Okay, let me elaborate on my kill pattern suspicions. Mage, you note that the kills are not following standard protocol. I agree. Most recent kill patterns have been targeting the most active players. This new kill pattern appears to be either random (my hypothesis) or due to contacts. The problem I have with the contacts strategy is that Hoid and Auto can't convert Odium. Kas, you bring in a few more names to add to my suspect list. Alv I will agree on; he's now in the same bracket as you. I had forgotten about his tactics in LG24. I don't think Araris has even been active enough to keep a Shard, so he's out. I've played a few games with Aonar and Sart, but neither of them stood out as the kind of player who would sacrifice kill efficiency for subterfuge, although as I said I may be wrong about one or both of them. All things considered, I don't find either of them nearly as suspicious as <Lopen, Kas, Alv>, any of whom I wouldn't put an RNG kill past. My final verdict is this: I would be willing to bet that between Lopen, Kas, and Alv, one is Odium. Lopen is my prime suspect in both gut read and logic, and I am willing to commit myself to that lynch no matter how unpopular. We need decisiveness to catch Odium, and I'm going to try to supply it.

Well, I don't think Nalthis was even alive to begin with. I am okay with all worlds declaring their members, but don't want to disclose anyone's location who wants to be anonymous.

Hmmm . . . my other suspect at this point is Kas. I won't switch my vote yet, but the kill pattern does seem like something he would do. Kas, what's your opinion on who Odium most likely is?

There are a lot more: Assassin, DA, Doc, Kyne, Zeph, Conq... none of them have posted recently, to my memory. There may be more. But that aside, I've been seeing more and more things that make me again suspicious of Lopen. The first is that he's apparently active enough to keep up with the game, but he seldom posts. That's not like him, or at least what I've seen of him. Second is that he seemed evasive about the content of his PMs. At the time I thought that was just him being wise about who had what info, but now I'm not so sure, due to #3. Third is the kill distribution thus far. Most elims have a habit of killing active players, but that hasn't happened. Instead it almost seems like Odium is killing randomly, which is a tactic that has come up multiple times when I've been in elim docs, most recently in Summitmist Manor by Joe. Every time I've heard that proposed, though, it has been by an older player, leading me to suspect that Odium this game is someone like Lopen or Kas. Ninja'd! Bard, if it's relevant, I got an instantly-closed PM between only Lopen and I. I just assumed it was Sheep taking my advice.

Okay, first things first is to reconcile who did what. Unless I'm mistaken, Sheep had Devotion, and Odium killed him. Harambe was killed by a vigilante Voidbringer. Conq was not returned, and Joe committed suicide. Does anyone know what action Joe took to kill himself? And what has Ruin been doing this whole time? Another thing that jumps out to me is why Autonomy converted Joe and not Odium. I think Autonomy may be going after Cultivation, and just converted Joe before Odium could. Per the rules Agents of Autonomy can't be invested in, and Odium's conversion is an invest action, so Autonomy converting Joe would have denied Odium the opportunity.

Aman would be proud of this wall of text. Preservation: Day Objectives: Use investment action on players who could benefit from it. This would be especially effective on Returned, as that allows them to use their mass-protect without dying. Night Objectives: Use Shardic action to preserve players. This ability effectively takes lynching and returning choices away from the village, though, so Pres should hold off on using it unless they have a good reason to suspect that a living player is village or a dead player is an elim. Should it be confirmed that Endowment is with the 17th, Pres should focus on locking down those lynched from Returning. Either: Freezing the round is a two-edged sword: it can stop the lynch from swinging or Odium, Hoid, etc. from putting in their orders, but it also suppresses beneficial actions. If Pres plans on using this, they should notify their trusted players in advance so they can send in their actions before the freeze. Ruin: Day Objectives: The Roleblock can actually be used as a powerful tool to scan for Odium. Ruin should Invest in a single player during the day, and during nights that player should target a bunch of different players. If the Odium kill suddenly doesn't happen, we then have a major suspect, unless Odium just didn't put in a kill in an attempt to misdirect us, but even then Odium loses a kill opportunity. Night Objectives: Kill Harambe! Well, anyone whom the thread is largely-suspicious of. Either: Destroying a world is generally not beneficial for the village, but Elim!Ruin could use this to great effect. However, in a pinch this could be used as an (admittedly heavy-handed) roleblock to Odium or Hoid. Devotion: Day Objectives: Lynch protection is a valuable commodity, so I would advise Devo to use that ability sparingly. The lynch is one of our best tools, and a no-lynch is generally very unhelpful (as we've seen so far). Night Objectives: Communication this game is important, so keep the PMs going. PM groups should be kept small to facilitate role-claiming, and the members of the PMs should be kept constantly-rotating. Do not put yourself in many of your PMs, to avoid suspicion, but put yourself in a few so that your absence isn't noted. Dominion: Day Objectives: Domin's investment is not very powerful, and is beneficial for the village as a whole, so be generous with it. Target especially active voters. Night Objectives: Redirect a variety of players onto themselves. For most Shards, this is not harmful, but if you can get Odium to Shatter himself then it's game over for Team Hate. Domin's force-perform-action isn't nearly as utilitarian as the general redirect, but if it's discovered that the 17th has a specific Shard then Domin can usually put that ability to good use. Endowment: Day Objectives: Endowment's Investment would be made better by moving to a planet with powerful roles (Scadrial is probably the most) and investing in players on that world to ensure that the most powerful abilities hit the field. However, don't stay in one place for too long, or Odium might catch on. I know that sounds contradictory, but do your best. Night Objectives: Returning should only be used on those night-killed by Odium, because a lynch gives us nothing if the lynchee doesn't stay dead. Endowment would be a horrible Shard to have in the hands of the 17th, so don't pass unless absolutely necessary for the Shard's safety. Cultivation: Day Objectives: Vote-manip is usually better for elims than for villagers, so Invest with judgment. However, there are some good uses for manip, like forcibly-solidifying lynches, so Investing is a sort of judgment call for Culty. Night Objectives: Cult's main job is to battle Odium. As long as Cult regenerates a Shard every round, Odium can't win until he Shatters her. For this reason, Cult should be kept in constant motion between a group of people cleared by Dominon's general redirect. Alternate Night Objectives: Cult can also be used to super-charge minor roles. This is doubly-effective on powerful roles that receive 2 items instead of one due to this action, such as Mistborn, Lifeless Commander, and Voidbringer. Lifeless Commander is probably the best of these to choose, but be careful who you trust. Anonymous Investing is recommended. Honor: Day Objectives: Find a champion. I would suggest that Honor changes champions periodically to ensure that Odium's Champion doesn't zero in on them, but a given champion should be good for at least a few cycles. An interesting companion to this ability is that it fails on Shards, so as a last resort it can be used to scan for Shards, although I wouldn't suggest doing that unless the situation is truly desperate. Night Objectives: Protect claimed/suspected Shards. Since Odium is the only one who would want to target Honor specifically, self-protecting is not going to be a good idea. Odium: I Hate you. Autonomy: You're on your own. Survival: Repeatedly invest in Len. TL;DR: My #1 discovery is that Domin's redirect is a terrifyingly-effective way to scan for Odium. Just redirect random active players onto themselves, wait, and laugh when Odium shatters himself.

