Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Elenion replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So that's all of you?!? If that's true, I propose: Elenion's (mostly) Foolproof Plan to Beat the Jeskeri Phase 1: Protect our senators tonight. A 5-man senate requires 3 Jeskeri to win; a 4-man senate requires only 2. Since there are 2 duelists on the Senate and at least one village monk out there, that's 3 defense roles. If we've got another non-Senate duelist that makes 4, which is pretty good chances for no senators to die. Phase 2: Watch out for Landlords. A single vote can quickly turn into 2 by the hand of a Jeskeri Landlord, and so one suspicious vote can be enough to get a village senator kicked off by surprise. We've already killed one Jeskeri Landlord, Conq. There might be more of them. Since I really doubt there are 2 more Jeskeri Landlords, if nobody puts any recall votes in we should be good. Phase 3: See if the Jeskeri kill Seonid. If they do, they have a majority and we couldn't have won anyway. If they don't, we know they aren't ready for game end, so we can kill Seonid and end it on our terms. Phase 4: Use math. Assuming 5 starting Jeskeri, they will average about 1.3 people on the Senate if tested repeatedly. Since Cloud is vetted and practically confirmed good (since he wasn't implicated in the whole WGG problem after Maill confessed to being the offending duelist), we can assume they only hold one spot on the Senate, perhaps 2. Phase 5: Lynch Seonid. Since the math tells us there are no more than 2 Jeskeri on the Senate, we're in good shape to end this now. If they have only 1, we're good even if 2 village senators die. If they have 2, we need a full 5-man Senate to ensure victory. TL;DR: All defense roles target Senators; everyone lynch Seonid tomorrow.- 727 replies

Elenion politely declined and followed the servant to his room, being careful not to accidentally light anything on fire en route. Once there, he leaned his staff in a corner and collapsed on the bed, overcome with the weariness of the day's travels. The second Elenion woke, he became aware of the sweat on his face. It wasn't from any heat, in fact, he could feel a slight chill, but instead from what he had seen while he was sleeping. He had had premonitions before, but none so vivid and so urgent. It compelled him onward. Elenion reached out his hand and his staff flew into it. He wasted no time leaving his room, getting his horse from the stable (he was impressed with the care it had been given; 300 miles in one day was not easy for a horse, even one of the abilities that Stryder possessed), and setting off over the pass, using his staff for light to compensate for the darkness that still lingered in the sky. But he did not follow the road to Minas Tirith; his vision in the night had dictated the path he must take. ********** The flash of light threw Elenion backwards, spinning him end over end until he hit the wall, pinned as though with an invisible weight. "Traitor!" he yelled, "You have betrayed us for power?" He began to gasp for breath; the sorcery that held him, he now realized, did not permit him to breathe, and he had used all of his air in that accusation. His assailant said nothing, but reached down and picked up Elenion's staff. The traitor, robed completely in white, began to channel the power he now held, but suddenly stopped and looked up. Elenion felt it too, and if he had any breath left he would have laughed as his assailant was thrown across the room, losing his hold on both staffs. Elenion looked up and connected his thoughts with the Presence. "Is it time to pass on?", Elenion asked in thought, aware that he had no air left, "But if it was, why have you come?" And then, without hearing any return thought, he knew. Liberated from his body, he summoned his staff back to his hand and left, needing no horse to carry him as he flew over the ravines below. ********** Elenion needed no sympathy, so he did not tell Queen Elsa about his death. But it was rather obvious; one did not become a slightly-transparent specter of themself by chance. His return did warrant some explanation, but in his current state of jumbled thoughts all he could manage was, "They sent me back because I had not fulfilled my calling. What can a mage such as myself do for thee, o queen?"

