Louik grins, "Well, is actuality an interesting story, I was talking with a guy when I realized that he knew a guy who had been around the block a few times, in the process gained something that I absolutely had to have. I told my friend to talk to this guy so I could get it. We decided to exchange information for the item in the place where I sold my first cookie. My friend showed up late, the other guy came in on time but brought someone else. Somehow a third person got wind of this and came for more information and then the final guy, well I'm not sure about what happened with him. We ended up trying to exorcise him."
-
Looking hurt Louik pulls the plate back and starts eating a cookie, "So why are you here?" He mumble with crumbs falling out of his mouth. Edit: yes some of the cookies are hemalurgic, however most don't contain normal allomatic medals due to the fact that they were designed for subduing the bloodmaker that we came here to meet.

Realizing that this new man just appeared in the middle of them with a dramatic entrance was trying to disorient them and make them give him information, he did the only logical thing. "Welcome to Scadrial, How may I help you? Do you want a Cookie?" Louik smiled as he offered his plate of untouched cookies to the new stranger, completely ignoring the man crumpled in the staircase.

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Of course, the only requirement is that you need to make 1 sale in the introduction threads. -
The reason I am asking is because I stumbled across this WoB:
-
As an official member of the Dark Alley, I would like to say that the initial cookies don't actually give you any special powers. Those cookies are easily and harmlessly removed. If you decide to become a member, then we can divulge the recipes to you. You also don't have to kill anyone if you don't want to. Our bakers never make any products that are used to kill people purposefully without their consent* (accidents do occur occasionally, allergies and the such). Hemalurgic research generally involves killing, and so does spike production, but baking is relatively peaceful. Also our spikes are designed to be concealable, other wise how would we spike people make sales? *DA disclaimer applies.

I'm starting to see a lot of similarities between the 16 and Kelsiers crew. In Mistborn Ham asks a question about whether or not what they were doing was good, if god is the absolute morality and they are killing god.

Not the chocolate chips themselves no. -
Welcome to the 17th shard! I honestly have no Idea what the coolest user name I have seen is. My favorite cosmere book is probably Hero of the Ages, I love it because of how lore heavy it is, We learn a lot about the cosmere and the way magic works in it. As a welcoming gift from the Dark Alley, take a cookie and an reputation point!

[All Cosmere, OB] Intent: Origin and interpretation.

ok. -
Is Harmony counted as a shard that could be chosen? I know that there is a WoB that says that Brandon counts them as two shards.

Out of curiosity why would it have to be negative? My reasoning is that if Ruin were solely negative, there would need to be another shard, something similar to creation, which would represent the positive side of change. -

My thought is that Ruin would be the force of Change/creation. If you saw someone with this mentality picked up Ruin, they would create amazing things, but they would destroy them eventually. Similar to Ookla, the incalculable I think that Ati viewed Ruin solely as the force of decay, and not with the mindset that bad things could be ruined to create better things. -
Ruin. I view the shard of Ruin similarly to how Harmony does, as a necessary force of change in the universe. Having that power to both create and destroy would be amazing. Also, I get to control hemalurgy.

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
MacThorstenson replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Welcome to the Dark Alley. If you have already made a "sale" using one of our products you are officially a member. You are allowed to take up any empty lab you can find and begin hemalurgic research. As I said above, a black hole recently destroyed alley 63. The newly constructed version is completely empty if you would like to take up residency there. -
Maybe have the geographical location of where the wood is from have some impact on what you can do with it. Here's a few thoughts on some of the powers smoke could have: Like you said above, the smoke could transform into objects, swords, and the such. This would involve harder and faster, but not as long range telekinesis of smoke. A certain type of smoke can be used solely for concealment/observation. I.e. you could send out tendrils of smoke and "see" through them. Or you could gather a lot of smoke into a certain area to conceal your self. This would be much slower, and more natural. If you saw smoke in the air, you couldn't be sure if it was natural or unnatural.

Uhhhh. Im not sure if we should be discussing these on the intro threads, our competitors may use this opportunity to steal our recipes.

I like that Idea, but I'm not sure if it could be implemented. Most groups that are active don't actually recruit front up, and rely on stealth and tricking newcomers to join. Giving a background to your group would completely destroy the scheme. In fact, now that I'm Looking at it, I realize that the majority of posts aren't actually meant for recruiting, they just wan't people that they can trick into eating their foods. Personally, when I try to recruit people to the Dark Alley, as opposed to give them a cookie, I try to explain a little bit about what we are and what we are doing. Again though, not many people are actually recruiting these days.
-
*shrugs* I just gave you whatever I was eating at the moment.

If you want pewter cookies, stop by the DA, we have loads.

Nice, personally I enjoys the magic systems that Brandon comes up and how they interact. For that reason I love mistborn and its 3 magic systems. While I love the stormlight archive, we done know a lot about the different magic systems there and how they interact. Are you sure about the cookie? Its a really great offer.

Welcome to the 17th shard! Its always great when another person joins. Whats your favorite book? Also if you want a cookie, here one is!

I have a fear that the cookie wars have gone on too long and are wrecking the experience of new comers on the site. The intro threads have turned into a vicious battle field of recruitment, where people are flooded by devious posts to steal breath, have parts of their soul stolen, or fed pieces of investiture. I think that there needs to be a set of rules that the guilds follow in terms of recruitment on the intro threads so that the they can be used to introduce people to the website like they supposed to. People should be able to feel welcome on the site for what they contribute, and not just for their membership to your particular group. After thinking for a while, I though of a few guidelines that guilds could use to help make peoples entrance into the site more enjoyable. Here they are: Giving new people a reputation point if you try to recruit them. Making sure that you ask them a question about them, whether it be about what books they have read, or what their favorite character is, try to make them feel welcome on the site. If someone from at least two more guilds/groups has tried to recruit them, don't also post something trying to recruit them to a third place I would say that warning someone about the dangers of being in a specific group is fine, just don't make you post to their thread solely about how the other group is terrible try to follow the other bullet points above. Also, if your going to warn about how another group is trying to lie to them, don't use that as an opportunity to recruit them into your guild. I.e. Someone offers them a cookie, you reply with saying that they are trying to take your soul and they should try your completely safe investiture as an alternative. These points aren't supposed to be final, if anyone has anything that they want to add or discuss, please post something about it.
