Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Here we come to the end of your basic instruction in Soulbinding’s Light powers. At this point, you should become acquainted with the physical components involved in Soulbinding. Apart from specific focuses for the eight powers and the ring which binds you five to me, there are others. These include the ten enclosed weapon coins. Use them well. Fifth stumbled into the bar, his weapon bag one coin lighter. He suspected either Sareth or Rea had taken the dagger. Whoever it was, they had just made his job in Urithiru a whole lot easier. If it was Sareth, there wouldn’t be a problem. If it was Rea, on the other hand… He dreaded that possibility. Nonetheless, there was another thing Fifth could do to further his master’s cause. He sat down at a table, pulled a handful of coins from his focus bag, and called out, “Anyone up for a game?” - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - @Elbereth I don't really have anything in my defense in that respect. It's just unfortunate timing. I posted that disclaimer before having read through any posts, including Alvron's post in question, and I had to unexpectedly leave soon after (hence the actual lack of content). So, sorry, I guess? -

Okay, really, the person who attacked me? When you're not trying to kill me turn one (which happens rather frequently), you're trying to kill me turn two. Did I do something suspicious? Was I too active or inactive? Or does someone just have a vendetta?- 360 replies

Shout out to Joe's tags. Not knowing alignment or anything upon death is going to make it hard to pin down the bad guys. For a vote, maybe <color=red>Doc</color> because Dani voted on him,and following the trail of bodies will be our best source of info.- 360 replies

Mid-Range Game 20: With Ruin Beside Us
Ecthelion III replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Bugsy, that sounds like something an eliminator would say. Plus, you're on now. (Straw) Yes, I know it's suspicious that I'm jumping on at the last minute. No, I don't care, because I'm more suspicious of Bugsy than Jondesu, this is when I happened to catch up with this game, and that is that. Though, knowing my luck, I may have just saved an eliminator, but I think the contrary is more likely.- 360 replies

My comment was referring to the chapter two tallies about whether to imprison Sheep. not whether to execute. (Sorry for using the word lynch, it's rather ambiguous in this game.) -

Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
(Only an analysis post because the Fifth Nameless is currently unconscious.) Yes, you're right, I have had the opportunity to post analysis but I only posted RP. The reason for this can be summarized in one quote: "An uneducated vote is worse than no vote at all" I tend to fall for groupthink rather easily and I like to deal in facts. It's a fantastic way to avoid deception, but unfortunately, especially due to the practically wasted lynch on Sheep which didn't tell us anything (and which, may I add, I have been strongly against and continue to be strongly against a lynch on Quiver), we have but few facts to work with as far as voting is concerned. Though I also didn't agree with all the reasons for the lynch on Arinian, now that he's imprisoned, we should execute him to obtain at least some of said facts. To be honest, I'm not quite sure whom to vote for. I do believe at least one, if not more, of the eliminators were at least partially behind the lynch on Sheep (for reference, Jondesu, A Joe in the Bush, Magestar, Assassin in Burgundy, Drake Marshall). -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination

