quite remember if it was mentioned)
  5. Note to everyone who calls IT: If an operator tells you at the start of your call to quickly try restarting, do not lie and say you've done it if you haven't because if an hour and a half later after exhausting every other option they then need to remotely restart it for you to be sure and suddenly everything works, they will burn with a seething hatred and judge you for all eternity.
  6. The greatest files of Voidus somehow are devoid of photocopying Epics.
  7. Lyla becomes a nearly perfect Assumer And assumes the abilities of both Shiny and Scribbler before murdering them, a teleporting Scribbler with bonus Assuming abilities is not an Epic I would want to face.
  8. That would be pretty horrible, though luckily if needed I can write Scribbler out of pretty much anything given how broad her powerset is. But ultimately Scribblers story probably ends in tragedy anyway, either she dies with the rest of the Dalles or she corrupts majorly and goes on a killing spree.
  9. I love the Lyla posts, she's fast on her way to becoming one of my favourite characters.
  10. Not light I hope, since Soulcasting holds conservation of mass. That could have some negative side effects.
  11. But nothings stopping us from including his cousin Breakbacker instead.
  12. Ah, then we might be responsible for something here. On the plus side one of those cookies probably gave you the ability to balance a spoon on your nose, so it's not all bad if you don't mind loosing your chance at salvation and an eternal soul.
  13. There are a fair number of useless powers according to WoB so I'm not sure if that pans out.
  14. Please don't tell me what I am or am not interested in, I am uniquely suited to knowing what I am interested in and you are attempting to divine the motives of someone half a world away based on a few short messages. No, every post you've complained that I'm not citing, you haven't requested anything specific in a single post as far as I can see, other than the first post you made which I promptly responded to with a reference. Other than that, the closest you came was when you said I was trying to get you to agree with what I was saying by misquoting you, which I noticed and subsequently apologized for and did indeed cite where the confusion arose. Also, please stop passive aggressively using the term literally, it's both insulting and demonstrably inaccurate. Yes they can, but they're different from actual modifiers, you can use one in an equation sure but it still needs to be a functioning Aon. Because the people who built Elantris obviously did know? And because given that it took a Sharder approximately a day to realize what it was I doubt that centuries of inhabitants failed to recognize the similarity even if they didn't know the significance? And Ela is a base Aon, you wouldn't need to add multiple chasm lines to an Ela but you would at least need to add it to the base Aon Aon in the middle still. So I suppose yes you do go on since you didn't provide a single valid objection. And it takes no time at all to just insult people rather than actually contributing to a topic. And no I'm not utterly convinced of much of anything, let alone that I'm universally accurate. I have one of my first theories listed in my sig that was confirmed to not be true reminding me of that fact with every post. I'm just convinced that the evidence supports my current position since you've provided neither alternatives nor faults with my reasoning. You haven't 'proven' anything, you've insulted me, said I keep not providing citations despite the fact that I have and have spent more time complaining about me personally than you have the actual issue at hand. How can you have proven me wrong multiple times but also not have the time to prove me wrong again? I've only raised one point that you've addressed. I'va always accepted that, that's why I don't do that. I'm a student of science and its methodologies, test, reference and objectively measure before you come to any conclusions and always be open to change them when new data comes in. No, I'm not shifting the burden to anyone, I have not asked you to prove a single thing, have provided citations when requested and am intimately familiar with logical fallacies. (A few you might want to look up: Straw man, Ad Hominem, red herring). Incidentally you haven't proven me wrong once except that you didn't type something I thought you typed, let alone time and again. Again, I've only made one statement for you to disprove even if you were successful. Yes, I agree that's a weak tactic, good thing no one here is employing it. Well, other than all those times you did about my beliefs, motivations and aspirations but they're ultimately subjective anyway so we can let those slide.
  15. Again, if you think any aren't obvious just ask for a reference for one in particular. Just saying there are no references in general isn't very helpful if I don't know where the disconnect is between what I think is obvious and what you do. A separate Aon is not the same thing as a modifier, it's separate entirely. And it's doubtful that that Aon does anything other than provide ELAntris with its name since no chasm line was added to it and Elantrians still function perfectly. SO no I don't think it proves wrong anything. Again if there's one part you don't remember being supported by books just ask, I'm perfectly happy to cite whatever people need cited I just need to know what it is that they need cited. Passive aggressive insult not appreciated. As for "how many time in this conversation you've been proven so utterly wrong" To my knowledge that would be none, I mixed up two people once but I'd barely call that being wrong let alone 'utterly' wrong. I'm welcome to opposition as always though if you think you can prove I am. This isn't about me or you or who 'wins' here, I'm just interested in a sincere discussion about the magic. We don't need to resort to attacking each other or insulting one anothers memory, sarcastically or sincerely in order to have that discussion.
