[OB] Full Book Reactions / Full Spoilers Thread
Fulminato replied to Chaos's topic in Stormlight Archive
young dalinar was a monster, he laid waste in his wake long before the rift part 2, the burning. and the end of the world his here, if the storming assasin in white want fight for you... -
Yelig-nar had great powers, perhaps the powers of all Surges compounded in one. He could transform any Voidbringer into an extremely dangerous enemy. Curiously, three legends I found mention swallowing a gemstone to engage this process. —From Hessi’s Mythica, page 27 Oathbringer Chapter 95 epigraph. i think between yalig-nar and amaram the first was in charge.
-
yes, but the pratice level don't tell nothing on the 'advancement' of the radiant. Kai (the master skybreaker) took two decad to pass fromt the third ideal to swore the four.
-
she is the more long practiced radiant, she bond ivory roughly six years ago and explore the power of the bond after that event. shallan recover his bond at the end of WoTK, Kaladin don't (actively) surgebind before bridge four, renarin start near the middle of WoR and dalinar bond the stormfather only at the very end of WoR, lift is lift. only szeth had more experience of surgebinding and indeed the chase of the ruby is very skilled.

1) i don't see so much problem. a perpendicularity is a place of concentrate investiture, so high to bend the border of the three realm and create a 'well' piercing the three realm. in the scene there is an freaking huge amount of gloryspren (the sprens are a tiny bit of investiture gained sentience) go to dalinar, enough to create the perpendicularity, dalinar make a similar stunt in the moment he use the vedenar oathgate without a blade to work the mechanism. 2) the bodies of the vessel of ruin and preservation are the real bodies of the people take the shard, ati was a red head man, and leras ad a prominent nose (IIRC). atium and lerasium are the solid manifestation of the shard power, the raw power of honor is 'spent' in making the spren. before odium shatter honor the 'spren with mind' was less plentiful (pattern in WoR) -
[OB] Favourite OB moment / Character ?
Fulminato replied to Stromblessed's topic in Stormlight Archive
some moment in the book was realy epic (dalinar open the palm and seeing a gloryspren and spoke "you cannot have my pain" is a powerful scene). but this dialogue between skar e lyn is the my favourite. -
[OB] - The Cosmeric implications of Oathbringer's ending
Fulminato replied to rdog2213's topic in Stormlight Archive
Honor is long dead, dead for good. a shard need cenury to fully die in nothingness. Dalinar is the chosen champion of odium, C. had better skill, to honor, to see in the future, and six years after is a pittance for a god, so she should be know. for save the world dalinar need to stand against the allure of odium, the man go the the nightwatcher cannot withstand the assault of the pain, he need to grow a better person, and only remove that memory can help become the champion can challenge odium and don't swap side. only after become that man dalinar need face the memory to learn how control the pain, how bind the emotion.- 69 replies

[OB] Moash vs Kaladin and why they choose differently
Fulminato replied to Jenet's topic in Stormlight Archive
i find clear a this point the first and more important mechanism for put one in the hand of odium is 'give odium the passion, feed him whit the feel of a man'. dalinar was near crushed for the guilty of a life of slaughtering and excess, amaram is consumed by failing someone (“No,” Amaram said. “No, he’ll never forgive me.” “The bridgeman?” “Not him.” Amaram tapped his chest. “Him. I’m sorry, Dalinar.”), moash convince himself don't be responsable of the whole affaire, it is a elhokar fault for the die of whis grandparent, it is the king error for his enslavement,he blame kaladin for the foil the king's assassination. he don't bear any guilt. kaladin blame himself for any lost, any situation, he push the self guilt to the breaking point. odium cannot take the kaladin guilt, cannot take the emotion from him. i think this is the difference between the two. -
shallan don't have her plate, nor jasnah or kaladin. the progression of the lightweaver don't think match exatly the progression of the other order. shallan need pass more then four truth to abtain the same status of a five-oath-sworn KR of the other order.

