People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Well crap. I was supposed to kill the spiked dinosaurs a month ago. Apparently a few of them snuck through my death trap. -

Dissecting jackals is awesome! I was doing it last week in alley 542. Unless the jackals have been revived and over run that alley, they should still be dissecting them. -

We will, despite my current character not being a member, we will endure WITH SCIENCE!!! -
Welcome to the shard! Take a cookie and an upvote for the cool question! Now I'm not sure exactly what dominant hand he was born with, but at this point I'm pretty sure that he is ambidextrous. After living for a couple of millennia my guess is that he has been using both hands enough and is proficient enough to be considered left handed.

"Oh my gosh she is amazing at that!" He smiles sadly, "Its been far too long sense we've had some good Chaos here. The alleyverse was starting to make sense. We can't have that. I need to go visit the round about again, that place was good. But I have things that need to be done, constructs that need to be built, and suits that need to be worked on."

The Boundless Worlds- The final frontier
MacThorstenson replied to Ark1002's topic in The Alleyverse
Robert looked over at the completed installation. "That looks like everything guys. Lets head back to base now." Turning back to Ambrosia, he said "You guys may be seeing us around. The current plan is to find a few useless worlds and set up bases in there. Only a few though. I will talk with Mack about company policy in this area, but he mentioned making director of Operations in this area, so it looks like I will be in charge of our bases. If you guys ever need to, we will gladly provide a place to trade or a rest stop." With that said, he and the other guys pulled out discs with Aon Tia's on them, and tapped the Aons, and disappeared in flashes of light. -
The Boundless Worlds- The final frontier

Robert looks up. "Thank you! Would you be the leader of the explorers guild?" Without waiting for a response he turned around and looked at the other guys who had finished the calculations and sent them back to HQ. "We're good boss!" "OK," Robert yelled back. Turning to Ambrosia he said, "The boxes will becoming in soon, where do you want them installed? Also, Mack had a few questions about whats needed to explore this place, so he knows what protections to stick on the satellites." Just then, a flash occurred, and a large box and 3 smaller ones appeared in the center. "The Large box has the Big machine, one of the small ones has your helmet, another has a few operating manuals and other papers for if you need them. The last has a dozen tablets that have the map. The satellites will be coming in tomorrow. Is it ok if we launch them from here?" @Ark1002 -
The Boundless Worlds- The final frontier
MacThorstenson replied to Ark1002's topic in The Alleyverse
Suddenly, with a bright flash of light, 6 craftsmen appear in the middle of the Explorers base. Their leader, Robert, starts searching around for anyone nearby to talk too about the delivery, while the other five start making a landing zone to teleport the machinery onto. Looking around, he couldn't find anyone here, so he decided to wait until someone came back before bringing in the materials. @Ark1002 @Inklingspren -

Hmmm, well he does have good taste. And is a scholar and inventor as well. He looks promising. "How about me? Lets see, bout 450 or 500 years ago I was born in arelon, and soon after taken by the shaod. I could never draw aons by hand, couldn't keep them steady enough, but I could engrave them, and understood the theory better then everyone, so I turned to inventing and writing aon programs. Started a little shop, the craftsmen, you may have heard of us. I've grown and learned a lot sense then, traveled to the different planets and different universes, briefly entered the DA while possessed, and entered business to build my little shop, but at my core, I'm still a boy who likes to draw aon programs." Just then, Mack saw the mans spikes on his arm. Ooh, I like him. "Yep, just an inventor from elantris." He paused to think, then made his pitch, "Ya know, while I know a lot about different magic systems, I don't have a Rithmatist on hand, I could use someone of your talents. Would you be interested? We have as many resources as you need to experiment and build what you want. And are basically the most advanced guild out there." He slid the flask back toward the man, "You can keep the egg nog." As he finished, he was hit in the head by an organ. Confused and angrey, he turned around to find his old friend @LopenTheTwoArmedHerdazian. "My gosh its been ages! How are you?"

The clerk walks back into the room, with a modified wristwatch. Seeing that the man was gone, he wrote out a note and stuck it on the lockbox in the wall with a slot to insert money. He put the watch inside of the lockbox. He then walked back to the counter and sat down. The note read: "It takes the hand exactly three seconds to go all the way around the circle. Don't worry about how we keep it that way. If you want, we can explain it, but honestly its really boring. Just insert 50 crysts into the lockbox, like a vending machine, and it will open." @Gancho Libre The clerk accepted the paper. "This should work great, we will teleport it into the center here tomorrow, whenever we can manage. Thank you for the business." He grabbed the helmet and the note and walked to the door, opening it for the Explorer. @Ark1002
-
@Ark1002 "Ok then. How can we contact you to deliver the materials. We can teleport them to the entrance to the boundless realms, or if you give us details about your location, directly to your ship or base or whatever you use." @Gancho Libre "Give me half an hour. I will have that watch for you. That will be about, 50 crysts."

