  1. "It would be improper of us to take your beds from you. Despite wishing to put up a front of strength commanders who do not sleep are useless to those that they command. Exhaustion will catch up with them. Requisitioned beds will be fine." "You both need rest Fox." Worry oozes from Circe's eyes. "I can only guess what happened to him, but I know this. You will both burn yourselves out if you continue on without rest. You ground him. He will listen to you."
  2. I nod without really paying much attention to what I am doing. "That might be wise. A few hours of rest will serve me well I think. Fox will also require sleeping quarters." Circestran frowns. "You are fortunate that those are likely not poisonous. You should be careful. The world is dangerous enough without taking unneeded risks. Nath can only do so much you know. Eating leaves that could endanger your health is not something that he can stop you from doing. I think that rest would serve you well."
  3. I was making sure that their answers were right. What is the worst thing to say when someone says "This is the way"?
  4. Agreed. So long as Sanderson is popular this site will continue to exist.
  5. I cannot focus my eyes on Herate. It is taking much of my strength to remain seated and not to fall over. "It may be that you have managed to remain hidden, but one must not take a chance. If your enemies come you must be ready for them. An army is defeated by lack of preparation. If the traps are unnecessary then you are most fortunate indeed. I apologize for my suggestion of a contest of first blood. A point had to be made." Circestran appears beside Fox. "He can be reckless at times. The fire within him never dulls and he is every bit as mighty as he appears. Sometimes though he takes risks. He needs you to ground him as much as you need him."
  6. Well one could take the easy way and join the shard. However, more seriously (Although only slightly) find common ground and let time take its course. Making lasting friends is a long process. In the end dividends will be paid out. It is really about time, patience, and finding strong common ground.
  7. I return my attention to Daolan. "The first step is to make this camp more difficult to assault. The enemy may come. If they do you will want to make things difficult for them. If you have not already set traps at intervals surrounding this camp. Select your best fighters and relieve them of their duties. I shall begin their training as soon as possible."
  8. Maybe. I'll have to ask . It was high enough. Though I am fine so...
  9. *Dramatic drum roll.* The answer is indeed three. I have not been to anything close to 25 states. My older sister whom I do love dearly did let very little Nath crawl off a bed while she was supposed to be babysitting me. As a kid of about 6 or 7 I did in fact walk into table. I got a black and blue mark under my eye in the shape of a Nike Swoosh. My sister and her friends teased me about it until it went away.
  10. I allow my fatigue to flow with ease. I lack the strength to suppress it. A hardness glows within my eyes even as the rest of my body is assaulted by an exhaustion and twinges of pain which buries it. "There is much to do. The best course I think is to begin planning and implementing a plan as soon as possible. It is difficult to begin to train 150 students at once even if you have the wisest single teacher. While you actively fight your enemy you cannot spare all of your troops. Strategy will be key to..." I trail off. I trail off when I feel my daughter's hand come to rest on my shoulder. I turn to her. "I apologize for having tun off as I did. Perhaps we should get you quarters where you can rest. I will be here a while longer." I let my love be a beacon shining through my fatigue.
  11. I used to enjoy looking for a new quarter.
  12. I used to collect coins. I collect Books and knowledge.
  13. I sit. None of the weariness depart me. It linger like a phantom hovering over its former shell. I turn my attention to Daolan knowing well that my weakness is clear to him. "I had a point to make here general. Your best fighter was defeated by me even though I was weak and injured. Your rebels are not ready they must learn to fight and win. They must be taught tactics and how to defeat stronger opponents. I believe that I can help with that. My friends are less experienced than I general. If they are going to risk their lives it should not be in vain."
  14. I'll wait for a bit to see if there are any more guesses before making my reveal.
  15. I look Daolan not caring at that moment whether weakness showed. If my friends and new family were going to risk their lives then care would be needed. Some strength materializes from nowhere and injects itself into my words. "We shall have to talk. The one whom I fought was made aware of the point of this duel. We shall speak soon of this." I turn my head to Herate and there is a gentleness to my voice. "You should bind your wound. Drop me at the nearest bench or tree stump and see to your injury."
  16. I ignore the disrespect being shown to me. I see Herate emerge as the stamp is removed and I hear her words. They are almost a whisper in this shadow world that closes in on me. "Please." Little more than a dry rasp emerges from my throat. I nod my head in in thanks as I take her arm.
  17. I grimace as all of my strength seems to have vanished. Everything seems like lead. My thoughts are shrouded in fog and I can barely feel the heat of sun or the blowing wind. I look up at my former opponent's eyes and force all emotion and exhaustion to stay hidden. "You are a warrior of no small skill. Had I been younger with less experience and had I been less of a warrior you might have beaten me on my own terms. You also might have learned to fight smarter. You are their great warrior and you threw yourself at me without considering how I might be beaten. Do you think that you are ready for war? I held back. Will your enemy do so? I would help hone you all for war if you would have me." I struggle to my feet. The weakness that reappears is painfully clear to all.
  18. My sister let me crawl off the bed that I was on as a young child while she was babysitting me. I once walked into a table and had a Nike swoosh shaped black and blue mark under my eye. I have been to 25 U.S. states.
  19. I want next. I agree with three.
  20. That is why when I realized my mistake I edited my post.
  21. Why did you not steal food?
  22. It is done. With all of the speed of light gathered within me. I rush forward knives held at the ready. My words echo around her. The blades dull slightly as I reach her and bring the blades across her shoulder drawing blood. I leap back and regain visibility. I stumble and drop to one knee my blades vanishing.
  23. A focused burst of wind rushes at her from the side striking her with forces many times stronger than hammer blows to the ribs.
  24. She fears me. Good. I send the winds swirling about in a dance. It carries my voice to mine enemy. "Have you learned the first lesson of War? You can never trust your foes to fight on your terms." My words encircle her and the last comes out as a growl. A gust shakes the tree that she stands on.
