    Ask Chaos Anything!

What color is the letter E? How do you feel about the How To Train Your Dragon movies? How do you feel about dragons in general? Is it bad that it is 4:00 in the morning and I still am not asleep? Want to see pictures of my bird?
  2. This one is from over a year ago, and I kind of forgot about it. So I made another one. And now people have revived this one, and it's a little weird. *shrug*
  3. Floofy Kaladin picture.
I already shared this on Discord, but... It's very cute and should be seen over and over. :P
(He's sitting on one foot, too...)

He gets called bird more often than Kaladin, but he'll usually fly to me when I say his name.
      :)
I still can't decide if he is my spren or my aviar.

      That's adorable :D

  4. "It couldn't breathe fire," Talnic said quietly, keeping his eyes away from the dragon. He cleaned the dragon's blood from his sword, moving swiftly, and soon had the blade back in its scabbard at his waist. "This isn't the end. We have to keep going." He looked up at the others, and suddenly became aware that his hat was missing. He cursed. He felt so exposed. And it would be weeks before they got to a place where he could purchase another hat.
  5. Everyone needs to read The Body, by Stephen King. It's a short story.

    No, it's not horror.

Yes, it's one of the best short stories I have ever read.

And you need to read it.

It's very relevant to my own personal situation (no, I'm not walking through the woods with some friends trying to find a body; it's relevant in other ways), but it also makes you think, and it's just... It's really good.

You should all go and read it. You can probably just find it online.

I'm now off to go stare at a wall and try to go about the rest of my day.

I saw everyone discussing VE Schwab and I had to join in... A few years ago I read Shades of Magic, City of Ghosts, and Vicious. I actually like Vicious way more than Shades of Magic  (I haven't read Vengeful yet though. It's been on my shelf for over three years... It's the sequel to one of my favorite books, so I've never read it because I'm scared of it not living up to the first one. Someday I'll have the strength to read it.)

Anyways, read more VE Schwab. She's great.

      Spoiler

I feel like I also need to mention that Vicious is kind of really dark. The whole premise is basically a superhero storyline except there's no heroes and it's just two genius villains fighting each other. I love it, but my friend found it disturbing. So I'm hesitant to recommend it because my friend hated it and I may have traumatized him with it... But it's also really good. And there's lots of discussion about morality, and I'm trash for stories revolving around that.

      Tesh

Did you say that there's a really dark book?

That talks a lot about morality?

^this to all of what Flying said

mmmmmm Vicious aslskdjdhdajakkdjshals 100/10 I love it so much

I didn’t mention it because I never usually recommend it to people unless I know they’ll be fine with the darker parts

      but it’s so goooooooood

*forcibly makes self stop talking about book*

I read A Darker Shade of Magic after Vicious, and it was... fine, but I have some problems with it that stopped me from enjoying it fully. My expectations were probably in the wrong place as well...

oh I accidentally went and rambled in a different direction I’m sorry I love talking about Schwab

I had mixed feelings about Vengeful when it first released but over time I’ve warmed up to it. I’d need to properly reread it though to figure out my stance on it now.

Umm... I’m sorry and I hope that was somewhat coherent, I didn’t mean to write much but it sort of happened and now I’m stopping myself