“Though many wished Urithiru to be built in Alethela, it was obvious that it could not be. And so it was that we asked for it to be placed westward, in the place nearest to Honor.” WotK, Chapter 35 epigraph and the epigraphs from the gems-stormlight-powered-library renforce the idea I am worried about the tower’s protections failing. If we are not safe from the Unmade here, then where? —From drawer 3-11, garnet Oathbringer chapter 73 -
My spren claims that recording this will be good for me, so here I go. Everyone says I will swear the Fourth Ideal soon, and in so doing, earn my armor. I simply don’t think that I can. Am I not supposed to want to help people? —From drawer 10-12, sapphire Oathbringer Chapter 86 "that other may stand" don't think she can alredy sworn the four ideal.

odium apparence was like a shin, the shin land was 'gifted' to the immigrant and filled whit the plants and animals of the destroyed planet. but the shin are quite different from the rest of roshar, and no one of the herald match the shin feature. i don't think we know all the story, something miss for sure. the tranquilline hall stuff in the (no so) last desolation vision dalinar listen jezrien spoke “I will lead the charge for the Tranquiline Halls,” the man shouted. “You will not see me again, but think not on that now! You have won your peace. Revel in it! Rebuild. Go now, help your fellows. Carry with you the light of your Herald king’s words. We are victorious, at long last, over evil!” Oathbringer Capter 42 "consequence" 1) odium in the dialogue whit Mr T. is amaze of the diagram (“You did this without access to Fortune, or the Spiritual Realm? Truly incredible.”) , and azure "I realize you’re all eager to return to your lands. I can even believe that—through some tide of Fortune—Kaladin Stormblessed has foreseen some danger.” the sphere can foretell the future, at on extend. but need someone invested to works properly 2) in warbreaker the people think the returned can see the future in the painting, i suppose, like the sphere, a sufficient invested person can make this work. the only awakening we see is hoid make the doll move (the jacket turn grey is the proof), azure simply ask some cutted fabric. if you don't know nothing of the awekening process this don't make a huge hole. like in wor the metal dust hoid put in his drink and the 'friendly attitude' of the crowd after. sadeas murder is the foundation of the flip of the army in the Thaylenah city battle. many in the forum buzzing of politicly fallout, we see none, but the murder is very important in the 'oathbringher economy story' Mr T want the human survive, even a little seed is enough to reborn the tree, the diagram isn't never point to defeat odium, all the time is near to spoke the word thinking of the fallen friend make him rebound. sworn the oath fell like forget and cast away all of them. i think the oath is more tied to accept losing the people he care and protect. -
theory [OB] Unsurprisingly, Feather wants to talk Renarin
Fulminato replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
ivory after jasnah don't kill renarin spoke of the 'strange but right' of the action. actualy the kholin prince is a wildcard, gyls is a radiant spren, corrupted by sja-anat. he can gape between the two (honor/cultivation - odium) and make the decisive action to defeat odium. (mistborn era 1 spoiler) and don't forget in the taravangian - odium scene, when rayse look at the diagram some word are hidden to him, and inside them the name of renarin kholin.- 86 replies

theory [OB] Unsurprisingly, Feather wants to talk Renarin
Fulminato replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
in the skybreaker 'traning' section spoke of the division surge in term of 'dangerous'. the oath progression isn't a inbound thing of sourgebinding, but a system ishar built to prevent the abuse of the surge themself. honor 'bless' the whole system making it 'his' law. my opinion is the different progression of different order tied to "how far a person actracting a kind of spren should be to safetly use that surge?"- 86 replies

Honor in is vision talk clearly of the everstorm. “But why?” Dalinar asked. “Please. Why did they abandon their duty?” The figure seemed to study him. “I have said that cannot be of much help to you. The Night of Sorrows will come, and the True Desolation. The Everstorm.” WotK Chapter 52 "highway of the sun" and for the gavilar's sphere give to szeth That tale always discomforted Szeth, as it reminded him of the strange black sphere Gavilar had given him. He’d hidden that carefully in Jah Keved. He didn’t know what it was, but he didn’t want to risk a master taking it from him. WotK Chapter I-3 "The Glory of Ignorance"