The clerks eyes shot up at that offer. 50/50? That’s incredible! But Mack’s paper had said that he didn’t want too much territory to maintain, barely any at all if that could be managed. He said max he was willing to take was one out of every ten. “Well, uh thank you for the generous offer, but we don’t actually want that much territory there’s not a whole lot we can do with it anyway, I was instructed to negotiate for one out of ten, and nothing more. How does that work?” @Ark1002
-
@Ark1002 "We can have it fully operational in a week, we can have the actual devices to you tomorrow, the helmet, tablet etc, but the satellite's will take longer to set up and position. We can get about 3 out per day, so in 2 days we will have the bones of the system ready. In 3 or 4 the accuracy will be much better, and faster. In a week, all the devices will be out." Suddenly, the wall beeped, and a paper flew out. The clerk picked it up and read it. "As for payment, the boss wants 'claiming rights?' something about being able to claim worlds that he discovers. is that all right?"
-
@Ark1002 "Yes we can install an HUD on your helmet. We will also make a variety of modes for viewing the map in your helmet for any situation, so to recap, you want one big holographic map, one tablet sized one, and a HUD in your helmet conveying the same information. I'll put in the order now, so the boss can size it up for a price." He walks over to the wall, writes the request on a piece of paper and slips it into the wall.

The clerk turned around and grinned, “Oh, we do deliveries all right. Best part of the job. I’ll tell Mack you said thanks three times. And we will see you in a few of days.” @Cyanic
-
@Cyanic “Yes I know the way. Now, I also need to get going. It’s been an hour without eggnog, I can barely function. Also, I have work I need to attend to. Bill will lead you out.” With that, he tapped a Tia on the wall, and disappeared in a flash of light. The two clerks sat there confused, “Which one of us did he want to lead her out? I’m not named bill, are you?” The other shook his head. “It doesn’t matter, I’ll take her out.” With that he opened the door and led the girl to the front entrance.

“Hmm, let’s see. I’m imagining a day for blueprint making, and logistics. Then a day for combining the shard plate with the other things. A third day for the awakener to awaken the skeleton, and assemble it in an efficient way. That same day we can start on the Aon shields. During all of this we can be assembling the outer layer of aluminum and steel, and on the 5th day, we will put the finishing touches. Somewhere in there we will reverse engineer the helmet and use its components to crest a hud. So I’m thinking 5 or 6 days. In actuality maybe 3-4, because I can use allomancy and time bubbles to speed it up.” @Cyanic @Gancho Libre A clerk sat at the desk, enjoying a peaceful day when someone had the idea to teleport into the craftsmen base, telling something about a watch. The clerk scribbles in a span reed that someone teleported into the base. That shouldn’t be possible, boss may need to check up on those defenses. With that done he turned to the customer and asked a few questions. “does it need to be a fabrial watch? And what do you mean by count every three seconds? Does that mean that it’s a stop watch set for three seconds? Or just a watch that makes a sound everythree seconds?”

"Wait a minute here. I said that our time would be free of charge because of the blueprints. I still need the chaos marine tech in order to finance the breaths and the aluminum. I can't afford that big of a loss. In addition I need to bring in an awakener to construct the skeleton. So we can fund the shardplate and the rest of the materials, but we need the chaos marine stuff to sell for aluminum, and breaths. But depending on how much it is specifically, I may not need too much of it." @Cyanic

"Yes, that's what I meant by the first layer of aonic shielding. Though I wont be engraving them directly into the shardplate, because that can reduce the structural integrity. Ok on the fog machine, though the extra weight may be cumbersome, I'll make a quick release if needed. As for the HUD, if you are using lifeless, will they have the intelligence necessary to operate one? I was under the impression that they aren't the most intelligent of creatures. The blueprints will remain with the craftsmen. I wager that there is no safer place to keep information in the alleyverse anyway. As fro what we will use them for, well, I've been working on a little project of my own. Have you been through the fourth wall to the OG earth? It doesn't matter. Anyway, they have this idea of a guy who had really advanced weaponized suits. I want to create one. This is the Mark 1, that I'm making for you. I will improve the design over the years until I get something amazing. None of this will be sold to any other group. As for the Chaos Marines, forgive me, I'm not too familiar with them, but from what I have heard they have very good tech. What exactly are we talking about in terms of numbers here, and how do their suits differ from normal space marines? Also, is it only the marines, or do they have other stuff. If that is the case, then it should be plenty and cover the cost of this. My men can probably handle the transportation. Where is the stuff?" @Cyanic Arriving at a door, the crafstman pushed a button, and opened the door. "Ok, so if I am correct, you will want a 3d map, because this sounds like more than a 2d map. Now, we will be able to do this for the big one, and the tablet. They will be huge, holographic displays, constantly updating from a series of satellites. The one inserted into your head will be more difficult. We don't have any way to merge technology with your brain. if you have built in cyber components already, we could design something to interface with them, but until then, we can't do anything.''

