  1. Roshar is also the name of the continent they live on.
  2. So Damnation and the Tranquiline Halls are the same place? That's an interesting thought.
  3. His intentions probably weren't for something like the Dor to produce, but his intentional actions resulted in it. Is this relating to your theory that splintering requires movement of a shard's power into the cognitive realm?
  4. Yeah, this fits really well. Good thought.
  5. In the original Ars Arcanum of TFE? It's because the Ars Arcanum is based on in-world knowledge, not true knowledge. As such, because in-world it was considered to the characters to be one of the main metals, so it was with them.
  6. According to WoB, the Thrill and the Death rattles began at the same time, around the time when Gavilar started exploring the Shattered Plain. I'm guessing that that was when the Unmade became active on Roshar ago, likely signalling the upcoming True Desolation.
  7. Chaysan, Dakhor, AonDor, and Potions. I'm counting the Aonic continent as part of the Domain as it seems to be clearly part of it, as Fjordell and the other places are not ignorant of it.
  8. This was discussed in another thread, but the conclusion was that the ability of a gem to hold stormlight is likely related to the brilliance. As such, only specific cuts increase the holding ability, but improper cuts, breaks, and flaws diminish the brilliance and the ability to hold stormlight.
  9. The thing is, the sand has investiture as a result of tiny organisms on it, but the essay suggested that water poured onto regular plants produced fairly incredible spontaneous growths, indicating that the either regular plants are invested, or the water is invested. Since water is a tie between the two, it would make sense for water to be invested as well. Nothing has been seen that indicates that the plants themselves are invested and just require water to flourish, other than that one observation.
  10. This makes me wonder. So the steel bubble is an extension of his resonance and savantism. When Wax commented to an opponent that they shouldn't drop their steel bubble, was it because all coinshots can make one to some degree, but as a result of his resonance he can make a better one than most, or does he just believe every coinshot can because he doesn't see himself as especially above the norm, when in truth he is only one of the few who can. (Only three Crashers known in history)
  11. Yeah, she did. Not the same since what is being suggested is that Wyndle actually turns into a lock pick, while Pattern was in his normal spren form and manipulating things. Makes me wonder though whether other radiantspren can affect the physical realm to such a degree normally, since IIRC, he was directly manipulating tumblers.
  12. Yes. Ardentia. Very important point as ardents, who can move between both gender roles regardless of their gender, can read. As such, in a pinch, any lighteye could use the ardents they own for scribing, if they do not have any females they can trust for the position. While it's true that ardents are not entirely incorruptible, as we saw with that short takeaway to the ardents in the Alethi Capital, people of faith who by their faith belong to you are likely to be some degree more trustworthy I feel.
  13. I think I saw a paraphrased WoB in one of the event topics which described the mechanics of Elsecalling as essentially just creating a micro-perpendicularity for a moment so that the Elsecaller can transition between the realms.
  14. Fair enough. Like I said, it's an interesting theory, though one I think is incorrect. Honestly though, I don't think it would be that hard to get an actual answer on whether this theory is correct or not. My issue with it actually is the coloured lens you place on Adonalsium as a result of it.
  15. Maybe, but very doubtful. I think Brandon has made it clear that both are to be kept separate, so information in one really has no effect on the other. Probably could just Brandon to confirm if you really want to try to use info from Reckoners to explain Adonalsium.
  16. So, if I understand this theory correctly, it's positing that the One created Calamity and Adonalsium in separate realities? Therefore, at their root, the Cosmere universe and the Reckoner universe are connected? Interesting thought. I don't agree with it, but interesting. If I can be honest, it's probably never going to be confirmed or expanded on. There is also the arresting fact that both universes operate on what appear to be completely different principles. Cosmere has a scientifically and well-explained magic system while Reckoners just has powers, which seemingly operate on a plot device system.
  17. I don't see how worldhopping between galaxies would be that hard anyways, since there would be next-to-no cognitive presence between galaxies, leading to a greatly reduced cognitive realm, just like worldhopping between worlds. I was always under the impression that Cosmere referred to the entire universe but all the stories took place in a central location of that universe, but I checked WoBs and found that a later one says Cosmere just takes place in a galaxy, so that works. @Amanuensis I have glanced at your theory. The thing is, I suppose it's possible, but I feel like Brandon has made it fairly clear that what is happening in any novel based on Earth is completely separate to what is happening in Cosmere. Yes, that doesn't necessarily mean it is wrong, but it will definitely mean that it remains unconfirmed.
  18. Dalinar used the lastclap against Szeth and didn't lose his hands, and someone said that Syl turned into a shardhammer against Szeth and it impacted against him, so I'm guessing it is only what is cognitively recognized to be an edge which can cut.
  19. Yeah, I read the essay, and it does seem to be indicating that the water is invested as well, since she described it as causing the plant life to strongly flourish when applied. It wasn't explicitly stated though and I don't think more investiture is required to create a link if one can already exist as a result of innate investiture, so I'm still on the fence.
  20. As First Selector said, we now know that Odium stuffed Devotion and Dominion's powers into the Cognitive Realm in order to prevent their rise to sentience, so I presume that is when the Dor was created, unless they were merged and considered the Dor before that.
  21. http://www.theoryland.com/wheel-of-time-interview-search.php This is probably the best resource for looking up WoBs. Just type in keywords to search. Also, checking Coppermind (The 17thShard's wiki) would be a good idea as well since if that's actually a part of nicrosil feruchemy, it would probably say so on the Feruchemy page, which it doesn't.
  22. Possibly identity. I think it's more likely though that Nale just messed something up when he healed him at the end of WoR, though I guess you could say that that caused the misalignment in identity, but I don't think it's entirely related to identity.
  23. True. I'll be honest though, chances are that he can read as well. It would make more sense, especially since he likely doesn't ascribe to Vorinism himself.
  24. I recall no WoB of you being able to turn one attribute charge into another with nicrosil. If you could link it that would be great. As Thunder_93 said, as far as we're aware, Nicrosil Feruchemy allows one to store the ability to use a manifestation of investiture (magic), not just any type of investiture whatsoever.
  25. Since he has said that Earth isn't part of Cosmere, and he doesn't seem the type who would straight out lie to the fans just so that he can pull a twist later on, I think it's safe to say that Earth is not in the Cosmere, and every story of his featuring Earth does not have a place in Cosmere.
