  1. I was wondering who that was! Glad to have you!
  2. It's fantastic.
  3. Sorry for the double post. I made a server. https://discord.gg/K92DMjwe
  4. I made a Discord channel for the Socially Awkward Bookworms. https://discord.gg/K92DMjwe If you're a member of the Vampire Club as well, let me know when you join.
  5. Never read of watched them, and I probably never will. Although I might watch the movies to make fun of them. Because I do that. (Sorry to anyone who likes them.)
  6. It's not very good. At all. I kind of hate those movies.
  7. It's this online chat thing. It's kind of hard to explain. The 17th Shard has a server, and a lot of the role-plays do as well, which they use as a place to just chat off of the Shard. It's really quite nice, actually. I'll make a server, and if people want to join, they can. But I won't count on it to be active or anything.
  8. Should we start a Discord server? Where we can all just be awkward together in a less formal setting? (I know the Shard isn't that formal, but Discord is even less so.) I'm no expert when it comes to Discord, and have only used it a little in the past, and a bit more in the past few weeks, but I think figuring this out might be a worthy investment of time. If people would join it, that is.
  9. *sigh* Dang it. I imagine goat blood wouldn't taste very good anyways...
  10. The book is better than the musical, but the musical is also one of my favorite musicals, so... Both are awesome. I've realized that over the past few days... I've mentioned it quite a few times, and I've gotten several people to add it to their TBR. Yay! People are putting stock into my opinion of literature! That's a first... Generally they ignore me and my opinions since I talk about books so often... Yesss! I really need to read more. I think I've read The Black Cat, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, another poem I don't remember, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Masque of Red Death, which I read because it inspired a very important scene in The Phantom of the Opera. Noooo! Don't leave! Just because you don't like these books doesn't mean you should leave! I'm sure the subject of the conversation will turn to something else at some point. Might I ask why you don't like gothic horror? (I refer to the genre as gothic horror, and I am not sure what the proper term is...) 1.) That's gross. 2.) Yes, it is due time for a sacrifice whose blood we can drink. (If Goat wants to be sacrificed, that is.)
  11. The ending really sucks. It's just... Really really bad. Spoiler alert, but it ends with the main character(?)'s mother doing. The main character does absolutely nothing to drive the plot. I'm not even sure if she is the main character, even if she is the narrator... But she has no hand in the resolution what so ever. Sooooo good... I've read it twice now, and I seriously love it. I also love The Phantom of the Opera. It's a really great book, but mainly just because it's awesome. Although the ending is much better than that of The Historian... *sigh*
  12. I'm calling you Count Twig now. Also, why don't more people align their writing like this? Or like this? Just typing like this is boring. If you're a really big fan of Dracula, I'd suggest giving it a shot. The language is really flowery, which I personally like, and it gives you a lot of really interesting stuff about Dracula, Vlad the Impaler, and other cool stuff. But the plot (most specifically the ending) sucks. And the formatting in some places drove me up the wall, but that's probably just me. Frankenstein is one of my favorite books ever. It's absolutely fantastic. I love all the moral and philosophical questions it asks, as well as the flowery language used in it, and, of course, all the murder. I'm gonna start typing normally now, I apologize.
  13. Nooooo I really really need to, though. I love gothic horror. I recently read this book called The Historian, and it was about Dracula. It was really cool, but really sucked as a story. I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you love Dracula.
  14. I just had (what I think to be) an awesome idea.

We need shirts that say "Doomslug is my spirit animal" with a picture of Doomslug.

I'm tired, so this might not be as fantastic as I think it is at the moment, but still.

    Anyways, good night!

I'm still a little tired, but less so, and I still think it's a good idea.

  15. Talnic let out a resigned sigh. She wanted to join a prophecy related quest. It wasn't a coincidence. "If you must," he said.
  16. I don't like the new books, sorry. I read both the first Mangus Chase book and the first Trials of Apollo book, and they just could not compare to the original series. I like the second series as well, and I loved the Kane Chronicles when I read them in elementary school, but I was really disappointed by some of his new stuff. I remember The Blood of Olympus was the first book whose release I was both aware of and eagerly anticipating. My school's librarian at the time was fantastic, and checked it out to me as soon as it came out. Those books were what really got me into reading, though. Those and Fablehaven. (My mom didn't let me finish Harry Potter until fifth grade, which is why they aren't really on the list.)
  17. Okay, we did family presents a few minutes ago. Here's a list from both stuff from this morning and then from family stuff. I got two books (books two and three of the Riyria Revelations, which I really need to read now that I have the whole series), an Echo Dot, a nice jacket, some small skateboards I can teach Kaladin to ride on, a new rope bird perch that actually holds its shape when I bend it, the RoW sticker pack, and... best of all... a 2021 calendar called The Secret Life of Squirrels. Oh, and a Doomslug pin. My parents have finally gotten over the "we shouldn't fuel the obsessions" thing, it appears. (Last year I just got a bookmark with a Sanderson quote on it because they didn't want to encourage this "obsession", and this year I got the poster, stickers, and the pin.) Our dog kept attacking the Christmas tree, and it was really cute and funny. Then she fell asleep. And stayed asleep. For a long time. The little weirdo. (She's just a puppy, by the way.) And I know I already mentioned it, but I got a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt! I'm still absolutely ecstatic about this, and I have been wearing it all day. If you think I'm going to be Annabeth for Halloween next year like I was in third grade (with my home-made shirt) then you are correct! I have kept the Yankees hat for this long just for this reason.
  18. This... This is a quality gift. I am very proud of your sister. (I am also laughing really hard right now, so thank you for sharing. ) A lock picking set?! That's really awesome!
  19. I GOT A STORMING CAMP HALF-BLOOD T-SHIRT I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY ABOUT THIS. My third grade self is screaming in nerdy joy. I also got a map of Roshar, but I've been waiting for YEARS to get a Camp Half-Blood shirt, so I'm currently more excited about that. Unfortunately, I didn't get a sword.
  20. I just wrote a REALLY long update about how often parrots are neglected, especially budgies. I deleted it because I don't think it made much sense.

    So...

Guys, parrots are very often neglected. It is sad, and absolutely terrible. Birds don't have a lot of the legal protections that cats and dogs do, but are just as, if not more (depending on the species), intelligent than a cat or a dog. So you can go to the pet store, buy a $20 "parakeet", a $20 cage, some birdseed, maybe a toy made of some hard wood or something, and then have a dead bird with numerous health issues five years later.

Here's some more stuff to help illustrate the issue.

Artist Who Made People Cry With Her Animal Comics Is Back With Another Tearjerker, And It Might Be Her Saddest One Yet | Bored Panda

The comic that accompanies this is really good as well.

You have no idea how hard I cried when I first read that.

Anyways, I really need to go to bed now. I know this is a weird time of year to be talking about something like this, but I think it needs to be shared. No, I know it needs to be shared.

My computer is currently being weird and isn't letting me upload a picture of Kaladin being cute to lighten the mood, but there are plenty of those laying around. Merry Christmas everyone. (And a happy new year)!

Also, if any of you want (or have) a bird and would like more information on proper care (or how to rehome a bird in the best way possible), or if you are just interested, feel free to PM me. I am full of random and useful facts and information, and I know of a lot of good sources to find out more information.

  21. Well, I was messing around with my profile pic, and, short story short, Kaladin Birdblessed is now my profile picture.

I must say, he looks fantastic.
