Oh...whoops. I lost track of time the past couple days and kept thinking I would return to the thread in time to participate before rollover, and just opened the thread for the first time to see that we won. Yeah, that's my bad. I should have been way more active than I was. Maybe I'll do Walin justice next Mistborn first-trilogy game, if I'm free to participate then! Intended to brush up by reading his chapter for better RP, but my copy of The Final Empire is back at my parents' house and I forgot to go to the library to check out another copy. Good game, everyone, the deck was stacked against you.
-
Hmmm. Well, I’m still busy and I forgot to check the thread, but this doesn’t bode well for the village. In payment for posting without analysis or even RP, I’ll roleclaim as Thug. And then try to fit my analysis/RP in during the day cycle.
-
I'm not going to vote yet this turn, still reading through the remainder of Night 1 and trying to piece things together from the entire game so far. From just Day 1, I still don't have any suspicion towards anyone; while I'm happy to have *an* execution I didn't want to be the deciding vote. Catching up on a few other things outside of SE so I'll be back...in about 16 hours. Possibly sooner, but that's my forecast for when I'll rejoin the thread with a vote. As for PM's, I'll be active all night. Though I'm only in two right now, so that will be rather easy.
-
...huh. I could move a vote onto myself leaving us with a five-way tie, and I really don't want to be the tie-breaker. However, that would assume a bit of personal risk that I don't want to go through with. For the moment (and it may well be the last action I take this Day cycle considering how little time is left before rollover) I'll remove my vote on |TJ|. Sorry, Biplet. I'm not taking tiebreaker yet either.

Walin had survived through so much to get here. So…much. After the Pits of Hathsin were destroyed, he was in a daze. Food was scarce in the Pits, but it did exist, and outside the necessities of life were less of a guarantee. The two greatest boons were fewer beatings and executions. It still didn’t find him a place to sleep or something to eat. He didn’t know the streets well enough to barter away his bead of atium for a fair price. After days of starvation, he sold it for a place to sleep for a week. The irony of bartering such a treasure for no greater than he would ordinarily receive was not lost on him. But it was enough to get him on his feet. Bartering and scavenging for months, making deals when he could and fleeing when he had to, Walin found himself in a shelter enduring another systemic collapse. How funny it was, that he thought the Pits were the worst it could get. Of course, they were, for him personally, but now the world was at stake. That had to count for more. ——————————————— Uhhh I vote TJ. Bandwagon time. Sorry to do this to you D1.

Huh. You know, given the timeline placement of this game, I could conceivably play as my namesake. I've never roleplayed as the one-chapter character named Walin; I had just picked his name as my username because it was a one-off name from the books. You know what, I'll try it. I'll try and roleplay as Walin for this game.

MR71: Conclusion: The Closing Ceremonies
Walin replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks for the game! It was a lot of fun. I haven't played SE in a while, and this was a good one to come back to. ...I really thought that I would be active this time around, but my time management skills still have not improved whatsoever. Old habits die hard. Anyway, it was a lot of fun seeing the writeups and hanging out in the team doc. Last place wasn't so bad!- 23 replies

Time to hop in for my first game in...wow, almost two years. That's the last time I even posted on 17th Shard, too. Gonna pick the name "Brennan" since I imagine this is following Dreamer canon, I'd probably have a non-fantasy name and I only know English names off the top of my head.

Wait, Braize went kablooey? Alright, I’ll read the other cycles. Also, joining a hammer is both e!me and v!me behavior. Especially considering that in that first hammer, I voted out TWW who was Hoid. I’m playing by the seat of my pants right now, everyone. Or, was. I’m going to read the rest of the rules and cycles and maybe get caught up enough to contribute. Just to repeat my reasoning that’s I’ve checked the rules for—if there’s 7 alive players and 5 Avatars plus Bavadin right now, then a death of two non-Avatars means Autonomy wins. I don’t see how erasing the last Hoidite is a higher priority than reducing the number of Avatars. Now that I know Braize is gone I don’t have any plans and likely may not be very helpful from here on out, but me dying seems less productive than going after an Avatar. Me being Bavadin is a much scarier alternative, and I’d understand if you go after me for that, but I don’t get going after me for being a Hoidite. ————— Trukal had some oatmeal.* ————— *Trukal is not an exact representation of me and my actions during the game. I did not have oatmeal.

