IIRC Sanderson said the script from a few years ago didn't include the prologue but had a new scene with Reen and Vin before his death. It better introduces Vin.

Sadly the parts that may need to cut are some of the parties and the crew's free evenings. I think these parts are important but they are also slow. I know i am likely going to be hated over this one but if the movie is about Vin, a lot of Kelsier's solo activities will need to be cut and referenced to by dialog. This would also help reduce the violence content if that is a concern. Mistborn could easily have the top rating (R in the States) if the director wants. The mass executions could do it by themselves, though the first one will likely be cut for the time. If instead we focus on Kelsier we would see a lot less of Vin and Elend which personally undermines the sequels, and Vin is awesome in her own right. They need to give her screen time. Though if they split the book into two movies it could work better with less cutting... this one is my vote.

Reading Excuses - 11072016 - Tsidqiyah - Hero's Mantle Ch1 (V)
Tsidqiyah replied to Tsidqiyah's topic in Reading Excuses
Thank you for the review @Robinski. Life is finally calmed down. Our little one came home on 12/26 and two weeks later was off oxygen. He is healthy and normally happy. And with the slow season at work finally here I can get to revisions and rewrites. Additional chapters will need to wait for a for review. Many of the issues you brought up are rampant and need pruning. Thank you again to everyone's comments and thoughts. -
The End of Genius, and an Ethical Dilema
Tsidqiyah replied to 1stBondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I am on @Quiver and @Pagerunner 's side as long as there is NO inside information it cannot be a spoiler. Therefore put it here for discussion because I can guarantee someone will disagree and will have just as strong evidence that there is a flaw in the thoughts. As for contacting Sanderson every time I have been able to talk to him at signings (No I am not personal friends with the man. Though that would be my number 1 wish.) I get the impression he hopes we will find the crumbs and follow them. He just doesn't want to confirm too much for those not following the crumbs. -
Can ANY shard exploit hemalurgic tears? I thought only Ruin could do that (Harmony now). At the AU signing in Provo Sanderson did say Kelsier scares him more than any other character because he could very easily become a villain, a nearly unstoppable one.

@Assassin in Burgundy I will need to reach out to my brothers for the details (one got his PhD in Math for Celestial-Mechanics and ADVANCED number theory and the other is working toward a PhD in physics.) But the very basic idea is that spacetime is a fourth-dimensional model that combines height, width, length and time. this model has simplified a lot, if not everything, about astrophysics since it was proposed. In general, think back to graphing equations: One dimensional is a number-line; Two is a X,Y coordinate grid; Three would be an X,Y,Z coordinate box, while Four (spacetime) would be X,Y,Z,T system where every "event" (i.e. planet, star etc) has it's own unique position and the system is the concatenate of ALL possible events.. The idea that gravity creates "wells" within the "fabric" of spacetime comes from a lot lot of recent math development starting with the Theory of Relativity. GPS uses this math BTW. The idea that black-holes tear holes in the "fabric" is a Hollywoodism from the fact that EVERYTHING we understand about physics becomes meaningless past the event horizon. Infinite deep pit is a good description. In general space time is modeled to be smooth and continuous. The last model of the universe I saw has it as a torus, or donut shaped, but this is due to mathematical extrapolations not physical observation.

Like i said CRAZY. I personally lean to the Trell=Autonomy as well. but it could be a valid direction we will have to wait for the next book i guess.

Has anyone one else seen the mathematical theme in the names of the Set? Set: a well-defined collection of distinct objects, considered as an object in its own right. For example, the numbers 2, 4, and 6 are distinct objects when considered separately, but when they are considered collectively they form a single set Array: An arrangement of a series of terms in some geometric pattern, as in a matrix. (Think a multiplication table) Suit: Generally another name for a set. Think of the suits in a deck of cards. Sequence: An enumerated collection of objects in which repetitions are allowed. Like a set, it contains members (also called elements, or terms). Dictionany.com and Wikipedia. This nearly makes me wonder if Trell is a Shard that already embodied the concept of Harmony, Balance, or order and is threatened with another one on the scene. CRAZY THOUGHT: Sazed has multiple personalities one is Harmony and another it is Trell. I'll need to think about that one.

Mistborn Dragonsteel Leather Edition
Tsidqiyah replied to NewbSombrero's topic in Events and Signings
Sanderson did say that sometimes Robert Jordan used RAFO as less of a Read and Find Out and more of a "Read, Analyze, Feud, and Opt-in" (Note: by feud i really mean Discuss but i needed the F) maybe that is what is going on here. Maybe this is supposed to be more of a discussion point for us with no future relevance. -

Some Stormlight Archive Theories and Kandra Detection Strategies
Tsidqiyah replied to Valtak's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Do we know for sure Nale has his blade back? I was under the impression that he was using an ordinary shardblade. Though he would almost certainly need access to the surges to get around like he does. So maybe a living one, or fabrials. but last I heard Brandon had only ever RAFOed if Nale had his Honorblade back. -
I always thought that we were just seeing the natural effect of a process that draws in the surrounding natural heat as a side effect of working. IE an endothermic reaction. I have felt that this is similar to how Color is consumed during awakening.

Problems with Character Talking
Tsidqiyah replied to Hemalurgic Headshot's topic in Creator's Corner
When we say he needs to turn around is this just for the block? or does he have a change of heart and his personality change? For the first it may be out of place for him to change like that unless you have already built into the character the public vs private faces. i normally would include the assistant who handles the PR stuff and the slaver handles the money stuff. The second direction (change of heart) generally requires some sort of epiphany moment, or a powerful motivation to change. As for salepeople i like the ones who truly appear to believe in their wares, "My slaves are better then yours and no matter what you say, i'm still right." Sort of direction -
For Hoid to show up on world in era 2 a perpendicularity must be active. i suspect the well is around but maybe moved back to where it was before the Lord Ruler got involved. Ruin's shardpool likely was also moved back to it's original place. So now the question remains did Atium and Laresium exist prior to the Lord Ruler's ascension. If so i see no reason why they wouldn't go on existing. UNLESS their existence was a side effect of Preservation's trap and Ruin's subsequent imprisonment. Then with that situation resolved around they would stop existing unless Harmony intentionally continued them. I believe there is a WOB about at least one bead of Laresium still being around from before.

The Scadrial essay does mention repeated cataclysms from the movement of the planet so i believe sometime after HoA but before AoL

If i recall the Mistborn Era 2 books take place within a few years of the WoK. this would put Era 1 about 300-400 years before Warbreaker slightly after that and Elantris somewhere before. The Coppermind has a decent chronology based on what we currently know. i see if i can find it then i'll edit.

Topaz! Topaz! Topaz..! And Hoid..
Tsidqiyah replied to Hoids Imaginary Friend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It should be noted that Aluminum (in one form or another) is in the Corundum family of gemstones (Ruby and Sapphire) as well as the beryl family (Emerald and Heliodor). A number of types of garnets and topazes also include aluminum. So 6 of the ten Rosharian gemstones contain Aluminum. (Diamond, Zircon, Amethyst, Smokestone and the other four). BS was asked about the dividing line for these stones because so many are chemically similar and the answer was color/chemical composition combination is what is important. As to Hoid's being called Topaz it was because he used to wear a large one. I cannot even begin to guess why. -

The secret behind the Rosharian Gas Giants [Theory]

I agree with @Blightsong the planets are likely unknown by the rosharians. I suspect the outer planets were named by the scholars of Silverlight.- 30 replies

Actually neither @Spoolofwhool. I was more or less looking for clarification on why he is there. I need to learn not to shard at work because my posts tend to be incomplete.
