  1. Random theory from left field as I listen. The Dawnshards are on Aimia. The sleepless are guarding them. One of the Sleepless has bonded the Sibling and they are using some Fabrial with the Sibling(or a Dawnshard) to create the storm surrounding the island to deter people from landing.
  2. I have also been confused as to what the sign of the nine is and have had similar thoughts. Brandon really likes to throw stuff out here like this and I also agree with you that Brandon does not add this stuff lightly. A couple things to consider: It could be argued that he showed Passion by killing Sadeas. Adolin has not been shown to be a Proto Radiant and the worst way to hurt Dalinar would be to manipulate his son away from him. The Sadeas death arc has not been wrapped up yet.
  3. I've always taken the fact that Odium has 9 Unmade while Honor had his 10 Heralds to take that Odium is looking at endgame more than anything else. By creating less Splinters he will have access to more raw Investiture for when he finally got a shot to kill Honor and splinter the Shard.
  4. Could it, though? A lot of recent questions about Hemalurgy has been RAFO'd, but we do have a couple answers regarding this. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/202/#e5969 Brandon seems to be talking mostly about humans, Koloss and then blessings for Kandra (which is sentient). So if it could be placed into a computer, wouldn't you pretty much be putting a clock on until what you placed in the computer having essentially a corrupted BIOS? Because the spike would no longer be stored in blood and would lose its charge.
  5. Biggest problems to overcome on Scadrial are that you need humans to tap or fill a metalmind, I don't know how a machine could use them. You also couldn't place a spike into a machine so it could make use of the Hemalurgic ability. IF they overcame these obstacles somehow, Scadrial is the first to use supercomputers. Nalthis seems like the fastest to be able to do this, as long as someone could visualize what a computer is. It would take a large amount of breath though, because it's not replicating life. Sixth of the Dusk Spoilers:
  6. Thank you for the physics backing I'm too lazy to look up! I've currently been on a kick of the YouTube channel Because Science and this topic is making me think about this like some of his episodes. Probably could've Googled it before I just threw it out there. @The One Who Connects by looking up Coppermind about Surges saying Adhesion is the surge of Pressure and Vacuum. OB note: Then a Google search led me to a Quora article saying, he could accelerate until he runs out of energy. Of course we have haven't seen how the surge works yet, and it would require Kaladin to create a constant vacuum further and further ahead of himself to accommodate his speed. I don't think he was using Adhesion subconsciously like he was with Lashings like WoR.
  7. Hey, just spit balling but could him pouring on lashings allow him to surpass terminal velocity? Or would it just make him hit TV faster? We've also seen him subconsciously tap the powers of surgebinding, maybe he's using the Surge of Adhesion somehow to surpass it? I'm no super genius, just throwing stuff against a wall to see what sticks.
  8. Kaladin loses until he gets a Syl weapon. Then he MIGHT win. As long as he doesn't get killed in the process of getting close enough and switching from shield to spear or sword.
  9. No WoBs. I like your idea, but it seems like it will still require a Singer to bond a Voidspren. I don't think humans could bond them before in previous desolations, they just fought for them because they picked a side. It would be an interesting development in the war as Odium says he's found a way to bond humans at the Battle of Theylenah (granted that was with the Thrill).
  10. Tbh, I'm not very confrontational either. I'm glad this didn't spiral and it ended cordially. I guess it just triggered me a bit. Hope you have a good rest of your day and things get better.
  11. My copy messed up (often does on mobile). I've added the rest of the info from the page. At the end it specifically says after a period (3 months is used as the example). This is why lurked these forums for so long without posting. This is their first post and you're jumping them for what you perceive to be wrong. You are making a toxic environment. They asked a question, that should completely be in bounds.
  12. I'm sorry, but WHAT?!? Directly from the rules post Re: Spoilers You clicked on a page directly in a subforum for Mistborn about a book nearly a decade old, and want spoiler tags?
