This theory was based on Brandon confirming that "there was some force opposing Adonalsium". The Person that asked the question had forgotten that the 16 could very easily be considered a force, and they definitely opposed Adonalsium. So there could be an anti-Adonalsium out there, but I don't think we've got any definitive proof for that.

I see your point, but I believe the impact is merely changed from everything up-front to a slower burn, with a second impact when you finally accept the character isn't coming back.

The End of Genius, and an Ethical Dilema
DeTess replied to 1stBondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If I was in that hypothetical situation, I'd follow Landis and Belzedars advice. Then I'd write the whole damnation thing down. Encode the text in such a way that an NSA code-breaker team would take at least an hour to decode it and post it here with a quick explanation what it is about and the promise that a decoding key will be provided once the predicted events have come to pass. Why would I do that? Because if I had had such a stroke of genius, I'd want to be able to prove it once events have proven me right. -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
DeTess replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I've got a couple of rules-related questions. Are the minimum vote requirements fo rthe execution/pardon vote for the total vote count, or the amount of votes that have been brought out. For example, if 6 guys vote to pardon, 2 to execute and 8 people abstain from voting, is it a pardon or does nothing happen? It is mentioned that the prisoner conversation is the only group conversation allowed. Does this mean the unjust don't have their own doc? For the elsecaller power, how does the spren see (un)accidentally switching a player into a kill? And on that matter, what if the intended target of the unjust is switched with someone they had not investigated yet? Are PM's allowed? The lightweaver power suggests it is, but I wanted to check anyway. I assume Ammanuensis and STINK are to be included in each PM? On that note, if PM's are not allowed or restricted, how about conversations to agree on and plan out a collaborative roleplay post (for example, a long conversation). Are they allowed? Apologies if the answers to these questions had already been written down somewhere. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
DeTess replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Just wanted to announce that my forum issues are over for now. Included in the spoiler tag is my character's intro RP. It is identical to the text of the word document I had posted before, but I wanted it to be slightly more accessible. -
Aaaand I'm back. Thanks for fixing the issue, @Chaos. For my curiosity, can you share the inexplicably related change you reverted?
-
See my thread on the matter. Chaos has requested screenshots and other info be ssent to him..txt Rust and Ruin, it's spreading!.txt
-
Sounds like the issue I'm having. let him read my thread and if it's the same, follow Chaos's instructions.txt

You've got some interesting ideas here. For the first one, i doubt it's going to be that easy, but it probably is within the realm of possibility, though remember that you are making this Spren using Endowment's investiture, which means it would be some sort of endowment Spren, unless you manage to change the type of the investiture first. For your second idea, we've got a WoB somewhere that it would be possible to steal someones soul-stamped trait in this way, however, stamping someone to be a misting is considered to be almost impossible (changing someones metal would possibly not be as difficult though). Anyway, these are some nice ideas you've come up with.

Actually, I don't think we can rule out a Cosmere wide postal service. There are several worldhopper organizations that operate in a number of different locations, and they would need to have some way of communicating with the home front. Maybe the various organizations employ cognitive shadows for this, as cognitive shadows can't really work on the planet itself but could quite easily travel between silverlight and worldhopper teams.

Welcome to the 17th. To answer your question, Kelsier's 'There's always another secret' has stuck with me throughout my entire reading of the cosmere. Also, you should really ignore those other guys here and have a cookie *offers platter with cookies*.

No, the whole point is that as soon as Dalinar bonded the Stormfather, he did hear screaming, outing the blade as being a normal shardblade. If you look at the physical description of Taln's blade at the end of WoK and in WoR, you can see that they are clearly two different blades.

He actually partially draws nightblood at one point in edgedancer. I doubt he'd go that far if he wasn't capable of drawing it in full.

While browsing the stormlight subreddit, I cam across a pretty great (understatement) theory about Dalinar's and Gavilar's visions. The theory is based on some material from Secret History, so be aware of spoilers: https://www.reddit.com/r/Stormlight_Archive/comments/5lucl0/cosmerewhile_reading_mistborn_a_secret_history_i/ This theory isn't mine, but I believe it's a great theory and deserves to be read. If for some reason you can't access reddit, I've included the full text below, but all credit goes to reddit user Shovelbum26. Any comments should be put in the original reddit thread if possible.

It's a nice find, but it has been known mistborn would have 13 books since the full plan for wax and wayne was known. Originally, three trilogies where planned, and the four wax and wayne books come in addition to that, for a total of 13 books.

@Alpharho, @The One Who Connects, might I suggest reading edgedancer? The thing you're speculating on in spoiler tags gets the first hint of an answer in that novella.

There is some elegance to your explanation, but it works on the assumption that Adonalsium was some benevolent god that needed a Satan to balance him out. Given that the likes of Ruin and Odium where the result of his shattering, and knowing that at least some of the people involved in the shattering where decent people (Like Leras, and Ati was described as 'kind' before he took his shard) I'm not all that sure that Adonalsium was this benevolent god. So while I can't rule out an opposite to Adonalsium, I don't think it very likely.
-
I don't think Trell is a non-shard with shardic levels of power as it breaks much of what we know of the cosmere, which is thought to be created by adonalsium and later his shards. The sudden appearance of a god-like entity that is not of Adonalsium seems to break this understanding without really contributing anything, which is not generally how Sanderson approaches these things (I think).
