  1. I didn't get this impression. In fact, I think the direction the story is going in will result in cooperation between the humans and the Singers on some level, given Venli and Rlain's arcs, and even Kaladins interactions with the group of Singers at the beginning of OB. The characters we've seen want to cross bridges and UNITE as Dalinar would say. I'd think that the new Knights Radiant would learn from the mistakes their predecessors made. Wait, now I'm not sure if this is a joke post. Is it serious? I'm actually confused because some of the stuff on your list (ahem feeding Singers to the great shells) is kinda crazy.
  2. It's okay. My brain cells are dead too (I've been on a bit of a reading marathon rereading Oathbringer).
  3. So, this was kind of inspired by the Endowment podcast, where Ian was wondering how to describe Endowment's infinity. And they concluded we didn't know enough, but I still decided to give it a try. It's supposed to be reminiscent of the poetic descriptions Brandon provides for Ruin and Preservation in SH, and then for Odium in Oathbringer. Hopefully I didn't mimic his layout too much. Anyways, here goes. Before her spread a radiance, brilliant and all-engulfing. The light touched everything, and it left each thing it touched changed. For even when the light had gone, whatever it had touched began to shine with a life of its own, as the power of the light entered what had once been dark. In this way, each thing gave of itself to everything else, and so the brilliance came from everywhere at once. Though the light was not striated and divided as the beams of a rainbow are, it was comprised of every color at once, distinct and yet merged seamlessly into a whole. It was the wisdom of a teacher imparted to a student, the water of the heavens sent to nourish the earth, the spark of life a mother breathes into her child. But it was also the fear the hunter instills his prey with, the darkness left when a flash of lightning blinds the eyes, the pain of a knife as a torturer disfigures their victim. The light was the interchange between all aspects of the universe. Nothing can exist without affecting what is around it, as each object imparts a piece of itself to everything it touches. The light was the essence of giving, bereft of intent or effect.
  4. I get the feeling that the majority of his power and salience travels with the highstorm especially after his comment to dalinar about only seeing stuff where a highstorm is. I could be wrong though.
  5. Proof 1: How else would you explain the big swords in all the anime? They were inspired by shardblades. Theory: Two plus two equals pickle. I can’t wait to see the proof.
  6. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but make sure to read Mistborn Era 2, especially Bands of Mourning (there’s a little more info about Kelsier in it hint hint). Your first line makes me think you haven’t read it yet. If you HAVE read the book, then here’s my explanation for why I think it’s improbable that Kelsier will take up a Shard. Also, I’m curious how you made the connection that Hoid hates Kelsier because he is similar to Rayse. I was under the impression that we don’t know why Hoid and Kelsier don’t get long, because Brandon’s answered any questions about it with a RAFO. By the way. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard. Have a cookie.
  7. I answered honestly and got... Duralumin Gnat. I guess I’m just a boring person, guys . Seriously, though, nobody else who’s posted comments got a gnat except for one person who got it with rng. Any TRUE fellow gnats are prob too embarrassed to post . To all my fellow gnats, I have a message. We must stand up! Are we powerless? Pretty much! Are our allomantic abilities crap? Absolutely! But we should be respected as allomancer even if effectively we’re not! Be loud and proud fellow gnats! #GnatsAreAllomancersToo
  8. @Musespren, just so you know, there is a free online copy of Warbreaker online at Sanderson’s website at brandonsanderson.com. So, you don’t even need to go to the library to read it (unless you really prefer hard copies over digital ). Anyways, happy reading!
  9. I’m so excited to finally be able to see a Sanderson work on television. We’ve been waiting for this for what? 13 years? And it’s finally here! (More like in a year or two... arrrggghhh)
  10. Oh God. This took me like 5 minutes before I got it. That’s... wow.
  11. Huh. Never saw this quote so I thought I should share. Anyways, since we’ve seen more than minor hints about awakening, it’s just more evidence that it isn’t end-negative. Or at least that’s my excuse for posting this quote. Does anybody know if there have been any forum discussions about what this other end-negative magic system could be?
  12. Are people who are spiked open to any kind of shardic influence, or only to the vessel with Ruins investiture? Or does it depend on the number of spikes? Could odium not take control of a Kandra on Braize but maybe take control of Marsh? I don’t remember if there have been any wobs about Bleeder being directly manipulated by Trell, or if she was just free from Harmony and was purely following her own perturbed motives.
  13. Basically, it sounds like virtual reality, which should totally be a thing in future Mistborn trilogies. Love the original idea @Kidpen.