Fulminato replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
for the illumination surge, the skybreaker can use the surge of division only after the sworn of the third oath, before only can access of the surge of gravitation. and the stormfather tell to dalinar of the surge of tension works very different in stoneward and bondsmith. i don't know is renarin can access of the surge (i think yes, btw), but his incapabilty of use at this point isn't a solid proof in one sense of the other.- 86 replies

it isn't the first time dalinar 'hear' something. in WotK for example "Once these weapons meant protecting, a voice inside of him whispered. [...] A parshman nurse had practically raised Dalinar. Life before death. What was that voice?" chapter 26, stillness.- 69 replies

[OB] Cultivation being deevy(ous) to Dalinar at end of Oathbringer
Fulminato replied to Walin's topic in Stormlight Archive
in that moment dalinar *was* the honor perpindicularity. he pierce all the realm, not only the cognitive. "Dalinar thrust his left hand to the side, plunging it between realms, grabbing hold of the very fabric of existence. The world of minds, the realm of thought. He thrust his right hand to the other side, touching something vast, something that wasn’t a place—it was all places in one. He’d seen this before, in the moment when Odium had let him glimpse the Spiritual Realm." the voice he hear come from there. can be cultivation, can be evi. but don't come from the cognitive realm. -
(near) all the death rattle are some event foreseeing There is one you will watch. Though all of them have some relevance to precognition, Moelach is one of the most powerful in this regard. His touch seeps into a soul as it breaks apart from the body, creating manifestations powered by the spark of death itself. But no, this is a distraction. Deviation. Kingship. We must discuss the nature of kingship. —From the Diagram, Book of the 2nd Desk Drawer: paragraph 15

sleeping is overrated

roaming through WoR i find a possible interpretation (not full ironclad, but i think solid) of a death rattle. The day was ours, but they took it,” the boy cried. “Stormfather! You cannot have it. The day is ours. They come, rasping, and the lights fail. Oh, Stormfather! this should refers to the battle of narak (end of WoR) the day was ours -> the human army win the fight but they took it -> the listener succeed in the everstorm's summoning stormfather you cannot have it -> the stormfather try to hide the whole thing whit an highstorm (i will bring you a storm of cleansing. it will carry away yours corpses. this is all i can do) they come, rasping -> the most murky point, but i think refer the two storm clashing. the lights fail -> the ten lamps powering the oathgate fade in the moment of the activation (She pulled her Blade free. The ten lamps faded like closing eyes.)

i don't see why the unmade appear one after another with the progression of the desolation. and the ten harald were created at the start of the whole affaire. for symmetry the all the unmade start in the same moment. PS: yea, i know. but they don't broke the whole oathpact, but some of the oath they take becoming herald are for sure broken that day. this don't make sense for me. the heralds were quite sane at the start of each desolation. the whole cycle utterly destroyed their will, but in the WotK prelude don't see any sign of madness in the kalak - jezrien dialogue. the heralds were well broken, but not mad. the madness (in my opinion) grow after the Aharietiam, the act to broking the oath had some catastrophic effect on their psyche and they have over four millenia to grow worst (like the companion of nale, kalak i presume, tell in the WoR prologue). the fact of the madness of each herald is linked to his/her divine attributes let me think of the broken-but-not-broken oathpact effect. dalinar (in the real world) spoke in dawnchant during the 'nohadon vision'. based on the 'purelake' vision we know the real body of dalinar spoke the language of his 'in vision' interlocutor [at the start he spoke whit a selay and at the ending from the vision with honor, and navani told him he had swiched from on old dialect of selay to a strange language in the end], so in the shadowday the dawnchat was a not a dead language, in the WotK [in world book] nohadon spoke to journey to urithiru on foot, and his family used the oathgate. (My family traveled to Urithiru via the direct method, and had been awaiting me for weeks when I arrived, WotK chapter 58). another proof of that the writing on the oathgate wall was all on dawnchant [WoR Chapter 85]. if the dawnchant was the old language of the listener the human during the shadowday learn it.
-
the unmade exist long before the heralds broke the oathpact.