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Elenion replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It was I who had no idea what a WGG was and I think it was Elbereth that explained, so I can testify for that, @Amanuensis. I'm just quoting what it said. I thought everyone had a role, too, but apparently not. If I was lying I would have made it more convincing. I seriously hope it's just one left, because even I at my most sadistic wouldn't have made 5 out of 19 people Derethi, not to mention 5-6 Jeskeri. If that were true then over half of us would be elims!- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Elenion replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I think it's time for another Table of Suspicions: 1. Elbereth- Saoli: Hasn't done anything too suspicious but if she's an elim would be disastrous. I recommend close scrutiny but not lynching. 2. Mailliw- Reomaim: Practically dead, kolo? 3. Cloudjumper- Kelron: Vetted by El, vetted Straw. Is most likely village but if El proves to be an Elim he might be as well. 4. The Young Bard- The Mysterious Figure: Vetted by Aman. Most likely village but could be a teammate of Aman's. 5. Ecthelion III- Aeleus: Enjoys pointing me out for bandwagoning and tunneling, some of which is true. Neutral feelings. 6. Orlok- Locke: Not enough information to do much with. 7. Elodin- oaR Village Merchant 8. Straw- Straw: Vetted by Cloud and the role has not been contested. Confirmed villager, unless something really big is going down. 9. Conquestor- Lorienthe Mysteries Cultist Landlord 10. Eramit- Kolokolo Kolo Derethi Convert Gyorn 11. Metacognition- Meta Mysteries Cultist Merchant 12. emilylime- Lime: Inactive, with a possible D1 distancing from Meta. I'd suggest death. 13. Eolhandras- Eolhandras: Same as Orlok. 14. Elenion- Ashkelon: That one overaggressive guy. 15. Sart- Sart: I suspected him for his D1 actions but few others did. I'd be fine with a kill or scan. 16. Jaimelecee- Jaena Village Merchant 17. Amanuensis- Opalin: Devised numerous strategies that appear to have been a pain in the kolo for the elims. I'd suggest keeping him around. 18. Seonid- Sheon Idris: We'll know soon enough, kolo? 19. Kipper- Kipper: Another of my critics, but seems to be concerned only for village safety. Unless something new comes to light after tonight (which will probably happen) I'd suggest lynching Lime and scanning one of 4 people depending on what we need. Scan El if there's no immediate need for a new senator Scan Sart if another kill appears to be unsubmitted Scan Orlok or Eolhandras if we need a new senator to be vetted, or if the elims appear to be active Everyone's thoughts are appreciated and encouraged.- 727 replies

Elenion took an involuntary step back as his gender was mistaken, but realized almost immediately that his blue cloak did make him appear at least a little androgynous. He flipped back his hood, revealing the face of a young man with a stubbly beard and single scar crossing his right cheek from below the corner of his eye until it was lost in the scruff of his chin. "I cannot linger here, for my journey is not yet over. But I believe that my arrival here was no coincidence. I was only able to find this place because I felt some strange power guiding me, a power that transcended both my understanding and the darkness that follows me. Perhaps we will cross paths again." He followed the servant for a few steps, then turned back, "When you awaken in the morning I will most likely be gone. Fare thee well."

The Outlaw's ability doesn't work on the Noblemen's because of 2 reasons: 1. That would make the Noblemen's ability not a full nuke, and, more importantly, 2. Thematically, they use different tactics. The Mordor characters are straightforward, they burn houses, use hit-and-run carriage attacks, snipe with arrows, that sort of thing. They are new to the city and have few non-Mordor contacts. The assassins from the noblemen are more involved: they've lived in the city for years. They know all the best hiding places, have innumerable contacts, and know that they must kill their target to remain alive themselves. But how would they get into contact? They have no PMs, they don't have a private doc, and one is a prime target for next round's Mordor kill if they reveal themselves. And if the guard self-protects and tries to go mayor, the Mordorians could just kill enough of the Noblemen to gain a kill in that doc and use the nuke on the unfortunate mayor.

Here's how I visualize it: the Guard is standing out on the street concealed, watching the exterior of the target player's house. Along comes a suspicious-looking character in a hood and-wham!-instant street fight. The assailant turns and flees, never getting into the target player's house. The guard doesn't spy through the house's windows because he's to honorable for that sort of thing, and so knows nothing other than that a Mordor guy got chased off. Every player has a role; some are just more involved than others. The Steward of Gondor is the most involved as he's the scanning role as well as Mordor's biggest target. The Lieutenant of Mordor is also expected to be very active, as well as the Guards of the Citadel. But once you get past this point the roles get a little less involved. The Politician also is a powerful role if used correctly, but it can be used with little strategy as well. The Noblemen scheme away in their doc, but other than their nuke they are basically a vanilla villager. The Outlaw's ability is only once per game, and so they spend most of the game as a vanilla villager. The Writer is the most vanilla of all; their ability only does anything after they are dead. So really, there are no players that are outright vanilla, but a 3 main roles have a large component of vanilla. After I draw up the next draft I should be good! Thanks for your help.

@Elbereth I've totaled the number of each role I want and compared them against my expected playing field (15-20) and found that there won't be many spare players to make prisoners anyway. I'll just cut the prisoner/jailer mechanic altogether, eliminating the possible mayor and the concerns about disheartened players altogether. Outlaw will be a starting role again, and between them and writers there should be plenty of vanilla roles mixed in with the scanning and defense. In keeping with the spirit of the prisoner mechanic, that will be my explanation for killing inactives: I can put in the write-up: "_____ was imprisoned for public idleness!"
