  1. Basically, the disagreement is over whether atium can be burned because it's a metal or because it's the incarnation of Ruin. Am I correct?
  2. I meant exactly what you said, that he hasn't noticed his spren yet (and it certainly isn't talking to him). BTW, I think he'll probably end up as a Metalborn (8th Order, primary attribute Resolute.) I say this because his two primary personality traits are leadership (1rst order) and determination (8th) and we already have a windrunner.
  3. I think a lot of that was lost in the Sunmaking.
  4. Look up Victoria Kasten at epicscrolls.com. She makes a point of writing exactly the kind of story you're asking for.
  5. Nope. Actually, they're from Inkwing.
  6. On this same topic, what do you suppose would happen if an Allomancer burned pure handwavium More seriously, atium is not a focus. Atium is a real fuel, unlike the other metals. In other words, burning pewter allows you to siphon off the power of Preservation. Burning atium releases a certain amount of Ruin. burning the Tears should release Endowment.
  7. Hi! +1 rep for a cut pic!
  8. I just added two more to the gallery.
  9. The idea is good, but why are you using so many capitals?
  10. Well, we know that Midnight Essence can be killed with a fireplace poker, of all things. And the ordinary bronze and stone weapons could presumably kill the Flesh elementals, plus any ordinary races that fought for odium (parshmen/evil humans). The Blades were given primarily to kill off thunderclasts and other such. Also, sheer logic suggests that the power invested in a creature is inversely proportionate to how many can be summoned. And for that matter, if you had enough mortals they could kill a thunderclast by smashing it to bits with sledgehammers.
  11. I think Dalinar simply isn't as far along as Kal. His spren hasn't manifested at all, for example. If my theory is correct, you have to reach a certain level of bonding before you can formalize it with the Oath. BTW, another point on the Ideals, better explained using Shallan as the example. When Shallan takes the Second Oath of Truth (the second ideal of her order), I think she will be always assumed to be acting truthfully, thus enabling her to Soulcast without having to reveal a new truth each time. Like the Second Oath locks the bond in the position that it goes to when she speaks a truth. Finally, something I just noticed. Kaldin's Second Oath binds him to "protect those who cannot protect themselves". Well, one of the Windrunner Attributes is protection.
  12. Please let me know when it's available!
  13. How do you sign up for this?
  14. Here's what I have so far: There were originally Ten Unmade, to counter the Ten Heralds. Given that one of them is named "Blightwind", it seems reasonable to guess that each Unmade is linked to a specific essence. Someone (not me) theorized that the Ten Fools are a folktale distortion of the Ten Unmade.
  15. And why would Harmony want to keep atium out of the world? Actually, that would be one of the things he would most want to keep in play. (preservation likes keeping things around and ruin likes atium.)
  16. So how do I pre-order it?
  17. Compounding more of an attribute just makes more of it, it doesn't alter its properties in any way. As you said, anything in the RPG is canon unless explicitly countermanded by first-order canon. If anything, it would be small amounts of Connection that cut one-way, since you who know what's happening might be able to ignore a lesser effect by sheer force of will.
  18. Several people (including me) have noted that there seems to be some connection between the Unmade and the Essences, putting the Unmade as anti-Heralds. My guess is that each Unmade can summon some form of monster connected to their element. So the 9th Unmade can summon thunderclasts, the second can summons Midnight Essence, etc. The parshendi have nothing to do with this paradigm, and are something else.
  19. You can't draw the Aons without the Shaod, but I think the delayed-action Aons (the ones that you need to touch or otherwise trigger) could be used by anyone. Or at the least, there's a way to make Aons that anybody can set off.
  20. It's in the RPG. The descriptions of tapping large amounts of Connection explicitly state that it cuts both ways. Deus Ex Biotica, on 09 February 2012 - 09:37 PM, said: A Feruchemical metalmind behaves exactly like any other Allomantic metal when burned, so Duralumin would set it off. In other words: burning duralumin while tapping a metalmind doesn't do anything, but burning regular Duralumin while burning a metalmind will. Zas678's Note- Don't double post, especially if it's only been two minutes. Use the Edit button at the bottom of you post if you forgot something.
  21. It was exactly the opposite for me. I first heard of WoT because Brandon announced he was going to finish it.
  22. That's a good question. What exactly does copper compounding do?
  23. He doesn't know why they're chasing him. He thinks they're still trying to catch him and then figure out what to do with him.
