  1. That sounds... AMAZING!!! Colour-coded ballerinas!!! Communicating in sloth as they dance so the audience isn't aware! (Nora, I don't think sloths are very loud) That's why it's PERFECT!
  2. Interesting theory. Other than a number of concerns people have brought up already, I see another problem. You theorize that the soulcaster was a prison for the spren by virtue of its structural design, and that by breaking the structure, the spren is freed. That would mean that even if you fixed the structure, the soulcaster would still not work since the spren would no longer be trapped within. However, Navani seemed to have implied that she has had experience with fixing broken soulcasters, soulcasters which had been broken in a similar method. As such, the idea of the breaking of soulcaster freeing the spren falls through. The only counter-arguments I can see are that Navani has not dealt with any soulcasters which have broken in the same manner, freeing the spren, or she knows the secret or rebinding spren, both of which I doubt. As such, I don't think the theory fits. Relevant WoR passage.
  3. Well, World of Remnant: Vale is out today, narrated by our favorite alcoholic, Qrow. I thought it was well done, though I think as voice-preferences go, I like Jen Taylor's voice or Ozpin's voice more than Qrow despite liking the character of Qrow a lot. Really nice bit of trivia though, which was cool, and helped indicate where some other mentioned places are in relation to Vale, which is nice. Any other thoughts?
  4. Yeah, it's known to be Nale now. At the time of the death, it wasn't, which is why he had the reaction.
  5. In Soviet Vorinism, the Hierocracy is glorified.
  6. Yeah, you're right. Definitely kept the old year. Probably because it would be too much of a bother, and the change wasn't that significant.
  7. It's possible. However, with the minor deviation in the length of the year, it would mean that over the millennium the seasons would fall out of alignment with the calendar.
  8. That's funny, and very well done.
  9. So what colour are Glynda Goodwitch and Ozpin?
  10. That's a beautiful place.
  11. We don't actually know whether the children were before or after he ascended. I'm willing to bet they were before, meaning they only had the chance for feruchemy. And tragically, if they did, he turned them into mistwraiths.
  12. Fair point on the Honorblade. However, it is likely that an Honorblade's power is more concentrated towards empowering its user, while Nightblood's is more geared towards destructive capabilities, so a accurate comparison cannot be made. I do agree though that Nightblood and a living sprenblade would definitely contact and block each other, but Nightblood would probably start drawing investiture out of the sprenblade, meaning prolonged contact wouldn't be good. I don't think Nightblood would affect Kaladin unless it actually touched him. In the long run though, I think Nightblood would beat any sprenblade, and even short contact would have some negative effect on the spren.
  13. According to Brandon, Nightblood is more powerful than sprenblades by magnitudes so... probably Syl wouldn't end up very well. Of course, the WoB was probably referring to dead sprenblades, which are probably weaker than living sprenblades, but I think the difference in power there isn't magnitudes, so Nightblood would still be magnitudes more powerful than Syl. To actually answer your question, no, we don't know what happens.
  14. Yes. Nightblood can theoretically destroy cognitive entities, such as shades, spren, and cognitive shadows.
  15. Honestly, the way I see, he has issues with predicting how people act emotionally when he's directly involved. Once he isn't directly involved, things go the way he plans. Take Jah Keved for example. He predicted how the people would act once he killed their Highprinces, which was definitely an emotional response resulting in the destruction of the kingdom. His subsequent appearance and aid inspired belief in him, just as the Diagram predicted. Also, it's possible that at the heightened intelligence when he believed he could make edicts to have people commit suicide, he was unable to calculate emotional responses and just believed everyone would act as logically as he did. However, when he reached the level of intelligence of the Diagram, he was properly able to take emotional responses into account. I do agree though that what he is doing is going to self-destruct eventually. I think there's a least one key piece of information about the Desolations which he was not aware of when he wrote the Diagram, leading to an extremely-incorrect educated guess, which as a result of his devotion to following it, will result in possible devastation.
  16. Nightblood is a shardblade. Brandon has named it as such. Also, a general definition of a shardblade is "a heavily invested magical object", which Nightblood definitely covers. Towards the actual question. It's definitely artistic interpretation. There's no need for a sheath for an Honorblade since you can just store there in wherever honorblades go when they vanish. The closest sprenblades, and probably honorblades, have to sheaths is the edge coverings they use for practicing.
  17. Okay, fair enough. I'm just curious why a previous ascended didn't simply change themselves to become immortal so that they could continue to be the Hero in order to ensure that there would be one. I'm guessing Rashek's situation only occurred because Ruin had applied enough influence to corrupt the prophecies.
  18. Where has it been said that someone else used the Well of Ascension's power previously?
  19. The length of the year would've definitely changed. For a satellite to be in a stable orbit around a large body, its radius and velocity follow the equation: velocity = (Gconstant x mcentral / radius)^0.5 This means that the radius and orbiting velocity are not inversely proportional, but rather multiplying the radius by some constant X would result in the velocity decreasing by the square root of X while the circumference increases by X. Since the circumference of the planet's orbit is proportional to the radius, this means changing the radius would result in a change in the revolution period of the planet. In other words, the length of the year changes, decreasing as the orbit decreases and vice-versa. (Decreasing orbit means circumference decreases while velocity increase.) I'm not sure what implication it would have on the refill time of the Well of Ascension, though all I know about that is that the refill time is 1024 years, though I'm assuming that's post-Ascension years. Actually, this would be an interesting question to pose to Brandon since a popular theory is that the Lost Metal is going to be atium since it was said in TFE that the Pits would take 300 years to regrow. However, if that's in TFE years, since Harmony moved the planet back out to its original orbit, that would mean the Pits, if Ruin's power is still there, would've replenished already. Huh. Really interesting. Very nice question.
  20. The first time my brother and I played GURPS, and our first RPG, we nearly got killed back magical automatons in "Gob-land" representing weakened versions of well-campaigned characters the GM had used in the past. My brother's character got stabbed in the back hard enough that the point of the sword came out his chest. Suffice to say, the only reason we didn't die is because the GM took pity on us and Deus Ex Machima a NPC to come and drop massive heals on everyone. The end of the scenario then had the NPC give us some weak manastones from the automatons we beat, though the centaur character who was also playing crushed the manastones in a strong automaton, which was a shame. When he did, it was funny because the centaur ran over the automaton, then the GM had me roll against my intellect + magical aptitude ability and my jewelry merchant skill so I could "hear" the sound of a manastone being crushed.
  21. I believe that we're using natural in the sense of occurring through genetic mixing of sDNA. So anything which involves directly rewriting the sDNA, such as how Rashek did when he was ascended or using Lerasium isn't natural.
  22. The theory that Nightblood would give the ability to use all forms of surgebinding or every form of manifestation of investiture on Roshar? Most definitely. That it would give the ability to use any manifestation of investiture on Roshar? I'm doubtful on that count as well. I think that at a base level, it would give the power use internalize stormlight and use that to augment yourself, but further abilities would be different. Mistborn spoilers. Please remember to spoiler. In my opinion, you're defining identity and spiritweb too much as being the same thing, when in fact I believe they are more separate, while both being a part of someone's spiritual aspect.
  23. Really, the only thing we know about Nightblood's bond is that it forms after someone draws it and can resist its influence to go destroy evil, after which they no longer feel nausea around it.
