Aluminum, and Duralumin, Gnats don't really have much power. They can burn an enhancement metal without any metal stores to decrease. However- since aluminum is so valuable, someone with a lot of it would be a target. So, if theives are coming in, the Gnisting would swallow the evidence and burn it-wasting much money, but--well, yeah, no good can come of drastically reducing funds of houses. However, you could perform Allomantic arson by breaking in somewhere and burning some aluminum jewelry or something. I dunno, I think a person trying to bring down someone rich with a lot of aluminum assets could get some serious stuff done, compared to a Coinshot or Tineye who could be better thieves in literally every other scenario.

We may see one or more of three things, though only two are about gems specifically: a Sizgil test on squires vs Kaladin in Stormlight--holding; a Navani test on fabrials; or an Interlude ardent chapter where they explore the relationship between surface area, volume, cross section(s, depending on how rotationally symmetric the gem is), gem type, and Stormlight capacity. There's probably a formula in-world, but the main characters who ever had an internal thought that mentioned this (Shallan internally commenting on Jasnah's cracked smokestone, etc.) didn't allude to that.

Well, spren are shaped by perception, so maybe the idea that it always summons to the hand makes dead ones do it, too.

(This is a joke) What if the movie started with two people talking about their favorite books, then the main person launches into an explanation of Way of Kings that becomes a Princess Bride- like movie (the describer narrates it and the people interrupt) -- but they only interrupt at the very end of the movie to say how cool it is! And if this sounds too much like T-Rex from dinosaur Comics...then I'm going to refrain from making a tautological statement here, folks.

It would be cool to see just a short montage that appeals to the lowest common denominator/non-Cosmere fans--If it doesn't, it may end up like The Great Wall trailer which just looked weird to me, to be honest. Something like, "When the king was killed, we swore vengeance. 6 years later, having wrought a slaughter, we still have not asked ourselves the reason for his assassination, nor sought to end the perpetual battles we fight."- could be either Dalinar or Jasnah speaking. Plays a short montage of plateau runs and field battles, ending with Kaladin and his squad (a little further back) rushing Helaran. Next, Shallan in front of Jasnah or Adolin in front of Dalinar (whoever opened the trailer), where the voiceover-giver says a line (thus establishing their character) Then, cuts to Kaladin finishing up his talk with Wit, and Wit leaves with, "Well, there certainly are a lot of actors in this play, and I can't spend all my time coaching just you." etc. stuff that introduces a recognizable plot with familiar plot elements so people can compare it to stuff they've seen before

Most of my theories are just two-book patterns that may be broken in Oathbringer-- but we won't know until it comes out! 1-Dalinar will have another "I feel no shame" moment in a late-book battle. Since the first was about what he became, the second about when he failed in an event, maybe the third will be him accepting his bloody past as necessary. 2-The bridgemen progress further in being a cohesive and effective unit. 3-There will be enough cohesion with the last book's plot that it just seems like a massive book with a cliffhanger at the end of every one of all ten chapters. 4-Lopen will keep his job as comic relief during bridgemen chapters but Lift will get a job doing so during Radiant Training chapters 5-There will be an especially traumatic flashback for Dalinar within a chapter's-worth of plot before his viewpoint in the series began. i saw some awesome theories above, too.

What is the best moment in The Stormlight Archive?
Walin replied to ICanDream's topic in Stormlight Archive
When Kaladin noticed his pool of blood, and Elhokar becomes coherent: "I was wrong. We're both dead." Also most of the ones posted above. -
Well, I know Dalinar had about eight thousand at the Tower, which dropped to two thousand in the conflict. Someone said on the "epic fantasy army scales" thread that the Everstorm battle had thirty thousand Alethi forces vs. ten thousand Parshendi (plus ten more thousand who were singing)

