    Talnic felt a faint human presence. It was close, and yet very faint... It had blended in almost perfectly with the sense of something unknowable shifting within the world... He drew to a halt, the rest of the group continuing on, not noticing at first that he had stopped. Slowly, Talnic set his pack on the ground, in the path cleared through the snow by the group's passing. With a faint rasp, Talnic drew his knife from its sheath and began walking silently through the snow, the soft powder muffling his footsteps. Whoever it was who was watching might be able to see him, but they might have their eyes elsewhere. As the trees drew nearer, Talnic scanned the dark interior of the woods, trying to make out any motion or other sign of life. He saw none.

    Talnic scowled, but the dark expression couldn't have been visible behind his scarf and the hat shadowing his face. "There are dark forces in this world," he said after a moment of contemplation. "And they are not always bound to reason. But... I fear it might have something to do with this quest we are going on." He looked out at the horizon, trying to ignore the longing he felt to race towards that freedom, and instead focused on that feeling of dread that had slowly begun settling over him since the attack the previous day. How had he not noticed it until that moment? "I can feel... Something," Talnic finally said. "Something... Something's shifting."

    Pack over his shoulders, Talnic went back up to Cara and Ara. "We need to be going," he said firmly. "You can talk as we walk. Gather your things. We will be leaving within the next few minutes." Talnic itched to leave. He had wanted to continue towards the mountains since the sun had risen. But the others were not as hasty as he was. They did not know the joy he felt at moving, at heading towards some unknown adventure, free from the restraints of normal life most other felt.

    This is stupid.

    The power is out.

    Kind of. The Alexa works. The lamp does. The microwave and stove do not, and so I cannot warm up my pasta. (I could light something on fire and put the pasta in a pot and the pot in the fire, but I don't want to get in trouble.) 

    But my laptop also doesn't work. (It's old, so it only works when plugged in.) And I don't want to look at 19 notifications from my Kindle because autocorrect is very stupid on this thing, and it's hard to type. And I also can't use Discord from here.

    Anyways.

    I'm kind of hungry.

    I might go watch Studio C or something, though. I do have tFotR downloaded on my Kindle, but the charge has already gone down 10%...

    I think the power might turn on in an hour, but we'll see...

    *sigh*

      That one is funny with only a knowledge of Harry Potter, but it's absolutely hilarious when you have read/watched LotR.

      Yeah, I'll have to read/watch them sometime. I haven't yet because I hear that they're so long. Guess I can't really use that as an excuse now that I've read the all of the books in the Stormlight Archive series :).

      (Watch the extended editions of the movies. While the theatrical editions are still amazing, the extended editions are even better.)

    Watch all the Vlogbrothers' videos, listen to all the various podcasts (mainly Dear Hank and John), and try to decrease world suck by being awesome. Or just do the last thing. That's the big one.

    Maybe.... You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say and and will be used in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can not afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Then you have to ask if they understood. There's a different one for minors, though. Edit- CONNIE YOU SPELLED MEMORIZE WRONG.

    I am very introverted... Being around people drains me like nothing else... School is driving me crazy. When people say hi to me in the hallways, I usually just give a small smile and a soft "hi," but that doesn't work with masks. I try and do it, but they can't see it... And before I can wave or give a louder response, they've already passed. I was really nervous when I went back to school today. I don't know exactly why... I guess I really didn't want to interact with people.
