  1. Ben had spent the entire trip on the Hogwarts Express alone in his compartment. He didn't mind the loneliness, really. It gave him more time to read and to contemplate. And boy was there a lot to contemplate. The letter from Hogwarts had come as a complete surprise. It wasn't that Ben didn't know about the wizarding community--though his parents were Muggles, his grandpa was a Hogwarts alumnus. No, the letter was a surprise because out of all the talented, brave, and smart people in his family, magic had chosen him: the loner. It seemed like only a few moments had passed until the train came to a screeching halt. Ben followed the tide of students out of the train. Everyone else seemed to know what was happening; he would just follow them... "Firs' years this way! Firs' years this way!" A booming voice sounded across the station. Ben turned to the source and gaped. An incredibly large man, thrice Ben's height and with hands the size of dinner plates, was standing off to the side, a group of short students--made shorter by comparison--clustered around. The next half hour was a blur. This world was so new, so different, so exciting. He breathed in and with the salty lake air came a sensation of wonder that he had felt once before with his first steps into Diagon Alley. He felt rather than saw: felt the chill wind across the lake and harbor, felt the imposing presence of the castle. He only really came to reality when a kind yet powerful voice spoke. "Welcome to Hogwarts! I am Professor Reynolds. I'm sure you must all be really cold and hungry after your trip here, but before you'll join the feast, you have to pass the sorting ceremony. I could bore you with a monologue about our Houses, but I'm not that cruel. All you need to know, is that there are four Houses in Hogwarts. Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Gryffindor. They all have their good and bad sides, none if better than the other. Great and powerful wizards came from all four of them. Good and evil witches graduated from all four of them. There is also a competition running the entire year, where you gather and lose points for your house. You'll figure out the rest with the help of your new housemates. The sorting ceremony itself is quite simple. Once I read your name, you sit on the stool in front of everybody, I place the hat on your head, it picks a house for you and done! You go to sit with other members of your new House. Now, let's begin!" And with that, the doors opened and the stream of nervous first-years entered the Great Hall. The cavernous room was completely silent. All eyes were on them. An older witch at the head of the table unlocked her phone and called out the first name: "Adams, Elizabeth." The Sorting had begun.
  2. Sorry, my day's been busy. I'll see if I can get something down tonight.
  3. Happy birthday to @Mckeedee123, who mysteriously vanished one day in the middle of GMing. We will remember you.
  4. @Elbereth Yeah, I really messed up cycle 8 as I hadn't intended to tell anyone I had scanned Lopen in PM, but I was tired and ended up forgetting Fortunately we mostly had voting majority by then, and I had gained Drought's trust and Rand (?) had gained Jon's trust. We love you, good luck on the APs
  5. You get five more souls! And a note that says "behold, thou hast gained beside them five souls more...Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few souls, I will make thee ruler over many souls..." *inserts Hoid's flute*
  6. I say we keep going. The Sorting ceremony is about to begin and that sounds like a fine place to start.
  7. I would like to start as a new first-year. When should we post character details?
  8. I was the Night 3/Day 4 Snapped. I'm sorry if saying "I snapped last cycle" on Night 4 was too vague.
  9. He's right. Don't make any exceptions about the cookies. Accept the cookies.
  10. I've never done a freeform RPG before, but I might be interested in joining if this revitalized.
  11. Unless Wilson is pulling some hardcore deception, I suppose this means Hero is soft-cleared then? Kipper b/c last turn
  12. The words of the Bondsmith echoed across the broken land. "Man lost honor? If that were true, then what do you call this?" Honor, Ceol thought. Funny word to describe the 'Unjust'. Funny, you say? Vis had appeared. Not so, for what is justice without honor? Ceol pondered for a moment, then smiled--a full, glorious smile. "We just fought off a mighty demon lord, Vis. Now's not the time to bother ourselves with your deep philosophical questions," So unserious. As you always were... "Are you talking out the time...before?" As he said this, he picked up the claymore, the weapon of his youth. "Before PRIME? Back when I knew my father?" Yes, little one. Ceol objected at being addressed this, but the spren continued. Back in that peaceful time. I was always there, you know. Watching over you even as a lad. I knew your family well. Your parents were admirable and honorable people. "You wouldn't still happen to know where they are?" Ceol asked hopefully. How much do you remember? That's not an answer! "Bits and pieces, mostly. Training with my father, exploring the canyon near our house..." He frowned. "Why?" Nothing. I'm afraid I don't know much more about where they are than you do. Highspren, apparently, were terrible liars. - PRIME. This is a warning. You have been allowed to run free throughout the cosmere for far too long. Now it is time for your reign of terror to come to an end at the hands of one you previously called your own. You may have known me as the Fifth Nameless. You may have known me as your slave. But I am Ceol the Hunter. I am Ceol the Vengeful. And be warned: the tides have turned, and I will not rest until one of us is dead. END OF TRANSMISSION Ceol set the pen down and stood from the chair in his room. "First things first, Vis. Time to intercept Third's ring."
  13. My inner logic voice has something to say: The only way we're going to kill the Inquisitor is if we kill someone who's already survived once. No. Don't listen to that.
  14. The countdown is over, but seeing as the game hasn't begun and I finished The Rithmatist, I'll sign up as Daggertongue, suspicious person #3720. He ain't been dropping no eaves, honest.
  15. Aonar. A vote on you means we would appreciate it if you would share your suspicions with the thread.
  16. In my defense, I claimed Snapped the other night (a dangerous thing to do if I weren't telling the truth, especially if I were the rusting Inquisitor himself) and nobody has contested the claim.
  17. I was a Thug; I Snapped last cycle. I'm a villager, though I doubt you'd believe me. @Herowannabe The way you're talking about me is so insensitive. "Do we call on our Coinshots to finish him off for us?" Guys, I'm right here.
  18. Your first rebuttal was fair, Randuir. I hesitate to vote for anyone else without much reasoning (since I have other things to do right now) because I'll probably get voted on again for it. Guys, how was it a bandwagon if literally one other person had voted so far on that person?? At least in my understanding of the terminology, if one other person votes on a suspect, and I agree and join the vote on that suspect, admittedly with little reasoning, that is not a bandwagon.
  19. I agree with Lopen, Randuir has also seemed a bit suspicious. Then again I don't have much to compare him against.
  20. I would play test games if they existed.
  21. A fair accusation, @Jondesu, though I disagree. I'd like to direct you to my activity and alignment the past 4 or so games, which show absolutely no relationship between activity level and alignment. It's mostly been real life stuff which I've had to give priority to. As for the message, it seems like something Jondesu himself would send. It smells a little like 'thanking the doctor', though not nearly as heavy-handed as HH's comment. But I'm not here to discuss arbitrary messages, am I? Whom to lynch should be the primary focus of discussion, not potentially Ruin-alterable sources. My gut suspicions on Elenion and Mark IV still hold (though my analysis so far has been, regrettably, desultory at best). The latter said he'd be on sometime this cycle, so I'll be watching for him. Unfortunately, in this town, gut reads won't get one anywhere. Basic vote analysis (spoilered for size; not much to see): I'm still almost sure something was afoot with the Droughtbringer bandwagon. I'd like to hear a bit more from HH.