Sorry, I think she drew him during the fight with the chasm fiend, because she needed a sketch of Veil to use that illusion, and to even turn her hair black- so she sketched Kaladin for the illusion attached to Pattern and drew one of herself so that when the chasmfiend attacked her, she wouldn't die--an illusion of her would get destroyed instead. Though by now she's almost certainly done a sketch of Kaladin, if only to fill her sketchbook with aquaintances.

what happens if an hemalurgic spike does not kill you
Walin replied to king of nowhere's topic in Mistborn
I think I read, either in Hero of Ages or at the Ars Arcanum in the end of Bands of Morning, that the spike has to go through moving blood, not just lots of blood. So you'd have to spike them through the heart and give them a Miles Dagouter-worthy gold metalmind for this to happen (which might heal both the body and the soul (maybe not the Investiture part though) according to Brandon at one signing transcripted on Theoryland) So maybe the first medallions were given by death, and then safety? -
Maybe it's all just uncasted pottery? But in all seriousness, I think that it is one of two things: Regular sedimentary stuff that becomes mud in the humidity of highstorms, or rock that generally breaks into bigger chunks that get broken apart in the high winds of highstorms, eventually dissolving into drops of mud after successive crashes with other flying boulders and stuff.

So in the deleted WoR interlude, where Thoughts?

I remembered somewhere in WoK that Hoid made an offhand comment to Dalinar about the world spinning, and Dalinar being "flabbergasted." What if this wasn't just some offhand metaphor that Hoid was saying Okay, so it was just a metaphor, but it reveals the fact that Rosharans might think the world is flat. This bears a lot of importance to the fact that worldhoppers use the Cognitive Realm to worldhop. If the worlds of anywhere are not percieved as flat, would it become round in Cognitive space, and is that the reason for era 4 mistborn needing FTL machines rather than Oathgate thingys?

Geniuses Wanted- Well Read Sanderfans -with restrictions
Walin replied to 1stBondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
By the end of Era 4 Mistborn, there are no shards. The Radiants, creating massive hospitals with Edgedancers and Truthwatchers and Regrowth fabrials, deplete Roshar of Stormlight. Skybreaker police with Adhesion fabrials that serve as a kind of barricade in chases, movies using Lightweaving, Oathgates to shardworlds, Gravitation rollercoasters, etc. use even more. Spacecraft use Gravitation for propulsion and gravity, and Abrasion for spinning parts (instead of ball bearings). Honor, the shard, is no more. Cultivation may even disappear. There is now a Feruchemal bank that you can exchange Breaths (or some form of "non-perishable" (Stormlight) Investiture) for a medallion or two, and you can "recharge" it/them at stations scattered across Scadrial. Result: Harmony gets really powerless or Splintered into nothing due to all the Investiture getting stripped away into ettmetal for all this. Huge consumption of Dor, it gets converted to other Investiture by some overly complex Aon because everyone wants energy. No Devotion or Dominion. Autonomy -- actually, even though the sands are useful, people don't use it as much as other investiture. It gets shipped through the Cognitive Realm to Sel, where the super complex conversion Aon turns it to Stormlight. Ambition -- people Soulcast metal into silver, bring it to Threnody, and somehow get it to charge with Investiture. Used to fight Odium and evil cognitive shadows--Mistborn/Knight Radiant army fights Odium and Unmade with Silver Nightbloods that destroy evil with Ambition investiture. Endowment gets used up to create all this, Odium gets Splintered. Other Shards--perhaps they resist, but they eventually lose in the fight to give Investiture to everyone. A sort of Galactic Senate forms with all sorta-Splinters and some elected officials, and the books end because nothing's interesting. -

Quartz- Called Quartz Gnats, because quartz isn't a metal. They really burn traces of impurities in it to speed their digestion, but since we don't yet know the combo and percent composition of metals, they can only burn the tiny bits in a crystal, dissolving (or digesting) just it. If the actual composition was discovered (and hence larger samples of the metal), they would be called Eaters for obvious reasons. (Not the same as a Subsumer) Ferring ability- Store ability to look Terris. Useful for disguises, but you have to have a giant arm bracelet to sustain the illusion for more than ten seconds. You look less Terris when you store, so you look like a very non-Ferring. Gallium (hope no one's already done it) - Makes you really sticky, so you can palm a basketball with zero effort. Also useful if climbing cliffs and scared of falling. Ferring ability- Stores hops. Like Pewter, but only in your legs. If you tap excessively and jump 30 feet, be sure not to twist about -- remember, it only strengthens your legs, so land on them, not your face.

