  1. I think taking the Five Oaths grants you a permanent bond with the Plate. And remember that the Plate stopped glowing almost as soon as the Radiants gave it up.
  2. A slightly different way of thinking about it: When Kaladin speaks the Second Oath, he immediately gains greater control and power over the Stormlight. So deliberately choosing Honor allows him to draw more power from Syl. Logically, Honorable actions would also strengthen the bond to the Plate, drawing more power from/through it.
  3. Tin Allomancy and Chromnium Feruchemy would make an excellent sniper. uber-sight for targeting and luck for precise hitting. Relatedly, do you think a double Tin could compound eyesight enough to become a sort of human telescope? And have you even considered how useful a Double Zinc could be? Finally, some names: Double Gold: Deathless. Double Iron: Crusher
  4. One big weakness of Duralumin Feruchemy is that it cuts both ways. You gain a bond to everyone else just as they gain a bond to you.
  5. What do the three dots beneath my avatar mean?
  6. You may be right.
  7. Do we know for certain that Odium is a Shard? Maybe he's what caused Adonalsium to shatter in the first place.
  8. I've always wondered why in the world he didn't drop a lerasium bead or two to keep the mistborn around.
  9. Huh.
  10. Ok, that's worth an upvote.
  11. Good point, but somewhat frustrating for our present discussion.
  12. He specifically says that he'd never carry a bridge in one of his arguments with Sadeas.
  13. I see.
  14. Maybe cost is the wrong word, but the idea is that all the magics except AonDor use up some resource which limits how much you can use them. Allomancy is limited by how much metal you have, Feruchemy is limited by how much of yourself you can give up, Hemalurgy is limited by the supply of suitable victims, Awakening is limited by the available Breaths, Sugebinding is limited by the supply of Light.
  15. The only problem is that no Shardbearer would condescend to do something like carry bridges. Not even Dalinar.
  16. Something that just occurred to me: We all know how Allomancy can compound a Feruchemical attribute. When you burn the charged metal, the power coming in is converted into whatever was stored in the metalmind, instead of releasing the Allomantic charge. I was wondering whether this would work the same with Hemalurgy. For example, if Vin had swallowed and burned her earring for some reason, would she have temporarily gained her sister's Bronze power, ten times multiplied? Logically, it ought to be possible. The theory (Allomantic power altered by a pre-existing charge) is the same.
  17. I think this whole thread makes a lot of sense. Zinc makes your thoughts move faster, but those thoughts are still the same ones you would otherwise think.
  18. I have this, but even stronger. I once won twenty dollars for reading a whole book in under 20 minutes, and I read the whole of AoL in under an hour. my other powers include: Psionic Programming I can program my body to carry out tasks while my mind is off somewhere else. Permanent Visioning I automatically write fantasy stories in my head at almost all times. Literary Previews When I'm not thinking about anything in particular, I am treated to the mental equivalent of a bunch of movie previews. That is, I think/hear/imagine fragments of fantasy stories, each only a few seconds long, and with no obvious connection to each other. They seem to be the mental equivalent of those tiny scenes they show in movie previews. Social Blindness I have no sense whatsoever for the rules of social interaction.
  19. One point is that the Aons are both incredibly versatile and are the only magic with no direct cost. (Allomancy uses up metal, BioChroma is limited by the available Breath, etc.) I think the weakness of the unenhanced Aons is a counterbalance for these two factors.
  20. Marsh says when he spikes Penrod that there always has to be blood when you first implant someone with a spike, though not necessarily afterwards.
  21. Of course not. We know already that with sufficient practice you can vary the point on which you push at the anchor end. this is only specluation as to why you can't do the same to yourself.
  22. Alright, here is something kind of important. A lot of people seem to think that the Aons grow weaker the farther you get from Elantris, indefinitely. What i thought was that there was a minimum level of power that the Aons released on their own, and that this was how much power the Reod Aons (Aons drawn between Raoden's discovery of the Chasm Line and the fixing of Elantris) or the Aons Raoden drew in Teod had. Within a certain range of Elantris, the Aons gain extra power. So, in other words, you can use the Aons anywhere.
  23. Blood, Stone, and Smoke? What made you pick those three.
  24. Why not? It seems to me to be the same principle as fabrials, or the various kinds of Lenses.