The two Enhancement powers are perhaps the most mysterious. One is an Investiture Link, which connects you to another and gives you access to the same reserves of Investiture which that person has. These links are notoriously hard to forge and run out quickly. The other is an Energy Link, which is similar in that it gives you access to that being’s energy without taking any away from them. (Note: The latter has not been tried on inanimate objects and is not recommended, as it may have unforseen consequences.) I was going to wait to post this until later, but after HH's RP, now's as good a time as any. The torrent of water grew louder and louder until suddenly, he could see the floodwall approaching. With his few remaining seconds, he held tight to Rea with one arm, the shield with the other, and jumped. FLOOM! The current hit like a highstorm, strong and unyielding. It threw him from side to side, tossing and turning, depriving him of the breath of life. He was at nature's mercy. Yet, somehow, through Fate or Providence or whatever it was, he still managed to keep a hold of both Rea and the shield. With tremendous effort, he jammed the shield against a rock outcropping, parallel to the water level. Water pulled at him and threatened to wash him away, but with all of the power of his muscles, he lifted himself and Rea up onto the large shield. No, he thought, not a shield anymore. A ship. The rushing waves finally tore the makeshift raft away from its position lodged into the outcropping, and it zoomed down the waterway. Fifth and Rea were atop it. Fifth turned around and looked back to where the main group of Initiates had been. He could see none of them. He then scanned the water ahead of the shield-raft. Sareth, Ranatar, and Kintas had run ahead of him to clear the way of Voidbringers, but they were nowhere to be found, either. I dearly hope they... Wait? What is that in the water? He spotted the facedown form of the Shin man Sareth. As the shield-raft sped by, Fifth grabbed one of his arms. Rea grabbed the other with a surprising amount of strength considering his small stature, and the two of them hauled Sareth onto the raft. Fifth smiled his classic half-smile. "I hope you can drive a ship, little one." Then he fainted, leaving only Rea atop the shield with the two unconscious men. I know, a little far-fetched, but riding a shield down a flooding chasm seemed too good to resist. @TheSilverDragon -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The more useful of the two Temporal powers is Memory. This power grants access to the memories of the Connected individual, though not always the memories you seek. Foresight is the other side of the same coin, and it allows glimpses into the destiny of another, but again, as it is not an exact art, it is rarely useful, especially in specific situations. - His ears caught a new noise: a low rumble, a faint rushing, like a hidden river. His eyes widened. A river... oh Truth have mercy... Sareth broke into a sprint and yelled to the other Initiates. "Run, for all you have! RUN!" Fifth kicked up his speed by another notch, but as the sound of water continued to grow louder and louder, it became clear to him that this was not a problem which could merely be outrun. He came to an abrupt halt, shouting to the other Initiates, "There's no outrunning this thing. Prepare yourselves!" He set Rea down on the ground and began unstrapping the large shield from his back. "Can you swim?" -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The power of Thought is accompanied by that of Emotion. Neither is highly effective without the other, as context is paramount when reading the book of the mind. As this is an Internal power, it cannot affect the emotions of others, only read them. Fifth felt Rea stir in his arms. As the boy cried out, Fifth tried his best to calm him, though the task was somewhat difficult as he was running at top speed. "Hush, child. Everything is going to be just fine." An arrow whizzed by Rea's head, missing it by centimeters. "Well, maybe slightly less than fine, but..." What am I supposed to tell the boy? "We're surrounded by Voidbringers and about to die!?" He decided that in this case, honesty was not the best policy. "Just another one of the Captain's, er, training exercises. Nothing serious, I just have to carry you through this--er, war zone..." Storms, I'm bad at this. Fifth dodged to the side as a pile of rock came crashing down from the top of the chasm wall, kicking up stones and covering them in dust. "Just hang in there, all right? If anything wants to get to you, they have to get through me first." He flashed a grin and spun around to block a flying spear. "And I'm not going to let anything get through me first." -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
General note: For the sake of continuity, I like to include excerpts from other players' RP to ensure a consistent storyline flow. These will be colored in light brown/gold. Let us move onto the Mental Internal powers, the first of which is Thought. Mental Connections are usually the easiest to forge, and knowing the thoughts of another can be a powerful psychological tool and weapon. The more—shall I say Spartan—of you may tend to brush aside the Mental powers, but do not underestimate their usefulness in social as well as combat situations. @TheSilverDragon "Voidbringers!" Utter chaos ensued. Initiates scrambled to their feet, weapons drawn. Captain Kaladin shouted orders to his Squires, pointing positions and getting very angry. In his hand a silvery spear manifested, and he shot into the sky to face the Voidbringers. The tall Squire, Rock, ran forward, and the Initiates raced after him. Fifth scooped up Rea into his arms and ran after them. With another flash of light, he had collapsed his staff down into a silver coin, returning it to his pouch. He now ran as fast as he could toward the path to the Oathgate, with Rea in both arms and Sareth & Kintas not far behind. The Voidbringers began to jump down among them, flinging themselves from the cliffs and landing, feet-first, on the ground, seemingly unharmed. They grinned maliciously and swung their swords. Fifth slid to an abrupt halt. The Voidbringers were mere feet in front of him, and he was holding a child! Losing no time, he slung Rea over his shoulder, then reached into his pouch and instinctively reached for another silver coin, this one engraven with a different symbol. He threw it directly out in front of him and, in a brilliant flash which blinded his enemy, it transformed into a large silver shield. Man, I love these things! He held the shield out in front, just in time to block a stab from a Voidbringer. He countered with a thrust from the shield, which knocked the enemy backwards but otherwise did little. Two more Voidbringers appeared on either side of him. I can't hold them off forever, but I can't afford to fall here, not with another's life on the line! Suddenly, Sareth was there, his staff a whirlwind of motion as he smashed aside multiple Parshendi. With the enhancing effects of the stormlight, he moved like a tornado, smacking the demons to the ground with several hits. Fifth turned to the remaining one, knocking away its attacks--one, two--and with it off balance, he charged it, slamming his shield and body weight into the Voidbringer, crumpling it to the ground. It attempted to rise up again, but another blow from the shield knocked it out--or at least stunned it. No longer in imminent danger, he strapped the shield to his back and cradled Rea back in his arms, running at full speed once again toward the gate. (An escort mission, I see. This I can do.) -
I'd put recommendations a bit more imo. Heck, I picked up Sanderson in the first place because of a recommendation of a guy about 3 times my age. (best decision ever!)

