  1. I don't know, and as I said, I don't think Nightblood would grant surgebinding abilities. I just think Nightblood would give some powers including stormlight augmentation, but I have no idea what those power would be in the form of. Also, Spren don't give surges, they give surgebinding abilities.
  2. Well, there are the WoBs that state that Vasher modeled Nightblood after a Rosharan spren shardblade, so they have more in common than just both being shardblades. Personally, I don't think that Nightblood would give surgebinding abilities, I was just indicating why others think it is a possibility. I'm more of the thought that Nightblood contains something approximating a splinter so on Roshar, those it is bonded to would receive some sort of power, similar to other powers granted by a nahel bond, like [Elantris Spoilers] WoBs that Vasher modeled Nightblood after other Shardblades: [WoB] [WoB] First point, Nightblood is shardblade. A shardblade is loosely defined as a heavily invested magical object. Good point on the differences between intent usages between sprenblades and Nightblood, but those aren't what define a shardblade. I feel like though since Nightblood is stronger, it would give stronger powers as well, but using those powers would be more limited to the investiture needs of Nightblood.
  3. Nightblood is a mimic of a mimic of an Honorblade so that seems to be a case for Nightblood possibly giving surgebinding abilities.
  4. In Soviet Roshar, Hoid is the main character. This is Stormlight Archive subforum, so you might need to spoiler Non-SA things. Not sure.
  5. Honor kill Odium!
  6. I don't think so. As Brandon has stated, the genes for feruchemy, at least, are deteriorated by the genes of allomancy, with possible vice-versa. The only way someone could be a natural fullborn would be if you someone prevented the deterioration, which at that point it wouldn't be considered natural. Feruchemy was naturally implemented into the Scandrians at the beginning of the world, like allomancy. Those who used it probably gathered together to become the Terris people, which is why is wasn't seem much outside of the Terris.
  7. Shardplate wears YOU!
  8. I disagree with the labeling of Taravangian with evil. Being without empathy doesn't instantly make someone evil, in general. Good and evil are subjective tags which cannot be applied objectively. The problem with the suggestion of him following a different plan, is the fact that he probably doesn't have one. Before he the day of the Diagram, he probably was just researching about the Desolations and a bit of everyone, and collecting Death Rattles, hoping to find the path that would allow him to save some. The Diagram was then written, and he found something he could use to save enough people. Is this Diagram flawed? Probably, he wasn't completely omniscience and couldn't see the complete path, just specific points in it. Is it compromised because he was morally and ethically compromised when he made it? Possibly, but if what the Diagram is directing is absolutely necessary to save, then no. Without lacking ethics and morals, he wouldn't have been able to make a plan which involved killing his friends.
  9. Considering Brandon uses sentience correctly to indicate self-awareness, it seems extremely unlikely he would use it for a different definition elsewhere. Even though humans are unique, everything else still has some measure of investiture in them from Ruin and Preservation, humans just have more Preservation. I don't see why beings wouldn't be considered to have innate investiture without the imbalance. My bad on Drab innate investiture though. I guess I was confused by another WoB which said that Drabs just had part of their investiture ripped away, but the majority of it remained.
  10. That's just what he wants everyone to think. He probably had some inkling though that nothing good would come of it. Guess he never expected that the parshendi wouldn't want the True Desolation to come about. Who knew that people would actually try to avoid the bringing about of world-ending events.
  11. With subtext being "With your gods back, you get to mentally enslaved again! Your race gets to repeat the events of millennia past which involved the systematic destruction of all civilization on this planet, eventually resulting in a large portion of your race losing their connection to spren, gaining slaveform, and becoming enslaved by humans! Really win-win!" I can see why they would want to kill him.
  12. To be fair, we don't actually know whether the Oathstone is actually magically binding people, or whether he's just following his oath of being Truthless by personal honor. Nale, at the end of WoR seemed to imply that it was just a matter of personal honor, as he congratulated for saying true to his oaths and not wavering where others would've. Also, from Szeth's viewpoint in the prologue of WoK, he described it as his honor preventing him from intentionally failing his orders, not some external binding. I'm of the opinion that the oathstone was just a stone used to mark whoever was his master, without any magical meaning. The oathstone is also described as being quite ordinary, unlike the black sphere. Also, since the oathstone is stone, it wouldn't be able to contain anything, in my opinion, as it appears that on Roshar, only gems can hold investiture or investiture entities.