Weeeellllppp. Trying to go for the train is a tried technique of mine but in this case not a true one. I can’t remember the last time it did work, anyway. Also TJ, I’m not a Hoidite, if you’re basing that conclusion off my last post. Looking at the roles I don’t really know what the Hoidites can do right now, and removing the Avatar almost-majority seems like a much higher priority. I’m going for a charge tonight (I have 2 with me), worldhopping to Braize, and killing an Avatar, if uninterrupted. I haven’t been following the game closely but that seems pretty cut and dry to me. As far as I can tell it will be easy to get a Researcher win once the Avatars are taken care of. I haven’t looked at either Odium’s or Ruin’s win conditions but Drake seems to want to give up his shard, so that just leaves Ruin that I need to brush up on, and Autonomy appears (to me) to be a clear population-threat. I’m going to go read over the relevant rules sections tomorrow and get back to you. I’ve got time tomorrow to go over the threads as well but I can’t guarantee that I’ll do that. ———————— Trukal awoke sleeping in a cot. This was a guest room in Silverlight, it seemed; had he wandered so far from his sleeping quarters that he just fell asleep in a random abandoned room? No, as he awoke he realized this was deliberate. Continuing to avoid any way he could be tracked or betrayed, discussing with other researchers over the Coppernet or in groups. Yet another researcher had been killed because of a disagreement on guilt. Well, now that he was up, it was time to do some research.

Oof I’m sliding in under the bell, sorry everyone I’ll add on the train on Araris to counter any Avatars, but I’m really surprised no one’s been going for them the last couple cycles. Hoid needed to get all 16 Shards and wasn’t even close. If we lose one more villager after this we may lose to Autonomy. ——— Trukal got rollover’ed and did not do anything interesting.

Yeah I’ll go for an Endowment breach! I…don’t think I’m thinking of the same player to revive that you are. But anyway best of luck to getting it if E breaks out. ——— Trukal joined another group chat to vote, this time hopefully better informed. They were going to attempt to breach the Endowment shard.

I guess I’ll vote Wizard because of the train rn. I don’t have time to check for what I should actually do. But I was asked to vote and I said I would, so here it is. ——— Trukal sent a message within the system. He didn’t know what or who the researchers were talking about, but a standard “I agree” should cover his bases for a few minutes while he got his bearings.

I'll join in on the game again tomorrow. Still very busy today. -------------------- Trukal made a quick phone call. "Oh, and how is Lorn Haemtes? To shreds, you say. Well..." The conversation continued after that point, but the first few moments were a good indicator of how it would go. Some condolences, some bafflement (silently kept in), and some overall disappointment that now would be a bad time to ask about that zincmind medallion he had lent the man. Well, as far as personal survival went, he would probably be alright just having wakefulness available.

Yeah a summary would help, especially considering the other inactives! But I still probably won't be on here for long enough at a time to make a difference until my exam is over so don't worry about it in my case; maybe for the others, if they start entering the game again.

Alright, so I should be more active now...but I have my class final in two days and I didn't anticipate how much I would be trying to put off studying for it. I'll be mostly gone for the next two days, just skimming and barely reacting to what's in thread. I can spit out a bunch of word salad, but reading and retaining anything coherent from threads will be near-impossible for me--and that's just in general, but it's worse if I'm only skimming like I will be for the next two days. All I remember now is that Fifth was the something-shooter, Mat died going into this cycle, and something about Fadran being distanced? Anyway, Kasimir asked me and other lurkers for an action schedule so here's mine. Stillll on Silverlight. I don't know of anyone on the same world as me and I don't think I'd gain anything from using the charges anyway, so I'll hold onto them until further notice. --------------- Trukal stored wakefulness for a few hours in a pocket medallion. He was likely to need all the focus he could get in the coming days. Now, one might say that he should be staying awake at this point -- his mortal danger had never been higher. But Trukal didn't actually have a wakefulness stockpile at the moment, and he had a rare moment of downtime in which he didn't have to watch his back for researchers or Shards deciding to put a hold on his current state of being alive.

I don’t have anything to say, really, since I committed to read through previous posts but have not actually done that yet. Also, I’ll be busy for the rest of tomorrow so I’ll probably not post in-thread. But I will confirm I’m on Silverlight, if that helps any factions make decisions about whether to kill me or otherwise take an action. —————— Trukal sipped on an algae smoothie, cultures from the Elantrian moss on Sel. It supposedly increased ability to process foreign Investiture, much like how certain intestinal bacteria were responsible for breaking down given foods. He was still coming down from the headaches from the lab incident earlier, and suspected he might soon be exposed to Stormlight or another Investiture that chose to disagree with his biology. He had talked to another researcher a few hours ago, but the details of the conversation slipped his mind. All he knew was that it wasn’t relevant to the situation about the Shards, so he could file it away in a copper ring for later. He couldn’t spare the trouble to try and remember that manually even if it was personally important, because he had to first be alive to respond to it.

