  1. Talnic sighed. "He said he'd talk to you later. Wait back with the others."
  2. Warily, Talnic sheathed his knife and followed Triage, keeping a close eye on him for any signs of suspicious movement.
  3. Talnic cursed, and had to force himself not to bring the person to the ground. He was a young kid, probably just a year or so younger than Talnic himself, and fairly tall as well. He wasn't carrying any obvious weapons, although he almost definitely had something hidden on his person. You'd be crazy to go out on your own, watching groups from the bushes, without even carrying a knife. Talnic froze, feet planted in the snow, hand with his knife motionless in the air. The words exchanged by the others seemed faint and distant. Every instinct he had screamed at him to turn and run, leaving the others behind. To hide. This person knew him, and now the others did too. They were now aware of Talnic, the person using the Shadow as a mask to hide. They knew that he had secrets. And how long would it be until this person dug them up as well, and shared them? How long would it be until Talnic had no secrets left to keep? No. No, he would defend his secrets. He would make sure that no one would be able to find out where he came from and who he knew. He wouldn't let them find anything that they could use against him. Talnic forced himself to move, lowering his knife a little, but still keeping it at the ready. He edged closer to Triage. "How do you know my name?" he asked quietly.

  5. When, after seeing the update with the pictures of the coins, and then getting your pins, you decide you are a raccoon, as you like shiny things with Cosmere symbols on them.
  6. Koloss head-munching day in eight days! Yay!

Also, I need to write a short story. (It's about dragons and books.) Hopefully I'll finish tomorrow morning. I have two completed short stories, and then this one that's half done. And... I need to submit one of them on Sunday to a thing.

I was thinking I'd post them on here, and have people offer feedback and let me know which one of the stories was their favorite, so I know which one to submit. Plus, this is the fastest way to get feedback, considering some of you role-players are on all day. ;)

If you'd be willing to read through them and offer up some of your feedback, please comment so I can ping you tomorrow when I post the main thing. Because I'll have one day to make edits and stuff like that.

One of the stories is about 600 words, another is about 4,000 (I think), and this other one I'm working on is currently about 3,000, although I'm only halfway done.

Thank you sosososososo much for any help. I wasn't able to workshop any of these in creative writing, so I really need all the help I can get.

    Bridge Four!

Ugggg... This is taking so long...

Hopefully I'll finish in the next few hours and then get them posted.

  7. When you give your teacher a copy of The Way of Kings!
  8. Your petition is accepted. Hi! Welcome to the club!
  9. When you get some new pins and think they are the most beautiful pins you own. (I have quite the collection (including a suit of armor pin), so this is worth noting. The Sanderson pins beat the suit of armor.) I was really impressed by how awesome they looked. A little pricey, but completely worth it. They are super nice for being so small (which I also really like). Did I mention how awesome they look? (I am afraid to lose them, though...) When you compare your height to that of Shallan.
  10. Good to know! I'll add it to my (ever growing) list!
  11. The TV show. I don't watch much TV, but should I check out the book? Guys, my pins just showed up! I got the Bridge Four one and the Cosmere one! They're storming awesome! (I'll post pictures in the You Know You Are A Sanderfan When thread. They're super pretty.) I second this question.
  12. That is a good point. But my bird is the one I am around the most often, and so I feel like I am more comfortable calling him something that many people on Earth would view as an insult.
  13. Eh, don't be. It's what happens when you hang out online with a bunch of Sanderfans all the time. Yeah, I really have no desire to go to one. Oh, that's a little rough... As a kid, I definitely would have said Hermione and Annabeth, but since it's been so long since I've last read Harry Potter I don't know Hermione well as a character, and I recently reread Percy Jackson so I know I'm not Annabeth. (There's definitely a little crossover, but not much. Probably more with Annabeth than Hermione.) I guess Kendra from Fablehaven is the only half decent answer to this for me at the moment. Some friends of mine have said that they think I'm really similar to a character from The Queen's Gambit, but I haven't seen it, so I can't say if that claim is true or false. I think the issue with this is that any characters who are like me always end up, by the end of the story, doing something proactive, which I very likely wouldn't do. I don't like getting involved in things that I can't back out of, and the whole point of raising the stakes makes it so that the person involved in the conflict can't back out. Novels in general are conspiring against me.
  14. When you call your parrot a chicken. (His actual name is Kaladin, by the way, but I'm sure most of you know that already. )
  15. Being around people in general makes it too loud to do anything... I've never been to what would qualify as an actual party, though, so... I can't read/write/do homework if there is people noise or music, but I'm just fine with the random noises my bird makes. It can be a little distracting if he starts going crazy, but other than that, I can generally tune it out really well. In Mistborn, though, I think the parties would be far quieter than most modern ones. The music would likely be instrumental, and the talking probably wouldn't get too loud. In fact, I think Elend's balcony would be the perfect reading spot. If only it actually existed.
  16. That's very helpful for me, you know. I do need to go now, though. Bye!
  17. Should I change the name to the Socially Awkward Bookworms Club? Or guild? Or clan? Or leave it as is? I think the Socially Awkward Bookworms Guild sounds neat. Although, acording to the google definition of guild, we are not a medieval association of craftsmen or merchants, often having considerable power. But we do align with the second definition in a way. An association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
  18. I guess we'll have to do it some other time, then!
  19. I'm going to be busy for the rest of the day, but if that's something you'd like to do, I can put it on the first post.
  20. Hi! Welcome!
  21. (Trying to keep the conversation going, because this is great...) What Sanderson character do you guys find is the most similar to you? I'd personally have to say I'm a weird combination of Elend and Shallan. (Edit- Elend in tFE and sort of in tWoA.) *realizes how awkward that was* *is glad to have a place to post stuff like this where everyone else is in the same boat*

I used to go around the house annoying my parents with this song.. I honestly forgot it existed. Also the Harry Potter in 99 seconds was my childhood :P