  13. So I was thinking about the story of Fleet and remembered how at the end of the story he became the rider of the storms. Is it possible Fleet was Nohadon? Maybe this is why Dalinar seems to hear voices besides the Stormfather, and even had the dream where Nohadon guided him? I mean, how else could someone outrun a Highstorm? By being a surgebinder and being constantly infused to allow them superhuman endurance.
  14. But Kaladin's mom is alive and well, she hasn't been
  15. Buddy,,, Amaram is most definitely dead. He swallowed a gem that seemingly absorbed and replaced all of his internal organs. Yelig-Nar lore in the epigraphs says he consumes Voidbringers, which we found out humans are the Voidbringers. When Rock destroyed the amethyst grown heart both of the Shardblades appeared from mist and fell to the ground.
  16. Rock is also the only one that can see them, due to being a Horneater. We've had several instances of Spren spying on potential Radiants. Elhokar talks about seeing things in the corners of his eyes (later revealed to be Cryptics). Jasnah sees Ivory in the prologue to Words of Radiance and then is pulled into Shadesmar. I think while scouting Radiants they glimpse into the Physical Realm without losing their memories before bonding.
  17. Thanks Welltall. I guess the battle to him was the right moment to him. Do you think this is the first time his future sight has failed him?
  18. Jasnah and Lightsong.
  19. I don't see how you can say it isn't a winning move, as all the terms have not been laid out for us. The wording in Words of Radiance says that they need to convince Odium to do it. Why would he agree to a deal he doesn't need to make? The deal was binding enough that Taravagnian knew that Odium cannot appear to Dalinar personally anymore, because Dalinar can force him into it. This deal has the balance of the world on it. All of the Alethi are Thrill addicts. Even the Thaylen discover it's potency in their civil war. It's a blood lust, pure and simple. Dalinar is just the most suited to controlling and channeling it from what we've seen in his past. Would you mind providing a book/chapter? I'm super curious about the details. This seems like the most plausible explanation to me, which is why I kinda included it. His future sight must have made him think it was inevitable but still by now he must've seen that his future sight as to humans can be wrong. At this point after thousands of years, what's the rush?
  20. Taln seems to be operating under the assumption that the remaining Heralds had stayed to guide humanity.
  21. So this kinda bothered me in the book and I don't understand why Odium would accept Dalinar's challenge. When the challenge was introduced in earlier books I thought it was more of a end series situation. In the visions The Almighty tells Dalinar to make Odium think can lose, to vex him so he would agree to a contest of champions. Why would Odium agree and try to appoint Dalinar as his champion? Let's just recap: Odium has been on Roshar for approximately 7000 years, right? He had almost won before because he had run down human civilization. He had broken the Heralds causing them to abandon Taln. Since then the protectors, the Radiants, had forsaken their oaths leaving no remnants to remind humans of the incoming fate. Now the desolation has started and nobody, including the world's foremost scholar Jasnah, knows all of the incoming dangers. As it seems there's several Unmade that have yet to be freed, most of Odium's best fighters have yet to be awakened, and the Heralds that were supposed to be there to help them are long insane and useless. Why would Odium get impatient and agree to a battle of champions when he could just wait for a few years, at most, to have his forces just steamroll the unprepared planet? They couldn't have "vexed him" already. I understand the benefit of cutting off the head of the resistance, but considering the massive amount of risk involved in losing, why not just wait?
  22. Can't wait for the Odium podcast!
  23. I had the exact same experience! The first time it was funny, but the second time I really felt for him. He was the useless slave, deflecting all hate of himself through humor. Saying all the mean things others could say about him first but saying it with a humorous twist. He was ready at that point because he was finally showing real leadership. It made me want to see much more real Lopen. It became apparent to me he put on a mask for everyone else. He was saved by Kaladin, and wants to help others now.
  24. Welcome to the Shard! Hey, you're on the Stormlight Archive forum, but this post needs to go in the Oathbringer spoiler board. Also needs [OB] before the title.