      *slinks back into the shadows*

  6. Talnic jumped at the arrival of the man, but stood back as the others attempted to, apparently, keep him alive. He kept a wary eye on him, trying to judge whether he was faking or not.
  7. Nope. I really want to fly but I also like being able to see. No idea. Ask me three years ago.
  8. This is my old one... I posted it three years ago... The only reason there are any new posts is because Ene revived it a while back for a little while. There's a new one somewhere that I made a few months ago.
  9. Talnic gave a curt nod and, with a swift strike, killed the dragon.
  10. Talnic glared at the man. Why hadn't he said anything about being able to heal before? It seemed like it would have been a good thing for them to know. "I'm assuming that won't stop it from trying to kill us or someone else when it's able."
  11. Talnic nodded. "There's no point in letting it suffer."
  12. Talnic sighed. What hadn't he Xues done that sooner? While the dragon's head was trapped, Talnic ran and fell to his knees, sliding beneath the dragon. He ignored the screaming of his knees as he hit the stone, and thrusted his sword up into the soft underbelly of the dragon. It was a little disconcerting to see the sword through the body of the dragon. The dragon bellowed, and Talnic stabbed it again. It finally broke free of Xues's ice, and whirled to face Talnic, blood like liquid glass dripping from the wound. In the process, it managed to knock Talnic backwards, but he kept a firm grip on his sword. Its face was a mask of pain and fury as it faced him. Talnic pushed himself to his feet again, holding out his sword, the blade dripping with the dragon's strange blood. The dragon took a step forward, but its knee buckled, and it crashed to the ground, letting out a roar that had a strange bell-like quality. The dragon gasped, and spoke. Its words were incoherent, likely spoken in a language long dead. Its head dropped, the words fading into a whisper, until they finally stopped. The dragon continued to breathe, but it took in air with quick gasps, its side rising and falling rapidly. It was an unnerving sight. Talnic approached the dragon, his heart clenching at what he had to do. He didn't want to kill the beast, and yet he also didn't want to suffer. But he had been the one to stab it. And it had tried to kill him. Gritting his teeth, Talnic prepared to make the fatal blow.
  13. "Yes!" Talnic snapped, jumping to the side as the dragon lunged at him again.
  14. I'm half tempted to change my pfp to this.

    Thoughts?

      Goat has a good point....

      Hehe.

  15. Talnic shoves himself to his feet, scrambling after his sword. He dashed to the side before the dragon can hit him again, or bite him. He didn't want to find out how quickly he would die if those teeth pierced him.
  16. Give me ten more years and those numbers will be in the fifties.
  17. It's totally a drug... I've read the first two SA books over ten times, I'm on my seventh read of OB, and I just finished my third round of MB era one... Once you get in... There's very little chance of ever getting out. Especially once you join the Shard. Also, don't accept the cookies, unless the person offering them to you is a member of TUBA. They aren't allowed in the intro threads anymore, though.
  18. Saaame... tWoK was my first Sanderson book, actually. How did you get into Brandon's stuff?
  19. Hello again! This is seriously an amazing community, and everyone here is incredible. Not to mention everyone is also a Sanderfan, which is a huge plus. What's your favorite Cosmere book?
  20. Hello!

I just had an IRL friend join the Shard!

You should say hi to him!

Also, he should post a thread in the Introductions section... *winkwinknudgenudge*

    @Bennett

    Welcome to the Shard!

    We're definitely not a cult!

      Condensation

Hi, Bennett! I've already run into you... but hello! Welcome!

  21. "Yes!" Talnic shouted, coming up to the dragon's side and swiping down. His sword bounced right off. Talnic swore, hoping he wouldn't ruin the blade. The dragon turned to him, eyes wide and frenzied, and lunged forward. Talnic leaped to the side and swung up, hoping to catch the beast on the underside of the neck. The hit did little damage, but seemed to actually penetrate the dragon's hide. The dragon roared in anger, spinning and swiping Talnic's feet out from under him with its tail. His sword clattered away. He really hoped he wouldn't need to replace it.
  22. The dragon was ready to strike again. They were taking too long. Minuet had missed her chance to leave, and Talnic wasn't going to leave if there was someone still on the roof. Talnic drew his sword and charged the dragon.
  23. Talnic cursed. "Get out of here!" he shouted to the others. "There's no use fighting! It'll kill us in minutes! Get back into the tower!" He pulled the door open, waiting for a moment to see if any one would take the opportunity. Any one who didn't would be an idiot, however. Staying and fighting meant death, unless the dragon decided to retreat.
