How many times have you gone to make a theory but when compiling WoBs you actually kill your own theory? I'm going guess I've had three theories of mine killed this way. I've gotta admit the one I killed this morning was gonna be a fun one.

The Cultivation stuff, made me think of Charlie and Candy Mountain. Scene: Random John Doe has a blade, and wants to rule the world. "I really love this blade, but eventually I get tired..." "Go to the Valley and get you some Old Magic." ... "I can make you swing a sword and never tire!" - "Yes! I want that!" "I will take your bond." - "Wait what? Ugh, creepy Eldritch horror stole my Shardblade."

Two beefs. 1) RENARIN! Alright being serious, 2) Elend and Vin. I'm not a huge fan, mostly because to me it's like when people call Romeo and Juliet a great lovestory. I'm nor very convinced kids that age can comprehend an incredibly complex feeling like love unless for a family member.

But any splinter of Odium roaming around is bad for anyone (see Nergaoul/Ashertmarn any mindless Unmade). You would have to splinter him to such tiny fragments and scatter them so far apart that it cannot reform and gain sentience.
-
How do you suggest Odium could be bound to be harmless? Find a way to reform Devotion, reform Honor and merge the three of them?

Whole heartedly agree. No more renewing the Oathpact! Take the upvote, hope it's purple soon!

I always thought that Taln's nickname of from the Way of Kings prelude. No matter how fantastic he is at fighting, choosing a poor spot must lead to terrific amounts of pain. Even watching him get overrun, losing body parts, stabbed, trampled, bashed with carapace weapons must be a terrible way to die and even watching him heal and continue to fight until his injuries are unable to be healed through Investiture was probably horrific.

nale OB The man can see into your soul
Naurock replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Szeth is an interesting character. He's still trying to mentally reconcile how he killed A LOT of people following the Shin customs and traditions, but according to those same customs he should never have been declared Truthless. Lots of death is tearing at him, and he's questioning his own beliefs. At one point (I think WoR?) he is looking at his Oathstone and says, it was just a rock. By choosing to follow Dalinar, I believe, is part of his redemption arc. He sees that Dalinar is trying to be a better man and maybe through following the Codes he can find the structure he's searching for. I think Brandon is heavily foreshadowing a future battle between them, that when Nale summoned his Honorblade Nightblood told him something to the effect of he's much better than that old blade, let him show him. Szeth really enjoyed the contests all the Squires (and fused!) and he would probably relish a battle between higher ranking and better trained Skybreakers. -

Yes, exactly. Brandon openly admits the Heralds are not in the right state of mind. Like @Calderis says Nale's persistence is his scariest aspect. -
[OB] Do you think Jasnah likes Kaladin?
Naurock replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
I was mostly joking when I said this. I know, it comes through perfectly in text form what with my tone and inflection permeating the text. But let's face it, we all know Nale would stare in horror at her soulcasting a group of bandits without filling out the proper paperwork. I just don't believe Jasnah is looking for a relationship and she has long since known a world ending cataclysm is coming. Her work of research and attempting to stop it is too busy to be interrupted by silly things like courtship. She has a family and throne to protect. -
Snappy Calderis is my favorite Calderis.

Yeah, I was reading about that because for a minute I had convinced myself he had subconsciously used the surge of Adhesion to go faster. But since it was so obvious he had done something before with the Wind Spren, I dropped it. But yeah going speed of light you'll suddenly become infinitely massive or some such weirdness...

@Chaos I'm super disappointed in you for not doing your impression about the boom box. @Overlord Jebus set it up and for you to knock outta the park, but you didn't. Why do you think I listen to Shardcast?!? But seriously, thanks guys. I'll be all over that podcast, because it's the only way I keep my sanity during work.

While in theory this sounds simple and a very good strategy. But the problem is Nightblood is very hard to control. Sheathing it seems to take a lot of effort due to the battle rage he induces. https://brandonsanderson.com/warbreaker-chapter-fifty-six/ In Oathbringer Szeth nearly dies and slams the sword back into the sheath. It seems to take a lot of effort to override Nightblood's desire to destroy.

It works now! And I was able to stream the show in my browser when the app didn't work. If your phone's internal media player is VLC it'll play any file. If not, you may be screwed. There are some apps that are a media player AND update the podcast feeds. But there's issues that: 1) Not free or if free they will interrupt your shows with ads 2) Obviously uses more memory because it's loading it's own media player 3) Confusing User Interfaces I use podcast addict because it's free, incredibly simple to add shows or update my feed (I'm subscribed to 33 podcasts for entertainment while working), can link to iTunes or stitcher, and no ads. It may sound bad to you but it's actually one of the best podcast apps in the Google store. When I was struggling with the show I messaged the app producers and got an answer in 2 hours. Google play podcasts isn't great, FYI.

I use Podcast addict too. It relies on your phone's internal media player. My phone bugged up with Shardcast too, but played it. You'll have to report the issue to Blackberry and hope they fix it in a future update. But we've found a workaround till then!
-
What type of phone and what app? What type of issues? Most apps require the use of your phone's internal media player. I had a similar issue, so I just started streaming the episode in the browser. But since a phone update it works fine for now. My problems were if it was interrupted via phone call or paused and then restarted it would cause it to replay from the beginning.

The Everstorm being old in design, I think that has something to do with Odium may be slightly vulnerable because he has to steer it. So he dropped the design and decided to make the Unmade instead to command, confuse, destory and more. Fun episode! Thanks for your hard work!

While I like the idea, it would be a MASSIVE amount of Investiture being forced into him. So to a Shard holding an "infinite" amount of Investiture, we need to find a way to force the equivalent of approx 50 breaths which is still an insane amount of Investiture into Odium. A Highstorm? Several Highstorms?

A shard being shattered on Yolen
Naurock replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Cosmere Discussion
To be fair, the Returned are viewed as gods in Hallendren. I don't know much about Yolen, but it sounds like it used to be the home to very powerful entities. He may have been talking about Shardic Deities, but he may have been contextualizing to what they are used to seeing on Nalthis. -
Kelsier is involved with the ghostbloods
Naurock replied to The Harlem Worldhoppers's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is where you lose me. I don't believe Sja Anat can grant Nahel bonds, and it's been discussed on the forum about the Unmade influence in his family is probably Ashertmarn. Stoking the fury and drinking in her father, cruelty in her brother and gambling. I really like everything else, though.- 33 replies

(OB) Jasnah and the Happy Herald Hunting
Naurock replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think she's going to quickly learn that killing the Heralds is not going to seal away the Fused. I agree with @Calderis -
The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss are amazingly well written. I'm a huge Kvothe fan, and am eager to see how it goes forward. The author that made me realize I liked Sci-fi/Fantasy was L.E. Modesitt Jr. His Saga of Recluse series is a world I loved to read about, with Chaos and Order being a balanced magic system that can be harnessed by mages. Seventh Tower by Garth Nix is also an intriguing story.

Went to YouTube and upvoted the correct answer.

@Overlord Jebus I posted this in the Shardcast responses. But what if the Sibling is also in Aimia? Bonded to a Sleepless, and they're using it to power a Fabrial that's creating the storm that floats around the island?