  16. A couple of points to get through so I'll break this up a bit. Again, depends on the magic. Balefire? Works just as well on a main round, and indeed on the entire tank. A couple of seconds, plenty enough for dodging projectiles. Particularly combined with a Mistborns other abilities, which will pretty easily accelerate you to over 60kph. Depends on the push, Duralumin and Steel? Easy. Regular steel? Probably still yes, but you might need to judge your timing carefully. Again, there's not really many comparisons for a Mistborn, they're a very small, very fast moving target that makes irregular motions and has incredible agility. No helicopter on earth matches a Mistborn for agility. I did already point out that machine guns are pretty much the worst weapon you could employ against a Mistborn but I'll do so again just to be safe. They're inaccurate, made of metal, vulnerable to sabotage and pretty obvious. Put as many machine guns on as you want that's not going to be any more effective than the one that already fails the job because it's employing metal against an Allomancer. Depends on the explosive, what you're targeting and how experienced you are. Given what Mistborn are I'm inclined to say that any situation in which one found themselves facing a tank they would be experienced enough to handle it. Replace them by getting your head blown off? I'd be a bit more than irritated if I was minus my head. Range /= accuracy. I could launch a piece of metal several kilometers if I wanted, it wouldn't be very accurate though. Accuracy is about how many of your bullets hit the place you want them to hit, machine guns deliberately don't bother with accuracy by instead shooting out about 1000x more bullets. Generally a really good strategy, just doesn't work well against a Mistborn. If you were a regular person? Sure. Mistborns are anything but regular. Bendalloy alone renders pretty much all guns useless, combine it with steel and atium and you could put a Mistborn up against an entire army and I'd give even odds on them living through it unless you resort to just bombing the whole place and hoping you catch them in it. (Which still wouldn't be guaranteed, Bendalloy + Steel + Duralumin is an absolutely insane combination for speed of movement)
  17. 1. Only tell people my zombie apocalypse survival plan on a need to know basis.
  18. More a side story I think. I'd say so, although preferably not in the same thread unless you planned on making it a plot point and cleared it with the other player. After all there are only so many names they can choose. I've had trouble with coming up with new names for my list so I have a few duplicates in there, and in real life Epics wouldn't cross-reference their chosen name with every other Epic.
  19. And Aluminium mistings to eat Shardblades and destroy them
  20. It's been a while but I think I know what you're referring to. But then again my brain gets mixed up since I tend to binge watch things in rapid succession so I might be thinking of like Timeport or something.
  21. I really want to participate here but I have a few years headstart on this topic and if I did I think I'd need a few dozen pages for all of my posts. I shall stick to getting some amusement from other peoples for now then.
  22. We haven't seen the majority of surges so that's kind of hard to judge. As for the usefulness of mistings, Seers aren't useful? Soothers and Rioters are arguably more useful than any other Misting in a war, being able to control morale at will is a powerful ability to have, even aside from its ability to control Hemalurgic creations. But even if all you used were Coinshots and Thugs, there's still way more of them than there are Radiants. TFE has a population in the millions, by mist snapping standards that's in the tens of thousands of thugs and coinshots. If we ignore the Nobles altogether even though they're the main source of Allomancers and just focus on the skaa with no Mist involvement there's still a comparable number to the Radiants even at their peak.
  23. Technically the Heralds would win since as far as we know their immortality doesn't have limits and his does. Although technically they do die they just come back so I suppose you could also say TLR wins. They definitely wouldn't win in an actual fight though.
  24. Well that's more to do with endurance than strength, but yes it is generally harder to wield something than carry it. I'd put it at around 4-5x the strength of an average Rosharan minimum, which would be roughly comparable with what you get from flaring pewter if you take gravity into account. So I'd say its probably stronger than pewter but not by much. You mentioned the balance too which is actually something else I would bring up, carrying something unbalanced like that means weight is unevenly distributed, which means one of the workers was likely doing more than the other was.