I had a horrible realization. Once Shallan becomes more comfortable with having two identities, she might date Kaladin as Veil, ending in a You've Got Mail kind of romance, with her eventually running out of Stormlight, Kaladin learning it's Shallan, and them either breaking up, or getting together and pushing Adolin out of the picture until his perspective book. I don't want this to happen at all. Too much stuff happening for the love square to take up valuable pages.

When it was destroyed, everything changed. Finished the book, burning it now. Dying seemed much cooler before now. Aiming the scope at a planet... What if I used three words? Wait, stop! NO! Oops. Wrong wire. Get out now! Explosion estimated in... Evacuation failed. Noob

There are a couple of necessities for making a Way of Kings movie: First, realize that Mistborn has a way easier setup for movie adaptation (you don't even have to change the function of the metals; just have some sort of sound play when someone starts burning, like a soft cymbal crash-sounding thing that you could use when going into slow motion) Second, either have Kaladin's story arc occur sequentially, or have his flashbacks occur during keywords or phrases ( i.e. when applying infield medical care to bridgemen, "How do you heal them so well?" Kaladin-"I wasn't always a soldier"- initiate flashback of training with his father /// in slave wagon or chasms "So how did a man like you become a slave?" Kaladin-"Lighteyes don't like it very much when you refuse their gifts" - initiate flashback of fighting with army and shardbearer and aftermath /// etc.) Thirdly, realize that to adapt high fantasy into movies, you need it to be a freakishly long movie, or have an 'extended edition' released for dedicated, confused, or buy-everything fans like LOTR did. Fourth, realize that MISTBORN DOES HAVE THE BEST ADAPTABILITY for movies. Fifth:???? Sixth: profit If they follow those four steps the movie will turn out great for first-time watchers, and maybe even for people who have read the books.

wait! how did a kandra survive being buried for days?
Walin replied to king of nowhere's topic in Mistborn
Maybe she had that bodyguard that's that was on her side come and poke a straw through the ground. Disguise it as a flower in an urn -
Fastflooders: Transformation and Abrasion. They turn everything into water and flood everything. Folklore states they are actually Voidbringers. This is debated among the Fake Radiants. Glitchspeeders: Transportation and Abrasion. Known to clip through stone as they transport to Shadesmar and back. They have races to see who can get to Urithiru and back (and back and back) the fastest using just one pound of Stormlight (not gemstone, pure Stormlight) Stormlight does not heal wounded pride if they get stuck in a wall coming back into the Physical Realm. (this suggestion courtesy of my brother) Partypartiers: Transformation and Gravitation. Turn everything into confetti and use Gravitation to make all the amps and other party equipment easy to transport. They use Stormlight primarily to heal their eardrums after getting blasted with horrible dubstep of their own making.

Haircutters: use Gravitation and Cohesion to sculpt hair perfectly with Shardscissors. Also known as great landscapers. They won't rent out their Shardmowers though. Snowremovers: use Abrasion and Gravitation to help make snow removal easier, and also get other Radiant's cars out of the snow. Demolitionmakers Recycleusers: Use Division and Transformation to recycle old buildings- destroy them and turn them into other materials. Thoughtthinkers: Transportation and Cohesion. They go to the Cognitive Realm (using Transportation) to think harder and use Cohesion to make their thoughts more cohesive. Considered a joke (or, more of a joke) by the other Fake Radiants.

After looking back through the end of WoR, I noticed something odd. I know that there's one Interlude that happened in the Purelake, but it doesn't suggest at all that could happen. Any evidence or theories?