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oh yeah, a moment of silence for Shinon @TheMightyLopen who was standing on an outcropping of rock which the chasmfiend ran into and destroyed, causing him to fall down on the creature's back and on the ground, who is now probably being trampled on by the angry monster. Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The other Physical Internal power is Sound. Similar to Vision, it allows you to experience the sounds of the Connected being as if you were them. While not as inherently useful as Vision, it can pick up certain high-frequency vibrations which have as of yet unknown properties. The Fifth Nameless picked up his silver staff, which had thankfully lodged between two of the spikes when he had fallen, and rushed to Sareth's aid. He slid his staff into the slowly widening opening next to the other staff and pushed down with all of his strength. With the combined force of Sareth and Fifth's staffs, the chitin plate bent until it could bend no longer. Cracks began to form in it, then fissures, until it finally snapped, exposing torn and bleeding flesh beneath. A weak spot. The chasmfiend shook from side to side, trying to launch off the warriors atop it, but they were ready this time, holding tightly to the spikes. The massive beast roared as another leg snapped. Uther was doing his job, certainly, and the chasmfiend was gradually growing weaker as the poison affected it. It attempted to charge but, half-blinded by Shinon's arrows, it only harmed itself, wildly flailing into the towering rock wall. This wasn't to say the creature had no fight left in it. Quite the contrary; as it took more punishment, it paradoxically seemed to become more and more energetic. The Initiates could wound it all they wanted, crack its armor in as many places, but how would they finish off a beast with this much constitution? Though poisoned, blinded, and exposed, it was not dead. Perhaps far from it. He and Sareth held onto the top of the chasmfiend for dear life. Come on, Balthazar! Hurry up and find the heart of this thing! -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The first Physical Internal power is that of Vision. When a Connection is forged with another, this power enables the Soulbinder to see through that person’s eyes. As with all Internal powers, the person will be unable to detect that their vision is being shared by another. This power is extremely useful and should be mastered by all five of you. "Let's finish this." At that heroic moment, standing atop the battered and weakened chasmfiend, radiant staff in hand, face to face with the Shin seeker, it occurred to Fifth that he had no plan. Plans are for weaklings, the voice in his head spoke. Trust your instincts. Hunter's instincts. Hunter's instincts. Always go for the head. With an arcane battlecry, the Fifth Nameless once again broke into a run, but this time, across the back of the chasmfiend. The roars and tremors of the beast beneath him meant nothing as he danced through the maze of spikes. Time slowed down. He was fast approaching the front legs of the chasmfiend. The chitin rippled beneath him like an ocean. A bloody ocean. He had almost reached the head when -- with a tremendous CRACK! -- one of the four front legs gave way. The chasmfiend roared in agony, and Fifth lost his balance. He snapped out of his focus and tumbled to the side, trying to grab a hold of one of the creature's spikes, but to no avail. He gained momentum, about to slide right off the side. Storms! He was going to fall and be crushed by the chasmfiend's legs! -

Fifth landed his flip on the back of the wounded chasmfiend. He planted his staff into the chasmfiend with one hand and extended the other to Sareth. "Let's finish this." -

Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry @Doc12, let me clarify: I can only assume that the eliminators can get behind interrogating the 2 inactives since it's a waste of the interrogation, but for the rest of the game (thinking ahead here), they would naturally go for the players who are generally active and have more Honor. While this doesn't narrow it down incredibly much, my instincts say it would be wise to be more suspicious of votes on someone like Jondesu or Lopen than, say, Elbereth. RP to come! -