  13. Everything had some measure of innate investiture. Innate investiture gives sentience, and since practically all animals are sentient, they have some degree of innate investiture. Also, I believe it has been said that you can use hemalurgy to steal attributes from animals, confirming again that they have some innate investiture. Finally, my impression was that spiritual aspect was innate investiture, or rather, for the most part, is. Also, drabs have innate investiture, just less.
  14. If that's your definition then it actually fits Kaladin really well. Consider all the times he's gotten into a fight. Most of these times, he's thrown himself into the fight with the intent of accomplishing a specific goal with little regard for his well-being. At the end of WoK he threw himself at the Parshendi with the desire to save the Kholins. He hopped into the arena during Adolin's duel to save him without regard for his safety. He went to save Gavilar without his surgebinding powers, knowing he would be facing full shardbearers, without caring about his safety. As far as I can see, with either definition of a tank, Kaladin would end up wearing shardplate because it's the logical thing to do. It will make him a more effective fighter, and whether he is doing impulsive stunts or methodical fighting, it would be an advantage for him.
  15. I'm sorry, but why are you assuming that wearing shardplate means Kaladin has to just stand there and take hits, or just go around body slamming people? As stated before, shardplate grants increased mobility and strength. He would be quite able to continue to fight in his usual method, lithely moving through the battlefield while using basic lashings to finely control movement, while in shardplate.
  16. Didn't see that WoB. Thanks.
  17. My WoB comes between your first WoB and your second WoB. This sounds like something he isn't completely set on so he's wavering between. Since the first two point towards inheritable and the last one points towards not, I think the best case would be to go with not-inheritable. Makes a bit of sense then, that way you can't take an Augur Bloodmaker twinborn and use them to infinitely augment the population's genetics with allomancy and feruchemy. This is an aside, from another topic I know there was a discussion about, but I can't remember where it was, so if someone could, that would be great. It was about whether pewter can spike gold feruchemy like MAG said. There's a WoB on Theoryland that says it does.
  18. Allomancy isn't that uncommon as AoL might portray. Here's a WoB on the matter.
  19. Only problem with that idea is that sprenblades are so invested they would practically resist any form of investiture.
  20. WoB that the allomantic gene is actually weakening the feruchemical gene. It's probably a spiritual thing, along with the fact that they're genes for different manifestations of investiture. Hemalurgically gained powers can be inherited, just with a far lower chance than normal ones. [Source]
  21. If it isn't stormlight, it probably wouldn't be bound by stormlight'ss nature of naturally dispersing. Not all investiture disperses naturally, and some forms can remain bound for a theoretically indefinite amount of time. Mistborn and Warbreaker Spoilers As the WoB seemed to imply, the sphere is invested with something that is more of Odium than stormlight, so it probably disperses at a far lower rate or not at all. It might be possible to bind a spren for a long time, since they might not have the same nature of stormlight. We know fabrials have spren in their gems, which seems to imply that they can hold spren for awhile since constantly having to refill the gems with spren using whatever process is required would probably make fabrials a lot less useful. Truth be told, we don't know enough about fabrials to say for sure though.
  22. It's probably a given that Erfworld is less funny since it's designed to be comedic for the most part with even the characters not taking themselves seriously. On the other hand, Erfworld feels to be more of a serious humor-type, and it's set in a completely made up world, which means it requires interspersed worldbuilding, which takes away room from funniness. I agree that this arc feels a bit shaky, but I think once it's done it will be pretty good. I think though that the first arc/book is the best part of the webcomic. Maybe that's just because that was the part where Hamster completely dominated.
  23. Don't forget that the feruchemy gene takes another hit when it starts mixing with the allomancy gene, resulting in ferrings instead of full feruchemists. Good thing the Terris Elders are working to consolidate the feruchemy gene so it won't be completely doomed. Also, Terris is still the dominant source of feruchemy and they're still a closed culture so it's not really going to weaken further past that I think.
  24. Tapping someone else's Identity would probably give you access to their keyed metalminds. If it overrides your identity, then maybe you could create metalminds keyed to their identity for them. If it mixes the identities, then maybe you could create metalminds which require the blended identity to access. Most cases, this would probably be more useful between full feruchemists. Continuing this line of discussion would be interesting, but would probably be better for another topic.
  25. Start with a blank piece of aluminium and instantly start storing all your identity is how I assume it's done. If that doesn't work since there's still the moment just when you start storing where you have identity then you could probably get around it by starting with one aluminummind and storing all identity then switching storing to another fresh one.
