  1. Doesn't say it's canon (quite yet). There was that reference by Taravangian about star metal(?). I guess I simply assume that the Fused had some knowledge of aluminium since its not an unknown metal on Roshar just rare? Unless they don't, then forget everything I said.
  2. I guess the better question would be why would a bonded Unmade be placed with the Bondsmiths? Will have agree to disagree then. You place more weight on the specificity of spren and I place more weight on the number itself.
  3. Because as the Stormfather says, there can ever be 3. If it's the law, breaking it would be seditious yes? How would you form a Nahel-bond with an Unmade?
  4. The thing is, the Nightwatcher was not mentioned in that conversation. Dalinar spoke of Cultivation. The Stormfather says there can ever be 3 Bondsmiths, not necessarily saying that there are only 3 Bondsmith-spren. Dalinar automatically assumes that there are only 3 Bondsmith-spren. But of course there's the 'One for each of us' caveat. That's where my speculation comes in: This Epigraph tells me that the Bondsmith can grow beyond 3. Of course you've said that voindbinding would be used to do so, but I doubt that any within the Order would consider voidbinding as an option considering what they did to Khazilah. Therefore,I believe that there are more than 3 Bondsmith-spren and they are divided under 3 aspects Storm,Stone and Spren.
  5. I don't get why people see that WOB to somehow have a connection to the Sibling. Was the question asked in reference to the Sibling issue?
  6. I'm gonna float something here: Could the Sib-ling reference a race of spren and not an individual one? Simply because of the capitalized wording?
  7. Venli used some sort of spiritual-adhesion in her Voidform.
  8. I believe Odium was not on Roshar when Tanavast finally died. Likely the plans for the dagger was always present but could only be utilized this particular Desolation.
  9. Pay it no heed, I'm just horrible at explaining my intuitive leaps it seems. I just don't see the need for Odium to inform the Fused specifically about Nightblood as they would have defended themselves them same way like with any other shardblade. The 'Edgedancer-Fused' would've taken the aluminium regardles.
  10. Her priority was the ruby. The sheath helped in getting away from the only effective pursuer. I would think that a bad guy would not share information about a threat to himself to his underlings. Odium doesn't necessarily need to tell the Fused that Nightblood is dangerous beyond it being a shardblade. Knowledge of aluminium would likely be more wide known among the Fused considering their opponents. The sheath also stands out as it has no ornamentation and metallurgy in general is fairly limited pre-Recreance which I believe is where the Fused knowledge of metallurgy stands.
  11. The thing is aluminium works against all investiture. She may not have known of Nightblood specifically but shardblades in general.
  12. Do we know how the Listeners learn how to bond the blades as they have had no interaction with humans before that?
  13. Horrible thought, are the people killed by Honorblade sent to Braize? I would think that at the beginning it would be relatively easy to do as the number of Fused would be limited? The thing is, a Heralds connection to his/her Honorblade is fairly shallow. If it was part of the original Oathpact I would think that the two would have a much more deeper connection.
  14. Ishar's Mandate: A: This is where the proto-Radiant spren began to implement Oaths? B: This is where the proto-Radiants standardized/codified the Oaths? C: This is where the Order of the Kinghts Radiant was formed? 1. Was Honors influence/investment within Roshar great enough that sentient spren, when they began to bond humans, did it with some semblance of the Oaths being part of the bond? 2. Syl says that the spren-bond was based upon the Honorblades. Would that imitation include the Oathpact? But the Oathpact was made before the First Desolation where the Honorblades would not have been needed as the Heralds did not intend to return. Did the Heralds then had another pact with Honor when they were granted the Honorblades? 3. Has all the proto-radiant spren always carried the Ideals of the Knights Radiant as we know them or were they gradually shaped and became more defined as the Radiants solidified and further defined their Order? Regular Spren-bonding + Oath-making = Nahel-Bond?
  15. I would have thought that all things not directly spelled out in the books are a form of speculation. Isn't that the point of the forums, to share them. @Rhapsody and @Calderis equates the 'laws and precepts' as the organization of the Order of Knights Radiant as a whole. I perceive that epigraph as Ishar demanding the spren to toe the line. The granting of the surges to men were not planned by the Heralds or even Honor. It was a consequence of the spren bonding. From the Listener Songs, the 'betrayal' of the spren was not of survival but of taste. Considering that, other than perhaps the honorspren, I doubt that the other spren would have bothered with any kind of oath/ideal as a prerequisite to growth/enhancement.
  16. It's not in the text. It's an inference. If it was cannon there would be no need for discussion.
  17. Yeah, all spren who came after were created by spren who already agreed to that compact. The spren agreed to be bound to the Oaths. You view our theory as Ishar essentially reporgramming surgebinding. If it was a reprogramming it would have been a form of corruption. The spren had to willingly agree to the binding.
  18. I would like to point out, spren don't break promises. Once they decided to incorporate the Oaths it would have been eternal. The ones who did not would be destroyed.
  19. I don't think the gems were even cut. If the gems are investiture cant they just shape it like they shape shardplate?
  20. Why not? Honor was around to steer everything. Ishar wouldn't have needed to micro-manage everything. Honor may not directly affect the happenings in the Physical Realm, but surely he could manage the spren.
  21. Sure, but that specific threat by Ishar would have been made before the Orders were founded. Ishar demanded Oaths, it doesn't mean that it was codified there and then. Ishar would have only been able to officially approve of the Orders on the next Desolation once everything have been formalized.
  22. As I've pointed out, the individual Oaths may have came from the spren. But the act of having to make the Oaths came from Ishar. That specific WOB doesn't discount Oath-making being separately added to surgebinding/spren-bonding.
