Looking at Fred, Mac thought about what he said. "I think it depends on what change this will be making, what investiture change and how similar it is to the original person. But that's for later." He took the spike from Laurelai and walked over to the man. This was an extremely small change, it could possibly even take place with a normal stamp. All it was doing was changing the location of his birth and where he was raised. Likely, this wouldn't change anything physical, but It would change his memories and language at the least. If it stuck. Mac started tapping fortune and burning atium to find the right bind point. This was tricky. Because the stamp should take affect no matter where it was placed, but it would work better if it was placed on the relevant part of the spirit web. He carefully placed the spike over the body and grabbed the hammer. With a single WHACK! it was embedded in the mans body and soul. Perfect placement. Only thing left was to see if it worked. "Lets wake this man up, and see if it worked." He looked at one of his lab assistants. "Does someone have progression here? I don't want to wait for the sedation to wear off." He looked at Aaric. "We hopefully won't need to spike an Azish man, because we aren't taking someones soul and putting over this mans. What we are doing is creating an alternate history for the man, and stapling it onto his soul with the essence spike." "Kotiel, can you get me a progression spike from the cabinet?"

Mac walked into the Lab, stepping over the corpse on the ground. Gosh, he hadn't been in one of these in what? 90-100 years? He missed the smell of science. He waved a few acolytes over to clear out the bodies and started prepping the experiment. Today he was looking at Soulspikes, how Forgery and Hemalurgy could be combined. He was thinking that the permanency of Hemalurgy was going to allow for much greater variation in terms of what was usable in terms of stamps. The new history that stamps provided had to have a certain similarity to the original history, otherwise they wouldn't take. With hemalurgy though, this could be circumvented. Hopefully. If not, well, they always had more test subjects. Once the bodies were out, it was time to start experimenting. "Laurelai, can you come over here and start readying the first stamps?" He pointed to an acolyte in the corner. "Bring in subject number one. And make sure he's sedated!" Turning back to the recorder he said "This is Trial #1. We will be doing a small change, with an essence spike and a essence mark. We will be changing the ethnicity of a man. Instead of him being from Alethkar, he is from Azir. What do you think?" He turned to his lab assistants, @EddyJ @Voidus @Badadah @kenod

I've noticed that some users have different fonts in there signatures. Is that from a past update where you could change fonts? Because I'm not finding any settings to change it. I've also noticed this occasionally happening in posts as well.

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley

Patience, I can't give you the role, but we don't let just anyone become a DA department head. You still need your loyalty spikes. -
What madness is this. No we shouldn’t kill them. We need to convert them.

Wait what’s happening? quick summary please.

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
I guess you would become a denizen. We don’t really have a whole lot of organization in terms of ranks and the such, so if you are looking to climb the ranks, that may be difficult in the DA. -

I mean, we already have ark and TFA in our most secure PM. We aren't really all that concerned with secrecy. So your in. No oath necessary, all you need to do is offer someone a cookie in the intro threads, once you do that you will become an official denizen of the Dark alley. Also, you would need two spikes to get both of those traits. The chirping would come with one spike, probably, and same with the long jumping. -
Quick question, does your matter manipulation apply to living people?

MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Please, I haven't had morals in at least 100 years. Once you spike them out life gets so much more convenient. Also, @Kaladin78 the cookie doesn't necessarily have allomatic steal, but even if it did, you would get boosted allomatic steel. -

MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Yes they do. The cookie we gave you should have given you something. Probably. I took it out of a mixed bag, so it could have had allomatic steel, or it could have had the ability to chirp like a cricket. Or something completely random. -
Mac felt the islands start to drop, and realized that Dwig would kill everyone on the islands, and cause there to be more damage then Mac caused. Storm it. I have to be the good guy. Quickly, Mac warped the entire thing a few miles into the air to buy him some time. as they fell, Mac set to work, warping the islands into the ocean while preserving all the egg nog and lives he could. Once the islands were disposed of, he used a small weave of air to slow everyone's descent, then carefully warped the people to the ground so that they wouldn't die on impact. Some people he was more careful with then others.

"With all due respect, you know nothing of our power if you think it comes solely from Alleymatics. Alleymatics are a convenient party trick that only work in the alleyverse. We manage and coordinate our business and labs throughout millions of multiverses. How exactly could we do that if we relied on alleymatics? But we are getting off point. The point, is that the benefit of signing the document doesn't outweigh the cost. Until that is rectified, I don't see why we need to continue talking. Make changes, do whatever you need to. But until I see something being given that we want, I'm not signing this document for the Department of Counter Intelligence."

"I know you have morals. And I think that those are pesky things that get in the way of science. I spiked mine out years ago. Besides, I'm gathering that what you declare to constitute a moral need to interfere could conflict with what I want to do. So I want rules in place so I can know where to expect your intervention and when not expect it. That is the only way that I'll be signing this document. The thing is, the only benefit for us that you are providing is an early warning before you make more fiends. But the DA can take you no matter how many fiends you throw against us. We could destroy you even if you order an orbital bombardment. I could have destroyed your fiend in a heart beat, but I didn't cuz I'm a nice guy. The other guys have more power, and less restraint than I do. As of now, the benefit isn't really worth having us bound by anything."

It really is. Ya know, being on the council was kinda fun. You got to see so many secrets, and in a way its kind of cool to be part of such a structured guild. Gotta say tho, watching the entire thing when we exposed y'all was really fun.