Cough. I completely forgot to put in an action, and I haven't yet caught up on the thread. I'll do that soon enough, but for now I also have some other stuff to do today so it'll probably be after rollover. ---------------- Trukal learned the basics of juggling two roughly spherical objects while he considered his next move. It turned out that this was harder than it seemed at first glance, but that it lent itself well to transitioning to three objects. He was probably going to die before getting around to three, but a man might as well try.

Alright! I’m happy to be here! I don’t think I’ve participated in a Shard game before, so this is going to be fun. And not only that, but since Drake Inferno didn’t have a character I get to bring in Trukal (I assume). I’ll be catching up on the last few cycles today; I don’t think I’ll have time for analysis but I’ll definitely at least submit an action, so you can work that into your theories. ——— Trukal came to after a particularly long hallucinatory walk around the halls of Silverlight. It appeared that he had inhaled the fumes from a Scadrian Investiture research lab. As soon as he felt steady, he resolved to tell them to properly ventilate their experiments. Come to think of it, why *were* they still experimenting at a time like…this…oh. The “hallucination” that multiple Shards had breached containment was actually true, and he was just now processing the implications. Games were afoot, it seemed, though he didn’t see how research into metallurgy and Feruchemy could possibly lead to a hidden faction’s benefit. Maybe those researchers were just really dedicated. And if his rapidly returning memories were correct, he had actually walked into the lab despite a “USE FILTRATED AIR” sign taped to it. They were following procedure, and he wasn’t. Trukal was zoning out when walking in and hadn’t registered the importance of the sign, and the researchers sent him out before he caused any damage to the equipment or himself in his haze. In the current situation, no one had the time to sit him down until he became lucid. It had been a full Rosharan day since Trukal had last been truly conscious. I’ll probably need some sleep, thought Trukal. I’ll be sure to do that as soon as I avoid dying to a rogue Shard in the next week.

I'll sign up as a pinch-hitter. In the unlikely event, if there are RP agreements with whoever I pinch-hit for or funky mechanics interactions, that I can replace their role but insert my own character, then I'll be pinch-hitting as Trulak. He's just a guy who's here to have fun, and also wield devastating power where he can find it. I'm happy to pinch-hit the normal way; I just wanted to have a character to put in the pre-game thread.

Long Game 94: The Call of the Forest of Hell

Sorry for the inactivity. I'll get back on later tonight, but for now I'll put in a vote for Mat since as far as I remember, my two candidates were Mat/Araris and one of those is dead now. ----- Jen did something that could possibly be construed as interesting. Long Game 94: The Call of the Forest of Hell
Walin replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I've got Iron Will, if that changes anything. Kind of disappointing that we didn't get an exe, but I get what everyone's saying. I don't exactly want to get killed tonight, but since I've got a bit of a Finger of Suspicion pointed my way I don't expect to be, anyway. I don't know if we have any remaining Coinshot roles rn but I'm fine with getting targeted since that should narrow down choices for potential elims significantly. ------- Jen tried not to trip over any roots. The ground was particularly gnarled right now, and she had heard stories of skinning hands on accident from falls. She didn't know if capillary bleeding counted as "blood" for the Shades, but it wasn't worth risking.- 1163 replies

Long Game 94: The Call of the Forest of Hell
Walin replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Man, every time I start a game I am baffled by how you all can make so many connections and keep track of them. I think I'm going to have to become literate in spreadsheets in order to try to mimic all that skill on my own. I just caught up on reading JNV's posts and any posts that mention JNV (just scrolled through every page while hitting ctrl-F for "jnv"); I don't really have anything to say. I'll just play parkour on and off the chariots until a bandwagon emerges and I can hop on that. (i.e. I'll just look at the read that I like the most and follow that one until there's a clear majority-winner read) So with that strategy in mind, I'll vote Mat even though he had good rebuttals for the arguments of e!him. Unfortunately, the arguments were better, and I judge them to have won over the rebuttals. ------------------- Jen woke up underneath a tree, a couple stones' throws off the main path. She had made it to her house, but it had clearly been broken into, so she only slept there one night before gathering some supplies and journeying for a bigger settlement. There were rumors of banditry in the area, but she hadn't expected it to reach her, far as she was from any settlements. She would have to find work, and buy laquer and silver to repair her protections. Hopefully soon, she would rest easy again. Well, as easy as anyone in the Forests could.- 1163 replies