Mack carefully eyed the man who sat down at the counter. He looked like a scholar, and could be just what Mack needed. But first he needed to see if he was a heretic. Everything hinged on that. Turning back to the soon to be heretic, Mack realized he couldn't stop him, the shear amount of powers that that man had exhibited earlier was insane. If only he had the rods from god, then he could make a difference. Maybe. But they wouldn't let him use his 4th best weapon. Or his first, or his second, or his third. The exact rankings were up to debate, but nonetheless, he couldn't use his best stuff. And he had sworn an oath never to kill with that wand again, so he couldn't use that. Gah, he hated it when he was powerless. All he could do was wait. Edit: Tired of waiting, Mac did the unthinkable. He decided to share his emergency egg nog with the fella. Reaching into his robe, he pulled out an insulated flask and said, "Here, I noticed you wanted some egg nog. The service here takes forever. And you can keep your money." Glancing down at the mans notes, he asked him "So, if you don't mind, what are you working on?" @MetaTerminal

"hmmm. Ok. It may be difficult, because I would assume that its investiture based, but I don't know how investiture based it is, or what type of investiture. Wait, is this from the hall of legends card thingy, in the pocket of that one fellows statue? Some people were running around making a big fuss about that. Anyway, if you may not have access to the Dor, then you are right, you will need adaptability. So I will include a lot of augmenter fabrials. You are correct in saying that surgebinders couldn't steal the stormlight through the aluminum coating, Though my concerns were more about gemstones leaking stormlight. But it is really the only option if you don't have the Dor, so we will use it. The aluminum shells around the gemstones wouldn't allow investiture to leave the gemstones, which I believe would prevent the fabrial from working, so we can't include those. We can't engrave Aons in the Aluminum, they don't work. What I was thinking instead, is take plastic or crystal, some non metal thing, and engrave shield aons on that, and stick it on top of the outer layer of aluminum, it leaves them vulnerable, but there has to be some way for the investiture to get through the outer aluminum shell. The fog machine its self is easy to incorporate, though depending on how much you want it protected it could be an issue. What I'm imagining right now for a preliminary design, is a shardplate, with all of the components attached to that, ichor alcohol system, tech spine, awakened skeleton, etc. On top of that layer would be Aonic shields. The next layer would be a layer of steel. Steel, so it can be structurally sound. There would be connections between the shardplate and a layer of steel, and the outside of the steel is coated in aluminum. The steel has a ton of augmenting fabrials, as will the shard plate. On the back of this layer will rest the fog machine, and possibly the ichor-alcohol pump on the inside, depending on how big the pump is. On top of the aluminum, there will be a variety of plastic plates, with aonic shields engraved. Im also going to awaken quite a few tassles of cloth, their purpose will be to block weaponry when the aon shields are down. The fog machine will be normal by the way, Im going to stay away from using aons. I will incorporate a battery that is charged with Aons. This way you will have enough power to run the suit when you don't have access to the Dor. The battery will also power an interactive HUD, that I can incorporate, but maybe not with the necklace. I'll see. As for getting it on and off, It will be like removing a dead piece of shardplate. Summoning it like that a living piece will be nigh on impossible with out some serious assistance from shards. As for pricing. Gosh, this will be expensive. So long as we keep the blueprints for any and all components used, we won't charge you for our time. But buying the breaths will be expensive, and the aluminum. I'm thinking 10K chrysts should be sufficient. What do you think?" A clerk sat, spinning a pencil between his fingers, when another customer walked in. "Hello, I'm going to need your help. I need a device that can monitor the Boundless Worlds, like a constantly changing map. I would prefer it wasn't electronic, so that it won't run out of battery. Can you do this?" What? boundless worlds? This is an unusual request. Aloud, he said "Yes, right this way please. If you don't mind me asking, what are the boundless worlds? Where are they? And do they have access to the Dor?" He was already putting together a system of Dor powered satellites, essentially a GPS system, and possibly a 3d star map to display the information, also Dor powered. "You see, the Master Craftsman recently discovered an Aon program that can create electricity, so assuming it has access to the Dor, we can power it using that" @Ark1002
