  1. I'm pretty sure Engraving is a Splinter magic because it only works on stone. I'm guessing the Shard is Deception for a bunch of tiny reasons: 1. The magic tricks the stone into thinking it's from somewhere else. 2. Deception also sounds like a good shard to fuel Lightweaving. 3. Hoid's title is the Liar of Partinel. 4. Deception sounds like a Shard name. 5. This would give us a new Shard.
  2. My point exactly!
  3. Actually, he didn't say that there were no Seons before Odium's visit, he just said there were none during it.
  4. I have a thought. Perhaps the blade destroyed/freed the spren that were trapped in the soulcaster and that's why it won't work?
  5. More details have been released. Appearantly, if you carve a peice of stone with a certain rune, you cna trick it into thinking it's a different kind of stone, or it's cracked. But it only works on stones, which sounds like what you'd expect from a Splinter-based magic. Though, it could of course be an NSM.
  6. I have to disagree. Unless he's in one of his depressed moods, i think he looks way too serious.
  7. For defense against a Surgebinder: A safe-room with a long corridor leading to it, both lit only by torches. Put a squad of archers and spearmen in fornt of the door. He'll drain his reserves of Light getting through to you, and not be able to replenish
  8. No, Alcatraz pointed out that "girls" is the correct term for a mixed male and female group, as it used to refer to children of both genders.
  9. I'm betting that there is a splintered Shard called Deception. One such splinter fuels Brandon's new forgery-based magic, and another fuels Lightweaving.

    Idea

I did set up an account. I still can't do anything.
  11. Interestingly, the two views have very differnt connotations. The first line, on it's own, suggests sun worship, perhaps in the Buhddist or Chinese style. The first paragraph gives more of a sci-fi connotation, though i hope we find out what is going on soon.
  12. Upvote for explaining why the gem matters for Soulcasting but not Windrunning! Further implications: With the whole Fabrials-Surgebinders parallel, this would imply that any fabrial that replicates Windrunner powers would have to be based on a sapphire. This is definitely worthy of becoming a full article on its own.
  13. What about Confusion/Nonsense? That should make for an interesting magic!
  14. Is Aaron going to end up in Mawsbeck anytime soon? Because if not, i have some plan i want to implement.
  15. He did that in the Clubs/Breeze/Allrianne scene too, but he caught that one.
  16. Brandon mentions in an annotation that Clubs used to be a Seeker in the early drafts, and his subconscious is still convinced that he is. He caught that error in the printed version, though.
  17. This seemed to indicate that you had misunderstood. Sorry if i was rude.

Why can't i do anything there?
  19. But Kelsier really did hijack Preservation to speak with Spook. See Annotation: http://www.brandonsanderson.com/annotation/330/Mistborn-3-Chapter-Fifty-Eight-Part-3
  20. That's the point. The Shin (chicken and soulcast) don't got to war for gemhearts. The Parhendi do.
  21. This is my theory as well. The Second Oath locks your bond "on." Before that, you can only use power when acting according to the Ideal. The other Oaths... I'm guessing they deepen the bond, make it more effective, but we don't know for sure.
  22. Actually, the lowest sphere denomination is diamond. We know that Kal's wages are paid in diamonds, so i think that's what he mainly uses. Also, the first time he knowingly uses Light, it comes from a topaz.
  23. I've been trying to point this out for a while. +1!
  24. Theft (Opposite to Endowment) Pride Balance (Nightwatcher/Silence Divine) Corruption Freedom Identity(may exist on Earth) Possibility (same)
  25. As Alcatraz Smedry pointed out...