Sounds like a great idea with both of those last points. I'll have a tactical analysis of the Shard actions and investments up after I get some breakfast.

Mobile won't let me edit my last post, so... Although MR15D3 might have been the most unanimous, the most votes on a player is definitely when we lit Mailliw up for 19 in LG24D2.

MR15 D3 was 10 on Eramit with only one other vote (Eramit's own), so sadly we didn't set any bandwagoning records. @i_am_a_stick

I see where Joe is coming from, though. We all trust him (mostly; I for one am still a little paranoid), and that's a dangerous thing to happen in a conversion game. I won't vote for his life, but if the rest of you will it then I will not object.

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Elenion replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The reason was that we wanted you dead and the villager-bandwagoning was strong that game. I agree that it was for no good reason, however. Right now I'm embroiled in the Shards game, but I'd like to sign up on the PH list.- 329 replies

@AliasSheep 'Village input' meaning 'input from the villagers who would otherwise just be sitting on the bandwagon'. I thought I expressed that in the next sentence, but I guess I didn't make it clear. Right now I think we've heard everything from Lopen that it would be prudent to hear with all of the factions listening in (although Devotion if you want to put him and me in a PM that would be nice). But since I still don't want to join the bandwagon of the century I'm going to bandwagon with Kas and vote on Kynedath for inactivity. @Kynedath did you remember that you were in this game? (@Darkness Ascendant you too?)

We need a new discussion topic, and it looks like my first action after coming home from vacation will be to make one. Lopen I'm feeling paranoid about him. He's been awfully quiet this game, for one, but more than that I think he's more likely than most to be in one of Devotion's PMs. Unless Odium got Conq by chance, Odium was in a PM with Conq. Right now my evidence is circumstantial at best, but I want some village input. It's better than just hopping on the bandwagon, after all.

Either: 1. Harambe is village, 17th, or Auto, and Odium left him alive knowing that we'd do their hard work for them. Or 2. Harambe is working with Odium and so escaped Shattering that way. I'm inclined to believe the former, but I'm not involved enough in this game to suggest a good lynch alternative. I'll be home in about 3 hours and will figure things out then.

Just dropping in while I have Wi-Fi. Whoever manipped the vote was probably either Harambe or an elim, because an info lynch would have been in our favor. Mage, I'm not up to date on the Ruin situation, but if he is taking our orders than I'd appreciate him killing Harambe for information. We'll see if I can get on later.

I'm known for telling people exactly what I'm thinking. Usually that's a good thing, but occasionally it's not . . . Due to my bluntness and rational approach to problem-solving I often serve as a sort of counselor for some of my friends: they know that I'll tell them the best way to deal with something without holding anything back. However, I'm usually an introvert, and so those who don't know me usually just take me as a stereotypical nerd who does AP homework on the weeknights, plays D&D on Saturday, and goes to church on Sunday. In truth, I do all of those things (except D&D is on Friday as much as it's on Saturday ), but I'm far from a flat personality. Most of my good friends think I'm a little crazy (genius is close to madness, right? Right?), and I'm okay with that. I also go on lots of dates, but I'm not looking for a real commitment before I serve an LDS mission, so I usually just date friends with whom I can have a good time without either of us thinking that it'll turn into a relationship. I am a major flirt, but in a non-dirty way. Some people don't quite get the memo, though, so occasionally I get someone who thinks that I just change girlfriends like I change nerdy shirts or (even worse) that I have multiple girlfriends at once. That's just weird, people!
