@Million Storms If you want to join the dark alley, make a post in the thread, and we will explain more to you.

Surgebinders and Allomancers, may I present...
MacThorstenson replied to Slackery's topic in Introduce Yourself!
I can vouch for this cookie. It is made in one of the best Bakery's in town. -
Also one more quick etiquette point, try to avoid double posting, its generally frowned upon.

Actually, if you had noticed my secret drawing, you would have seen that I keep my cookies and my spikes completely separate*. *DA Disclaimer applies.

Keep in mind, there are multiple types of allomancers and feruchemers, but any hemalurgist can become a mistborn and a full feruchemist. The only possbible better scenario would be a feruchmist with a bead of learasium, because then you would have the voices.

My cookies are completely normal, I'm not too sure about other bakeries, but mine are fine. Here try one!!

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Aha, I have made a break through in my quest to disguise a soul through hemalurgy! I discovered the existence of small sDNA sequences that are concerned with the appearance of various abilities, but don't contain the actual ability. We used to consider the genes for various powers as one big thing, but in reality they are made of of much smaller sequences, much more similar to a physical DNA then we thought. For example the spiritual gene that confers the ability to burn pewter, is made of two parts. The first, is the appearance of being able to burn pewter, I suspect it has to something to do with identity or connection of being a thug, the second is the actual ability to burn pewter. Using standard size spikes, we spike out the entire gene. Using spikes the size of needles, I can accurately spike out this portion of a soul, but leave the other part behind. After spiking someone with this attribute, in the spiritual realm it looks like this person has the ability to burn pewter, but they actually don't. My next step will be to figure out how to apply this to the entire soul, in one spike. -
Two thoughts. The first is that we know that ettmetal's reactivity is caused by the discord between the two shards power, preservation and ruin, feruchemy is also caused by a mix between the two shards power, so I think that its likely that ettmetal is able to steal any feruchemical ability. My second thought is that we know that using hemalurgy changes the physiology of a body, otherwise inquisitors would be dead. My thought is, would it be possible to Hemalurgically change your body to not need water at all, thus providing a water free environment for ettmetal to be burned?

We know from WoB that burning spikes, splices the sDNA on the spike with your sDNA, however the ramifications are unclear. We do know, that if you have a hemalurgic spike from something, you can access metalminds made by that someone, so if the person spiked was the one who created the metalmind, and was spiked with their metalmind, whoever received the spike could access the feruchemical stores in the spike, so long as they had the feruchemical power. I am unsure if the powers that he would store would be augmented. This is a very interesting theory, but I'm not sure if the three magic systems are connected like a triangle. Feruchemy and Allomacny work together, and Hemalurgy mixes them both together in different ways. It has been described as, stapling the sDNA of one person, onto another. The reason I say this, is because hemalurgy doesn't create anything new. It juts moves around different pieces of existing systems.

So is trying to affect something your not touching similar to trying to pierce a copper cloud in difficulty? -
THIS IS NOT AN "BAD" INSIDE JOKE. Our work pushes the bounds of Hemalurgy further every day, and will eventually encompass the entire world. Its not a bad inside joke, it is the future.

Welcome to the 17th shard, would you like a cookie, while we discuss the glorious science of hemalurgy?
-
Welcome to the 17th shard! Would you like a cookie? Some will lie and say that they are hemaurgicly spiked, but they are lying.
-
Welcome to the 17th shard. Would you like a delicious freshly baked cookie? P.S. others will say that this is hemalurgicly spiked, they are lying.

Welcome to the 17th shard @Million Storms, I Normally would try to offer your a cookie at this point, but they appear to have brought you into their grasp. Just know that if you ever want to advance science, come join the Dark Alley. Also a quick word of warning, posting multiple times in a row, like you did before, is considered bad here, so try to avoid it in the future. If you have more information to add, just edit your first post. Also @Cephandrius Everstorm, I will have you know that non of our spikes cookies, have corrupted investiture, all of it is 100% natural and meets the IFA, Invested Food Administration, requirements. What do you think we are, giving out Nightblood to random people? Also, we are not 100% sure about this, but we are pretty sure that Harmony is on our side, so saying things like, "oh Harmony!" isn't likely to help you.

They are liars. They don't want to lose any market share in the Baking market, so they try to destroy our reputation.

One last question, then I'll stop bothering you, how would someone improve their powers? Is it practice, like mistborn or white sand, or is it more knowledge based like hemalurgy, aons or forgery? -
Welcome to the 17th shard. Cookie for your thoughts, what do you think about hemalurgy?

MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
But how could we do that? Physically disguising them would work, but what if they are able to peer into the spiritual realm? For those of you who remember the essence spike, could we craft something similar, but instead of spiking a soul, just the image of a soul? Below is the Recording of the official discovering of the Essence Spike by a member of the Dark alley. Here is the link to the page where the post if found, if you want context. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/14879-people-you-wouldnt-want-to-meet-in-a-dark-alley/?page=21 -
No, I haven't given up on being subtle. We just don't need test subject customers right now as much as we originally thought. Right now, new denzines bakers are needed. Also we need to make sure that nobody expects the steel inquisition. If we do the same thing over and over again, people start to see us coming.

TimeWells: A Magic System Based on Time
MacThorstenson replied to GeneralHZRD's topic in Creator's Corner
Thanks for replying, one more thing, how fast can you transfer time? How fast could I transfer the 1 year through me, would it vary with skill level? How much slower would it be to transfer 1 year at a time, vs 10? -
Welcome to the 17th shard!! Tell me, do you have time to talk about our lord ruin, and the art of hemalurgy? If not, would free cookies persuade you?

TimeWells: A Magic System Based on Time
MacThorstenson replied to GeneralHZRD's topic in Creator's Corner
This is a really interesting magic system, I have 4 questions though, First, Would it be possible for someone to directly take energy from one thing and move it into another? I.E. lets say I want to kill someone. If I find an old rock, could I take, for example 100 years, and put it directly into the person, or would it pass through me first, possibly killing me, and then on to him? My second question is, if it does have to pass through you in the example above, would it affect me first before going onto another person and stop flowing if I die, or could I draw in 1000 years, and pass it on to him, with my body only dying when all of the time has passed through? My third question, is would "time wells" be possible, similar to a metalmind from mistborn, where I could keep some old things on me and use them as a reservoir of time for an undefined amount of time? My fourth question is, do objects leak time, similar to how stormlight does? If I were able to accumulate 10000 years in a pebble, assuming it would still be intact, would it leak this time, returning to its natural age? -
That is exactly the point of the DA. We have never cared about power, we only wanted to discover the limits of hemalurgy. Our scientists bakers, are devoted to the well being of our consumers, and if any harm would come to them, it is completely accidental*. Our goal is to use the knowledge gained, not for our own gain, but for the betterment of mankind**. *DA Disclaimer applies. **Mankind includes but is not limited to: Eldritch abominations, humanoids, any resulting Hemallurgic creatures, Shards and sentient investiture*.