  14. Keep in mind that Elantris was the first book Sanderson got published. His writing style and plot development have gotten a lot better since 2005, at least in my opinion. If you looking for a new series, I’d suggest Mistborn before Stormlight Archive, especially if you’re doing audio books (stormlight archive audio books are around 50 hours in length).
  15. Truthwatchers - Human Lie Detectors Edgedancers - Nice people Skybreakers -Wannabe Waxilliums Lightweavers - Confusing (cough cough Shallan)
  16. Actually, Brandon seemed to say on his last State of Brandon that Elantris sequels would take place over Nightblood.
  17. That is a very interesting quote I was not aware of! Thank you Calderis for the new info. So, considering the WoB and the prior discussion about Freudian psychology, what if Odiums core intent is not ALL emotions but all carnal or instinctual emotion, the ones commonly associated with the Id? When Dalinar is overwhelmed by Odiums intent during the vision, he lists off feeling emotions like “the scream of a thousand warriors,” “the moment of most sensual touch and ecstasy,” “ the sorrow of loss,” and “the joy of victory.” And of course hatred. These emotions all seem primal in some way, associated with instinctual drives like seeking pleasure and triumph or avoiding pain and loss. If this were true, Odium would be only partially correct in claiming to be passion. And then of course there would be the possibility that another Shard is associated with emotions formed by the Superego, filtered through and influenced by society and cultural environment as opposed to carnal and primitive emotions.
  18. That’s actually cool I read Beloved just a month ago, and I really liked it. Never thought I’d see a reference to it on here.
  19. Even though Nightblood can cut through all three realms, I doubt it can cut through Shard plate. It seems equally as sharp as Blades, so in that respect it’ll react the same way to Plate as normal Shard blades, by being deflected. Considering Nightblood feeds on investiture, maybe we could see it interact with the stormlight powering the Plate (i.e. slurping it up)? I know that it consumes the investiture of the person using it, but idk if it consumes investiture any other ways, like investiture contained within its victims. Can anybody fill in my gaps in knowledge?
  20. Yeah. I think it would make a good one too. If I had to choose between a good anime series and a good live action movie, though, I’d have to go with the movie. For me, nothing beats live-action for level of epicness.
  21. Wayne: Hat-toning (for his mistakes) Szeth: Shin-consolable Adolin: totally-gonna-raise-his-Blade-from-the-dead (that’s one word, and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise) Sorry. Couldn’t Hoid myself back.
  22. So I found this WoB about the 17th Shard: And then I thought “hmmmmmm, doesn’t that look familiar to a certain letter?” So obviously this is a bit of a crackpot theory, but what if Endowment were actually part of the 17th Shard? They both seem to share a similar non-interference policy. And I see no reason why the 17th shard wouldn’t allow a Shard to join them, as long as their goals align. Feel free to tear this idea to shreds
  23. I had a dream where I was on Roshar but then it turned into Scadrial and and I was the Lord Ruler and for some reason I was kicking some guys butts. Then Mr. S came along and started reading a story about Hoid and Rayse. I’m pretty sure everybody has dreams at some point about the books they read. God knows how many dreams I had after finishing Harry Potter...
  24. This is currently one of the most popular theories about Trell. A lot of people have noticed independence is sort of a theme when it comes to him/her, especially in SoS, with Bleeder talking about “freeing” people as well as the fact that she herself is freed from Harmony’s influence thanks to a Trellium spike. The second letter, which I BELIEVE was confirmed by a recent WoB that hasn’t been posted on Arcanum yet, only makes this theory more likely if Autonomy is actually colonizing the Cosmere. I disagree though that Kelsier is an agent of Autonomy. Hypothetically it’s possible. But, the tenets of Survivorism look like they’ve been based off of Kelsier’s personality. What you interpret as indications of Autonomy’s influence, I think are just a reflection of Kelsiers life. After all, he spent his entire life outside of governmental control and fought against TLR himself, so he epitomized independence and thinking for oneself in a way. Plus, I doubt that Trell has been around long enough to influence Survivorism for the last 300 years. Harmony hasn’t been fighting actively against him/her until recently by using Wax, Wayne, etc as agents. I mean, we did see him molding Wax by sending him Lessie a number of years ago. Still, you’d think he would have been making more preparations if Trell had arrived long enough ago to influence Survivorism.
  25. What quote are you referring to? Both of the quotes @Spoolofwhool included specify that they are discussing Ambition the Shard.
